No kidding. It's like a masochistic love of it. He can go on for hours about all of the horrible aspects of it but always underscores it with a passionate appreciation for it.

LOVE this interview. Al makes 2 HUGE points. #1 the only thing that would really stop a "territory type system" is the idea that the concept is too old. People don't consume content the way they used to, but they still consume it. Even more so than usual. People still watch wrestling on TV and then spend money to go watch it live. If you concentrate your effort to a particular region and work with local organizations and run the small towns as well as the big towns....well, you got yourself a territory.
2nd: THANK YOU for saying that people have ALWAYS knows that wrestling is a work. So many people in the industry now use the "everyone-knows" line as an excuse to be lazy with their creativity. "It's ok to do this silly stupid bullshit because everyone knows it's fake now" "it's ok if this doesn't make sense, everyone knows what wrestling is" EVERYONE has always known! But because the presentation before was more realistic, people would allow themselves to get lost in their fantasy world. Still happens today with really good stuff.
Great job on the interview Brian. I'm going to go check out OVW

Have to say i'm pleasantly surprised by Al Snow being as eloquent and passionate about wrestling at this point in his life, it shows that he was one of the guys with true dedication to the business and a very savvy man as well who needs to attract wrestling fans when they'll watch it anyway, it's all about being a variety show to grab a bigger audience. Hope he succeeds with OVW and gets to branch out like he wants to.

Al Snow in your purchase you get:
ONE ring. A folding table. A shit ton of black cloth. Cardboard, and folding chairs. 2 refs, 2 microphones, this metal arena/xl storage shed. Oh yeah and these 3 boxes on VHS tapes, 2 music cassettes of royalty free entrance music. This hand held video camera for tv production. This box of clothes.
But most importantly 2 port a johns
One for the fans, and one can be used as an office just as I had been doing.
Thank you Mr Snow and good luck.

god I miss Al Snow in WWE but even back in the attitude era when and I was in my early teens I liked to watch his matches genuinely. Granted I loved Stone Cold, The Rock and the others as the big larger than life characters yeah but Al Snow had a solid character and always wrestled rather crisp IMO and that was super alluring to see too.

But a TREMENDOUS POINT Al makes about "The Finish" and wrestling's concept as predetermined or fake. Because that statement honors the athleticism and the danger in getting there, especially in certain cases.
