It would be great if you can make a video on the progress of the cuttings all the way until the plantlets developed well enough to be transplanted in their own pots.
I love your channel bro, keep up the informative videos. Also your accent is cool and adds a bit of variety to those of us in other parts of the world.9.8/10
Thank you!
Excellent 😊 cuttings keeping it green 🌱🌱😁
Can I make an update video? When they start the sprout and the process of planting them. ❤️
I just recently propagated my Drosera Adelae giant successfully. I also had a Drosera spatulata that had a lot of flowers growing out of the cluster, that had small plants growing on them. Not sure if they made seed and some germinated on the stem? But they're rooting with the Adelae giant. Very easy to propagate
I'm also trying to propagate an adelae, how did You do it and how long did it take?? :0
@lucasroman6510 I just cut off a couple leaves and put them in distilled or rain water when I had some, in a take out container with a clear lid. I changed the water every week or 2 as I remembered. It took quite awhile, I can't remember if it was 6 or 8 weeks. But I got plants on every cutting.
@@Hello_Fuckers0 thank you man, i was worrying as i am not getting anything but im only 2 weeks so far
These little plants just cannot stop Splitting. They do it way more than VFTs or trumpets
Definitely do!
Great video!
Thank you!
Is it okay to use a plastic cup and make a whole in the bottom and use that as a pot?
Super useful! Did you ever make an update on these cuttings?
Unfortunately no I had to move houses
NOT useful. how long do the plants stay in water? how are they potted?
Can you make a video how to save sundew from root rot? Because i purchased yesterday a drosera x beleziana the roots is all black and stinky smell but the leaf is ok
Hey man. I don't normally comment much on videos, however, you seem knowledgeable and I'd like some help if you wouldn't mind. I have recently got a few different carnivorous plants and drosera is one of them, I have the kind that has a long stem with no hairs and then a circular top with the hairs. So far new to this and I'm wondering about the plants themselves, I live with pets and there's hair floating around, do you think the hairs that do end up on the plants as my cats love jumping about, will they stress the plant out tricking it to expend energy to try and catch a hair that won't bring it nutrients.
The hair from pets is fine, it just doesn’t look good and the chance for catching insects is less as there’s hairs taking up space
I live in tropical area. I find leaf cutting to be a bit slow, I'd rather leave them be and seperate the small ones that sprouted from the old leaves.
then what to do next ?
🖤I ended up trying this method and another with just sphagnum moss. Will let you know which worked better for me!🖤
Goodluck!
Which one worked better
Well?
@ericestrada.... What happened??
Does it also work with venus fly trap leaf cuttings, like just put them in the water?
Not as easily, you’ll need a piece of the rhizome too
Can you use the flower stalks like others do with fly traps
No, the flower stalks are pretty much only used for VFT
About how long would it take for a drosera capensis cutting to be ready for planting?
About a month to 2
What's the best brand soil to buy for carnivorous plants on Amazon? I have some capensis in propagation and looking to find the best soil for them when ready.
I think I have a link in my description
You can just buy a big bale of peat and some perlite separately. It’s a lot cheaper
for the water propagation technique mine never grows roots only leaves so i have to transfer them soon or else the original leaf gets soggy and the cutting fails
Yes true, you need to transfer when they’ve developed a couple leafs
The foil would actually make the pot warmer w the sun, just so you know. It’s meant to trap heat, not release it.
Excuse me, I want to ask...Can drosera graomogolensis be propagated with this method or is there another way?
It should be able to be separated like this and there are other ways too
How long till you start seeing plantlets after cutting?
1-2 months
My drosera burmannii seeds i put them and spread like a chicken feed on a flat container and now I'm problematic how i manage to seperate each plant they are so many from 1pod 🤯😵
What is the foil wrapped around the pot for? Thanks
Supposedly helps keep it cool but I don’t know how much of that is true
@@TheFlytrapGarden ah ok, thanks man your videos are very helpful btw keep it up
Thank you
hey is it ok to put a sundew in a tray of water like a venus fly trap
Yes :)
i already know how to propagate drosera so i am just leaving a comment to boost the algorithm.
Thank you!
do i need to open the lid ever now and then?
To allow airflow, sure
Do you know where I can find drosera graomogolensis? I live in the US and can't seem to find anyone able to sell/ship to me.
I would’ve thought they’re there in the USA, I know they have it in Europe but I don’t know anyone who has it sorry
@@TheFlytrapGarden thanks
How long does it take until the leaf turns into a plant that you can put in a pot?
1-3 months
@@TheFlytrapGarden and sometimes even earlier..i seen plantlet formation at 2 weeks.
Definitely
@@TheFlytrapGarden So quick? Another question: I just saw that you cut the leaf not at its origin but somewhere close to it. Wouldnt it be better or more efficient to cut it with its white end (part of the rhyzom)? And after those 1-3 months it did develop roots or when would be the best time to pot it?
The closer to the stem the better, yes. And they will generally make 2-4 leaves. At that time, you put it into very wet soil and they will then root
I live in the U.S. but am very interested in buying some Drosera from you if you can send them here. I am very new to these types of plants. Thanks so much!
Hi Jeff. Unfortunately I can’t send to you unless you have import permits, the best would be to purchase from suppliers in the USA, it is more expensive in the states but at least you’ll have the ability to get them 😁
Noting propagating here. just floating flowers. You missed the part where they get planted again.
i love cloning. adelae propagates without putting much effort...or any at all. lol
Haha very true
I don’t think you can send any of your plants to WA? 😅
I’m sure I could. Why not?
You are so cute!!! You look like kit Harrington!!!
Thank you 😊
