Nice to see people in UK enjoy the german model train sets and especially the ICExperimental. Which was my favourite when i was a child. It was all so new an amazing then... Congratulations to the nice model! Its the pendant to the British HST. Need to get an HST to Germany soon. :-)
Had a little chuckle when you were chatting at the beginning about having to many and how it goes over the top etc. I thought yep, that was me when I had my OO layout. Saying that love your collection and can easily see me going the same way now in O gauge. Robin
@@hovermotion thanks for the reply! I’ve already converted my Fleischman ice experimental, but am finally getting the courage to tackle this marklin Hamo train. It’s quite unusual, w motors on both ends, and flex ribbon connectors at the couplers. I’ve noticed descriptions where a German firm has offered replacement pcbs many moons ago, but I was hoping to instead patch into the current pcbs! 🤞
Nice video. I also have one of these and I Dcc converted it many years ago. However mine has lost its full high speed... it used to run very fast like the other Fleischmann ice trains. Did all the usual cleaning and oiling but the motor seems to have lost the full power which it had 20 years ago. Still running ok though. Would be interesting if yours is still doing the Fleischmann high speed...
H0-DCC-fan Yeah...my zug 1999 set is converted and runs at a scale speed of 180mph..if I convert this I would use a 8 pin interface with a lok pilot or sound v4.0 and custom the chip settings to this motor using the esu programmer.
Awesome buddy! I didn't realize you got the full set until I saw this video! I am super glad you got one. If your looking for any more trains let me know and I'll see if I can find them for you! Take care!Ed
No problem Jim and that's great to hear! Btw besides the plans to possible convert it to DCC operation, do you plan to add LED lights to the inside of the cars also?
Did you ever convert this to DCC? I believe it needs a motor, and a motor back-plate replacement to achieve this. I can understand the back-plate replacement, as the current one ‘shorts’ one power wire to the motor case/chassis. But I don’t see what replacing the motor does, unless it’s bearing would also ‘short’ to the motor case too. I’ve now accumulated three ICE trains since seeing your videos.
The Marklin Version has articulated and sliding connector covers which is why i prefer it. But the Fleischmann looks overall better... Btw. this is the complete trainset. The Experimental had only three cars between the end cars. nice catalogue...
Excellent model train! The original ICE - V is my favourite!!! The 'father' of all ICE trains... Thanks for posting it!!!
Many thanks...Jim

It looks great. You must have a small warehouse where you store all these trains.
Hi Rob..I hope you are well....Lol...Yeah that is all under my baseboards but now I am out of space..So selling stuff on these days...
Good day! Another awesome video! Do you have any experience converting the same marklin train (Hamo 8371) to Digital? Thanks in advance! Andy
Hi Andrew,
Thanks,
I did convert this Ice to a coreles motor but I lost all the footage of the install I was going to do for a vid...

Maybe its the decoder settings that accidentally changed and made it slow?

As on 5:12, Does anyone know what the small shining stainless disc/ button on the bottom of the truck is for? thanks.
Contact for the old style track occupancy detectors for early automatic control.

I went coreless as it was fairly easy to do with a superior motor, I think I did a standard fitting of the original motor on another Ice model..
Hi
Not my cup of tea but it a lovely model it always nice to see models from other parts of the world
Keep safe ARP
