  • In episodes one and two of our crate engine series, the folks from BluePrint Engines showed us how a motor evolves from a collection of spec sheets, through R&D, and into block prep and assembly. Now, we get an in-depth look at a crate engine’s top end and spend some time in the dyno room for testing. Then we’ll see it get bagged and tagged, ready to depart the BluePrint facility for delivery to the customer. You’ll learn some interesting insights along the way too-you’ll be surprised at how building a crate engine is different than assembling a motor at home.

My friend bought a 396 sbc Blueprint Engine 3 years ago. We put it in a 68 Prostreet Camaro with a built turbo 400 and a narrowed 9 inch Ford NASCAR rear end with 4.30 gears. It also has 17 inch wide Mickey Thompson tires and weighs 3200 pounds. He has put a lot of hurt on those very wide tires in the last 3 years. The engine is just as strong as it was 3 years ago and sounds great.

Appears to be a pretty nice machine shop in the background. So, there is potential for more auto related content… like interviewing the guys who machines the blocks and heads. Even the custodians who keep the shop safe and clean perform vital roles that affect product quality in the shop environment.

I have a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2 I need over hauled or new motor My car has 283k miles on it but IF I make it back home that's 783 miles back I been stuck here in Farmington, NM for 2 years. I don't really think I can make it back it has noise coming from the Mains or rod bearings going out. I'm on SS so I Don't have lot of money. Shops here are outrageous in Price to over haul AutoZone has a rebuilt motor for $1800. But I'm to old to install it. But first I need to get home by the 5th of July.
