I believe the reason the Lazy Villagers laugh off the whole 4th wall is is that they still believe but know they can’t do anything about it so they try to not think about it so they don’t go insane.
Who was Whisp before he became a ghost? Were the Able sisters parents named Cable and Fable? Kappin sings about his family, but he’s permanently on our islands, did he ditch his family? So many unanswered questions!
i’m sure someone else has brought this up already but one of my personal favorites is the “unknown sender” from new leaf, the person who sends you a letter when you start saying that they were supposed to be mayor but handed it off to you last minute. might not be too much of a mystery to some, but i’ve always wanted to know who it was!

Because you always get a message and gift from your mother, but you only hear from your father on Father's Day. Zipper is clearly someone in the suit, so it might be your father trying to keep an eye on you without actually having you know it's him. That's why I only hops when you can see him, he's not an actual bunny so he gets tired.
A head canon I thought of just now is Isabelle made the robot villagers since in the spin off game, Happy home designer, Digby mentions Isabelle has multiple engineering degrees. So either she bulit them or the college she attended did
I still think that the whole Animal Crossing universe (being the cynical, jaded, misanthrope that I am) is a post apocalypse world in which animals have evolved into their intelligent, anthropomorphized selves and simulate what they think the human beings were like when they were more abundant. The characters we play are one of the few remaining humans in the world, and are just lucky to live in their cobbled together towns.
I love Coco. She's so cute!!! I never thought about it before, but I don't think she'd be that sweet if she were soulless. Remember soulless Sam in Supernatural? Or was it Dean? Either way, sweet isn't a word that would describe him.

The gyroids face bug always creeps me out, but I never heard about the alien on the TV... I mean dang that's scary... Also I heard even more crazy theories like the player is the only human because they're in purgatory... I know from a YT video, maybe you can search "Animal Crossing purgatory" that video is a nightmare 😭
Zipper is the reason I avoid playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Easter. I always will avoid Bunny Day because Zipper T Bunny is creepy, and I never liked him.

You can meet Kapp'n's family in New Leaf where they live on Tortimer Island. He didn't abandon his family, he just doesn't work around them.
