- Here I talk about how to play and buy the Goblin Town Faction! This faction has had a rise in popularity due to it winning both Ardacon and NOVA the year after the new rules releases!
So happy your back my man 👌 👍 Fantastic video and content as always 😃
I'm making sure not to let you guys down this time lol. I already have another one filmed and uploaded for Saturday. I'll be filming Angmar tonight :)
Been waiting for a new video for ages! Good stuff as always. The only problem is that now i want a GT army of my own 😀
Yeah I've been attending a lot of tournaments trying to get these done. Im now powering through quite a few of them. Already have another one filmed and scheduled for release :)
Super glad you're posting again. There are a few goblin town armies in my meta and you're very correct about their ability to charge terror causers through sheer numbers!
I feel like a minor weakness they have is other, more 'elite' hoard armies. Any army that is putting large numbers of low quality troops are still beating goblin town for quality, and can break them quickly. Harad hoards, moranon spam and the like really rack up the kills quick against them! It's an army I'd rather fight with 60 humans than 40 elves!
Very good point! Armies like Corsairs might give them quite a bit of trouble since they can take a lot of them down at a distance before being able to almost match thier numbers in close combat. These are the things that I think about after uploading :P
Loving this series 👍 Please do Angmar next time :)
I have Corsairs already filmed and scheduled on RUclips. But I can certainly do Angmar next. It is the third place army at NOVA Open and I'm doing them in order of who won at NOVA.
So glad you're back! :)
Glad to be back! Just takes a while to test all these armies after the update
Thanks for coming back and making new videos. Super helpful and fun to watch
Its great to have you back! Thanks for the analysis I hope you make more in the future!
Now I feel better for wanting to make a GT army out of my Escape from Gobin Town set. Will likely be my only non LoTR army
I think they are a fun army to play! And it definetly gives a good use for all those Escape from Goblin Town boxes that I think everyone accumulated haha
Solid points Devin. Instill fear is a nightmare for Goblintown, but is mitigated if you go first. I agree that Lords of Battle is a scenario Goblintown is seemingly weak at, but is still very able to win.
Interesting thoughts on the mercenaries, still not sure they are worth the points though. From my experience in Reconnoitre you really don't need the early escapes unless you are on a really low time limit game as your sheer number of troops allows you to get a few dozen off with no trouble. The scribe also allows you to have a solid defence in Recon and dominate in any objective based missions. In Heirlooms though Mercenaries are very helpful, but it is only 1 of 12 missions. Overall, not sure the versatility pays out.
Great video, keep em' coming!
The Mercenaries are good for more than simply escaping at Recon, the simple fact that they havent deployed makes the opponent very hesitant and has them holding troops back. This gives you more time to summon more goblins onto the field and also to take the fight to them closer to thier edge (which in turn makes it more impossible for them to get off the board). You can certainly win the scenario without mercenaries but this advantage is huge.
As for objective based missions, the scribe is certainly enough, but the mercenaries not only give a Plan B but also allow you to complete push off an opposing group from an objective through sheer weight of numbers combined with the reinforcements the scribe brings.
Realistically though what the Mercenaries bring is caution and hesitation. Players play differently when they know that group is hidden somewhere. This psychological effect has a lot of players making a lot of mistakes even when the "mistake" is a sound strategy.
Also, Intill Fear is actually still very bad if you go first. Unless you can grab the caster, this spell would mean your entire back rank would run away. This would be a nightmare situation as you loose all advantage in combats
@@dchobbitleague8191 that's what I mean. The only people that have the spell are front rank fighters. You take a hit the first turn and tie them up the rest of the game.
Ahhh ok. I suppose I have thought of all the Instill Fear casters to be back rank units except for Galadriel. But I can imagine the common variants of wraiths you might go against to be on Fell beasts and thus putting them in the front.
Them and occasionally Sauron. If the wraith is on a horse in the back it's a completely different story, but most take them on fellbeasts I find if they take them at all. Is it different in the US?
I love the series and your channel!!! :D
Glad you are liking it! I'll be producing more How to Play videos very soon!
Amazing work! Love the videos. Id love to see many more of these! Id love to the high elves now that the old one is out dated.
hi, i hope someone can answer this. at 5:19 you show the goblin warriors with bows, do these come on the sprue or is it kitbashed?
What an awesome army at 3:47
Yeah the Cave troll conversions are pretty cool!
This convinced me on goblin town, what about allying in the three trolls for some killing power?
Noob question but how does an extra 6 gobbos (the alliance ability) hurt your might?
Mabye im just too late but I cant find any goblins for sale other than the new and expensive ones.
I'd like to see Goblin Town vs Moria
Please make a Dark Denizens of Mirkwood video!!
Haha that would be a fun one! I might actually play with that at this weekend's tournament just to try them out a bit
the recon thing is something that is almost certainly getting FAQed out. The GW staff didn't even know this was a thing at NOVA. And it's nonsense, everyone knows its nonsense, and only dicks use it. Then again, goblin town seems to attract a certain kind of player anyways.
