JD is one of the best comeback stories in whiskey right now. To go from Jack & Coke to making products that knock it out of the park every time is insane. Great review, guys!
@@johng5710 JD black label brings in about 60% of Brown-Foreman's total revenue internationally, so you know the old phrase: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Jack is a little unusual. They are not in Kentucky. The company is very family oriented. Their single barrels are from the top of the rickhouse and are all 4-5 years old. Their bonded is an older product (by taste like 7-8 years old). And their 12 year is phenomenal. The 10 year is good, but not like allocated $200 good. Like, it would be solid at MSRP $70. It is honestly not as good as Knob Creek 12 which is readily available for $80 or less. Paying $200 secondary prices may be ok if you like to collect things, but the taste is not worth $200.
Can you do a video on your bunkered bottles? Would love to see what you guys are storing away for years later; bonus points if you show your storage setup for the bottles!
I was never a huge Jack fan, but after trying a SiBBP, I can go to the regular No 7 and find similar notes. It's awakened an appreciation for Jack I've never had. Love the SiBBP Rye as well.
@@TheCrustyCupcake yeah #7 is just too low proof so you don't get enough to make it compelling, the BiB however definitely delivers and makes me think #7 should really be like 90pf.
Just came here to say thank you to Sean. I hadn’t had a BLT in years but after his ad segment I realized I needed to have one. Now I’m kicking myself for sleeping on that sandwich- the savory bacon alongside the juicy tomatoes all with the crunch of crisp lettuce? Phew. Also, JD 10 is decent.
Left craft beer for bourbon, 37 hits hard, and I’d say JD single barrel barrel proof is my favorite with 1910 second and EH Taylor small batch third 🍻 Keep up the good work I really enjoy the channel!
Thank god someone else loved the Heritage barrel as much as me. If you still have a heritage 2018 or 2019 to taste and compare it, the 10 and 12 definitely have similar notes, but the heritage just had more of those unique notes. It's one of my favorite bottles ever. Really hoping they do it again at some point.
This is definitely more available I manage to get one WAY before y’all which never happens for me. Got it like a month ago for $81. Haven’t opened it yet. Waiting to pass my drivers test on June 6th. “I’m 22 and just now getting my license.”
I was 4th in line for a JD12 and JD10 drop, they had one case of 6 of each. I bought the 12 (they went first). It was killing me because I really wanted both, but, only one per...maybe should have bought the 10? Oh well, I'm happy, paid srp.
I've gotten to try them both a couple years ago (would guess batch 1) and again this spring (maybe batch 3). In my mind, the 12 wins hands down. Like they compared to the Bonded, the 10 just seemed like you added some tannins to it. You could tell it was older, but not necessarily in a good way. The 12 turned into something special, not sure how it balanced out, but I enjoyed it a lot more.
Fantastic bottle, but like others said it takes some time to open up. I was fortunate to find JD12 Batch 1 on a shelf for $89, and last month got the chance to buy JD10 Batch 3 in a lottery, paid $70.

Makes you wonder what took them so long

The triple mash BiB slaps, so does the rye BiB and the SBBP rye. All have a permanent spot on my shelf.

Its my birthday today and my wife had a bottle of Blantons waiting for me with breakfast. Life is good!

Still waiting to find a 10 or 12 but I am absolutely in love with the BiB and the SiBBP.

BLT with a gin/tonic is delightful, fyi.
Great review. Found this gem at Costco for $70 bucks and am anxious to crack!!! 🇺🇲
Found one for $80 and I don’t regret it one bit. My favorite bottle right now.
I got another bottle of JD bonded after watching this and it is gone! I didnt remember it being so damn good. Bonded shootout anyone?
When you two have been friends, married, as long as you have, I am not surprised you finish each other's sandwiches!
I got lucky and picked up a bottle for $89 😮😮 - looking forward to popping that cork. Enjoyed the review!
I agree. But this bottle opens up really great, 2 weeks does wonders

If I find one, I'll buy it....and try in some Dr. Pepper.

Neck pour...never know. Stoked to find this one.
Love JD been my go to since I got into Whiskey but I can never find their limited edition drops. Hope these become more prevalent

Vampire is bitter/angry? SHOCKING. Just scored a JD10 batch 3, can't wait to crack it this weekend...
I’ve only had Batch 1 and it’s fantastic. Suggesting it’s a B- is crazy and I haven’t even tried this batch yet
I love this year's 10. Think it's a little better than last years!
It’s a buy every time
J.D. special/limited release are freaking amazing!
Dan saying he is fan of boiled peanuts made my day as deep south southerner I accept him as kin now lol. Also i am drunk. Cheers!
Do Garrison Lady Bird
This batch is fire best 10 yet and this rivals the 2024 12 release
Places around me are 175 - 200, lol
Yupp $200 the average haha
I am sorry to hear that:(
Yup, same here in NY.
I blinded this with eagle rare and McKenna 10 yr. Jack 10(batch3) came is last by a good bit. It had a harshness to it I couldn’t get past
Yeah, this open for a couple weeks if amazing
Good timing on this review...I was actually considering buying this at $160...thanks for talking me off the ledge lol
Was able to grab one last VA ABC drop. Appreciate the review gents.
They're talking batches, and I have yet to find the first bottle😢
Batch 1 - 4/5, Batch 2 - 4.5/5, Batch 3 - 3.5/5, I agree with the B or B minus.
I did b2/3 back to back. I also preferred batch 2. Like by a lot. Not sure why so many are touting b3 as the best.
@@danielglass9795 Yea, I rated batch 2 as the best by alot, hopefully they revisit in a side by side.
Drunk chop love it
Passed up the 10 for the 12 and wished I had grabbed it too.
I love boiled peanuts.
This is peak old man grumpy Sean. No way this is a B-
Yeah that bottle looks pretty full, I wonder how long it was open? JD10 shouldn’t be scored for 1-2 weeks after opening.
Fired
I have yet to see even a single bottle of JD 10 or 12 around me. I’ve seen bonded and triple mash and the rye but nothing else
Don’t sit on the triple mash. It’s amazing.
Which state do you live in?
Small shop in south lyon tried to sell me that for 205$. I had to pass
I just picked one up in Detroit for $90.
Haven't found 10 or 12 yet.😢
I like how this bottle came and went within a blink of an eye and hit secondary for $200 LOL
Funny you mention "bitter". I enjoyed my bottle, but definitely got a bitterness in it. Definitely some aged dusty notes as well.
Mine reminds me of a tea note so maybe thats the bitterness.
😂😂😂 someone please send “to hell and back yea” to Matt for a Matt madness sound bite!
How do you know what batch you are buying I don't think the batch number is on the bottle
Batch number is on the label.
@@lawdawg194 thanks!!
The Question For Sean’s Peanut 😝
Not my Meijer -- or I just got very unlucky.
Fantastic bottle, but like others said it takes some time to open up. I was fortunate to find JD12 Batch 1 on a shelf for $89, and last month got the chance to buy JD10 Batch 3 in a lottery, paid $70.
The absolutely ridiculous marked up prices for the 10 and 12, keep me from buying them. 😠😢
Eagle Rare 10yr 50$............. Whoops JD azz.............. Just sayin.
I enjoy this bottle a bunch, preferred it over several wellers i’ve tried
Too bad they made about 10 bottles. By the way, wild turkey tastes like bug spray
$12 jack and coke lmao
My local store has a JD12. They want 450 for it.
Everyone tries to press the label down on the beveled edge of the bottle and then decides not to.
Surprised a patreon tier is called bourbon nut considering how much you guys complain about nutty notes like they're the end of the world
Not a fan. Tbh
Great another $200 bottle of JD. GTFO
It’s an $80 bottle.. gtfo with you complaining
I understand, approaching $200 in NY as well. Either have to be in a price control state and lucky to find one or have an in at your liquor store.
