How to become higher tier:
Step 1: Be universally considered one of the worst heroes
Step 2: Release one of the most broken heroes ever
Step 3: Be a natural counter to said hero
Step 4: Profit!!!
So why Henry? You may be asking. Well as one of the highest defense mages in the game, Henry is already a nightmare to colorless units. His defense is high enough that he doesn't need Triangle Adept to tank archers. This is important as I believe Cancel Affinity is a natural choice for Brave Lyn's kit. If she receives a fortify cavalry buff then she has enough defense to not be ohko'd by DC users which nullifies the need for Sacae's Blessing, but she will always have to worry about Triangle adept Raven mages unless she runs Cancel Affinity.
As can be seen from the first clip, Henry was able to survive against a max offensive potential Brave Bow Brave Lyn with Death Blow and buffed with Hone Cavalry with QP Moonbow which hits twice in battle. All with no buffs of his own.
Note that Eirika is the only character on my team that has buffs.
Boey is another good candidate for being a counter to Brave Lyn, but even he would have lost that battle with Brave Lyn. That's because on top having the highest natural defense for mages, Henry also has the highest HP pool, which also makes him a great Panic Ploy user. I never actually hit a Panic Ploy in the video due to the nature of the maps, but it makes him a great counter to Nino and Cecilia as well.

Brave lyns were surprisingly hard to come by when I recorded this.
Understandable, and it's neat that Henry can kinda get some use. Just saying, only _barely_ surviving Brave Lyn, and being unable to fight any other units afterwards, doesn't really make him a "counter". BLyn is a hilariously dumb, unplaytested unit.
I do think Panic Ploy's gonna be incredibly important now, so that aspect of his build not being exploited in the video probably does make him look like less effective of a counter than he really is. But it still feels bad when a "counter" unit can only barely eke out wins because a game I joined only six weeks ago has already devolved into a power-creep fest. {:^#{{
Oh for that clip I was showing a max potential brave lyn that's been built for max offense and buffed to hell versus a completely unbuffed henry. It's a situation that would have killed any almost every other raven mage(even if they run triangle adept im willing to wager)
So suffice to say the cards were stacked against henry in that one but he still came out on top.
Brave lyn is dumb though. I agree.
This guy just doesn't know how to create an effective counter. My Bowbreaker TA Blarraven MRobin eats Bridelias and Bowlyns for breakfast. He also proceeds to tank and kill pretty much every sword or red tome user.
orrrrrrr he doesn't wanna rely on TriAd and be completely useless against everyone running Cancel Affinity, which is presumably 99% of bow users in his tier...a tier I'm wagering is well above yours if you can run TA with such impunity.

Actually, I prefer to put panic ploy 3 on him instead to use his great HP. I also like to give him Blarwolf+ so not only does he counter a good amount of reds, but he also counters B! Lyn and Reinhardt pretty well.
And not a single special delivery was made that day.
I'm so happy to see one of my favorite characters being put to good use like this! If I ever manage to summon Henry (I can't believe I still don't have him after all this time) I'll come back to this video to figure out how to build him.

Pretty interesting Henry build. And I'd thought most had written him off as 'The provider of Green Tomebreaker and occasionally Ignis'
I have a guy on my friend's list with a 5star Level 40+9 Henry. I love using him in the gauntlet.
Pretty much the rule of thumb is "if it has low attack, give it a gem weapon or Triangle Adept 3" It works for most characters if you pair it with Quick Riposte if they're super slow.
He makes for a very powerful bow killer, even at 4 stars. However it's the only use I see in him...
He's a green wall and a green slayer too. Someone doing x2 hits on him doesn't mean squat if they're only dealing 0~8 damage per hit. Even funnier, he can shrug off Poison Dagger+ attackers and kill them back. lol
I also see him as being a great Panic Ploy user since his HP is quite formidable. So if he happens to only serve one purpose (say, he kills the Brave Lyn and is just dead weight vs 3 blue units) then you can just toss him to the back and put him on the same line as the enemy.
I think there are very few units who can't do a damn thing. These Summoner Supports can also turn a 1 Hit Wonder into something usable for more than 1 niche too. (Bless IS for making all units KINDA viable I guess lmao)
I've made a build for him in my tactic team , he is +atk , he has Bladetome + Death blow 4 + desperation + Atk smoke + brash assault and he gains +6 Atk/Def/Res HE IS A MONSTER.
More than anything, it shows how powerful Brave Lyn is.

Who ever did Henry's voice lines needs a raise.
Triangle Adept helps him more than Earth Boost, but is heavily countered by Cancel Affinity, while Earth Boost is cancelled if the enemy has more health than Henry.
But, you know, Henry's the mage with the most HP and Defense...
The fact that Henry has to reveal and use a bit more of his true power means that Lyn Brave is truly OP. Then again still not even enough to take out Henry.
You should have played "Monstrosity" in the background. But if you think this was evil, I have a Henry with close counter.

Ironic that releasing one of the strongest heroes in the game suddenly makes Henry a lot more viable. I'll be shocked if Henry continues to be considered one of the worst heroes.
I mean, is Henry really better at running -raven than Sophia (who's vastly better at fighting green mages than he is), or Boey and F!Robin (who can handle Reinhardt, the other broken part of Horse Emblem alongside BLyn)?
If there's one thing all of those other mages need, it's Triangle Adept. Cancel affinity is a really good skill for archers precisely to counter triangle adept raven mages. I'm just putting forth an option that doesn't need triangle adept.(boey and frobin both need ta to counter Reinhardt)
Not to mention Cecilia is another broken part of horse emblem, which henry can deal with.
I haven't played FeH in months, but as an avid "rank up your faves" player, I'm glad my 5 star Henry investment is finally gonna pay off.

Adding Infantry Pulse to remove QP and swapping out QP for Deflect Missle. Will make this Henry even better. And unlike Lyon, he's +10 able. If you have the feathers.

Well I think I can go with +hp -spd, all the others have -atk and -def
Any IV that is -spd pretty much.
I started using Henry because he was my favorite character. Then I found out that he counters Takumi. Then I gave him quick riposte and close counter. Now he kills just about anything that isn't blue.
This seems interesting.
I also think that I have one Henry at 4-star after the rate change of the 3-star and 4-star.
Let me check his IVs and see if I can grind him the next couple of days.
I have a +Atk -Spd Henry with a similar build, and after using it I honestly don't think Henry is as bad as everyone says he is, pretty satisfying to tank hits and then dish out ignis damage.
Will neutral Henry work or +def is much better?

He's fine without panic ploy but earth boost gives him an edge against archers. You need either triangle adept or earth boost

I did the same but with Boey/axebreaker. He counters reinhardt, brave ike, amelia and hector wonderfully too!

Not everytime actually. While it is true that they usually run Sacae's Blessing on offense to kill Xander, Ike, Hector, Ryoma and Camus more easily, in their defense team they sometime give her Cancel Affinity.
Emboar bof Well whatever they throw at me I also decided to have her ally partner be Lukas with Spur Defense 3. A side from that their personalities mesh well together.
Not saying that your build doesn't work. It works wonders actually. Even though "Enjoy Cancel Affinity" is provoking.
Just saying, be careful because some people out there actually use it on defense. You can trust me, I've basically built the whole C-Tier ;)
I have a +atk -spd Henry, should I raise it? I don't have earth boost/triangle adept fodder at the moment
i think it's worthwhile to build up many brave lyn counters for arena assault. Don't necessarily need to 5* him if you're not committed to henry

I think the +def is important. That's potentially 12-16 extra damage from brave bows if you're neutral defense. But +atk is also a good boon since it helps guarantee kills.
I still lean towards having +def though
+Atk is his second best boon, since it patches up a bit his low attack, but -spd is his best bane. For his A slot Def+3 is a good and cheap alternative.
Give him Triangle Adept and he should become a monster against Archers
Meanwhile, I simply gave my Cecilia Bowbreaker.
Ought to give her a real Special some time, but for now it works.

I'd use this if it didn't take a Boey, 5* Subaki (because anyone would burn Klein or Leo for this), and a Luke/5*Valter. Too bad, because Henry was one of my favorites from FE:A.

if you're targeting these two, why not use bowbreaker instead of quick riposte?
I guess Bowbreaker will stop Henry from KOing them during the enemy phase with Bonfire, since it takes 3 attacks to charge. And he will be vulnerable to other mages too.

I found that 4 star Stahl +10 works pretty well against any red, green or colorless unit too lol (especially Hectors
I get that you didn't want to use TA, so this is just a different "bad" unit that counters Brave Lyn. Sophia with TA, and some kind of boost or a +atk nature OHKOs Lyn. She's also capable of OHKOing Brave Ike in that way. Basically a hard counter to colorless and greens. Swordbreaker or Quick Riposte are desirable for either adding additional units she kills, or making her EP stronger. I don't think she has any set that'd survive optimal Cancel Affinity Brave Lyn though.

Exactly. Also cheap fodder that doesn't benefit many characters, unlike triangle adept which is highly desired by many.

He is not a monster he is the greatest character and hero
He's so powerful as a defensive mage, but none else. Perhaps since Brave Lyn is so prominent nowadays, characters like Robin, Cecilia, and Henry come into play just to counter them.
Xierra Marron actually most characters can deal with her. Brave builds are so common nowadays and Brave Lyn only has 18 def and 36 hp, yeah
In fact any physical attackers + dancer should kill her very easily. Just be cautious and never step in her range.

His attack is ridicliously low and dependant on ignis.
I mean hes ok to use but i prefer my Robin M +atk -res with triangle advantage and swordbreaker.

He has Ignis too but hes 44 atk so hes not as reliant on it.
be careful, the meta is adapting, I have seen quite a few scary cancel affinity lyns running around.
Yeah i've also faced teams with 2 B Lyns and both are merged. One with sacae's blessing and the other with cancel afinity

Henry is surely very good against colorless units, but you must watch out for Poison Dagger/Poison Dagger+ users, such as Kagero, which is more effective against Infantry units.
