2. Selection Tests
Applicants will be tested on 2 subjects:
- Math: Secondary 2 and Secondary 3 (No calculators allowed.)
- English: Secondary 2 and Secondary 3
There are 2 sections:
1. Language Usage
2. Writing
3. Interview
Questions from My Interview:
1. Introduce yourself: what’s your name and age?
2. How did you think you did on the math selection test? Why?
3. How do you deal with disappointment?
4. Since you’re a perfectionist, what would you do if you kept trying and don’t succeed?
5. Where did you hear about this scholarship?
6. Why singapore?
7. What are your career goals? Why?
8. Would you join a protest? (In response to why I chose to specialize in women’s health.)
9. Are you aware that you have to share a room in a hostel when you’re in singapore?
10. Are you a neat/organized person?
11. What would you do if your roommate was unorganized?
12. Do you have any questions for us?
Additional Questions from My Brother’s Interview:
1. Did anyone tell you how hard or easy the selection interview is?
2. What if your sister got in and you didn’t?
3. If the studies in Singapore are really hard, what will you do?
4. What are your bad habits?
For Cambodian applicants, you may be concerned about the years that may be wasted if you get the scholarship, but remember, quality over quantity! The education you get in Singapore is undoubtedly more beneficial for you and your future than an education in Cambodia.

hello everyone!
please only contact me via the platforms i mentioned: instagram @judy.kuy or email me jjudykuy@gmail.com. i will not message you back on any other platforms/accounts to protect my privacy. thank you! 🫶
not sure if this is true for ALL countries, but they have inserted the GAT (IQ test) back into the selection tests. do take note of this!
since i’ve been getting the same questions, i’ll put the answer here:
how do i prepare for the selection tests?
for math, you can try searching up the secondary 2 and 3 emaths syllabus to be familiar with the content of the test. you can also try this website: studykaki.com/exam-papers/o-level-sec-3-e-math/
as for english, they tested us on the tenses of words, grammar rules, and we had to write a 300 word essay. they gave us 2 topics to choose from:
1. write about your experience with team sports
2. write about a time where you showed leadership skills
the interview questions are in the description box.
good luck to all that are applying! 🍀
Thanks Judy !!
You are so much presentable ❤❤😊😊 good job

Hi Judy! Thank you so much for making this video, it's really helpful! I'm working on my application process for the ASEAN scholarship and I wonder if you could share what you think are the most important qualities they are looking for in their applicants, please? I think that would really help me in the interview as well (if hopefully I can pass the selection tests).
hello! i cant be sure tbh, but imo, they’re looking for someone who’s consistent (either really good at math or really good at english), confident, really enthusiastic to get the scholarship, and good at communicating in english. hope this helped and good luck!
Yea you passed and is now studying in DSS! Dont ask me why I know

, I was wondering about the selection test , back then was your selection test during mid-month or early-month ?

I just took the math test like 22 minutes ago and it was really hard but if I had more times I would have done it all. Some questions I see through it but not enough time to write or finish the question.
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences sis.
Love you so much for this.🥰 And I admire you actually.
And I'm also a student from Myanmar who is trying to acheive the asean scholarship in 2023.
I actually don't know how to apply it or what should I prepare for it right now.
So, I would like you to give me your advice.
Thank you for the kind words! You can apply for it by clicking on the website in my description. Let me know if there are any issues with the link! Right now, you can practice by reviewing for Secondary 2 and Secondary 3 Maths and English. I talked about this in the video! You can also practice talking to yourself in order to prepare for the interview. If you have someone to ask you questions, that’s even better! For the application process, you should start preparing the documents like school records and certificates. Good luck!
Me and my friend are currently applying for the scholarship and I swear we're preparing and it's so stressful and we're not academic English either and also I'm really bad at math 😭
don’t stress too much! take this as a learning experience and try your best, no matter what the outcome may be. good luck!!

hi! i'm in the 8th grade right now and I've just recently found out about this scholarship so I cant tell you how grateful I am you made this video omg! I would like to ask you (if you're comfortable, of course) what was your gpa average when you turned in your portfolio? did you participate in an overwhelming amount of ccas? bcoz my gpa as of right now is around 3.9 (out of 4), but I'm only a class representative for my student council, and I don't have that many sports achievements. But I do have a couple math competition certificates and school awards (for like grades and stuff) so I want to figure out if I should start participating in many more sports and other CCAs. you have so many ccas😭😭😭. also, you mentioned the math test was difficult, so I'm kind of worried because you're a 10th grader and obviously have much more knowledge than me, and you still found it hard so I'm very worried now....Anyways, congrats on getting your scholarship!!
Hi! I'm really glad to hear that you found this video helpful! When I turned in my portfolio, my GPA was 4.2, and I would say that I did participate in quite a lot of CCAs. You can check my description to see the CCAs that I included in my application (They asked for 10 CCAs records and 6 achievements/awards). A GPA of 3.9 is amazing! Keep it up ^^ If you are interested in sports, you should definitely join more sport competitions. For me, however, I am not athletic at all, so I don't have any sports achievements. I don't think you should be too worried about the math selection test; I am just REALLY bad at math. Like it's not even funny. Thank you for your question and let me know if I can help in any other way!
I wish I was like you in grade 8 good luck (from a year 10 student hoping to study abroad)
I am also in grade 8
Omgg hii welcome to sg!

tysm!! yes, i definitely had trouble accepting that. i just keep telling myself that i’ll be able to get more opportunities here in sg! i don’t really want to get into too much detail since this is really personal, but that’s basically the gist of it ^^
Hello sister Judy! I came across your video and was really grateful that someone make a video like this. I wanted to ask about your experience, after you submitted the application. Did you take any preparatory course before you got an email invited to take the examination?
hiii! nope i didnt take any courses, but if you come across any that looks helpful for you (or if it seems affordable) you should def go for it!

congrats and good luck on the selection test!! i suggest planning what you want to write before actually writing the essay to ensure you have enough time, and you should follow the traditional essay format: intro: hook + thesis statement, body paragraphs: topic sentence + evidence + commentary, and conclusion. hope this helped!!

Hi Judy👋🏻. I wanna ask you something. Before you applied the scorelarship, do you have to prepare IELTS, TOFEL or something? And also I need some advice from you. I wanna apply the scorelarship but my English skills is need to improve and, I'm not good at math. So, what things that I need to do?
hii! nope, you don’t have to prepare any test except for the selection tests. keep practicing! don’t underestimate yourself🥰
Hi Judy! May I ask, around how long before your departure were you notified of your school and hostel posting? Also, were you given a formal certificate of your scholarship award prior to your departure to Singapore? Would like to know! Thanks!
I got it around 1 month after receiving the email of scholarship offer! Nope, I didn’t.
Hi! Tysm for this video, it's very nice and helpful ❤. I plan to apply for the ASEAN scholarship next year, and I was wondering if you could share information about the structure of the Math and English tests. Do I need to present solutions to the problems in the Math test? Also, where can I find study materials to prepare for the tests? ty Judy
Yes, you do need solutions. You can search for materials on RUclips and look for test papers online as well!
Hi! Congrats to your scholarship!!! I have a question tho, i heard that in your 8th 9th and 10th grade you can only aplly to ASEAN once in that 3 year. Is that true?
hello! as long as you’re in the age range that they put in the criteria, you should be fine. it’s 2007 - 2010 this year i think
Hello Judy, I have another thing to ask. I'm sorry for asking so many questions xx. So I'm a bit confused about CCAs. Are CCAs are only the extracurriculars from school or it can be from outside? Thank you in advance!
hello! it can be from outside!
Hello Judy!! I'm super nervous for my selection testtttt. I'm not that good in maths 😭😭😭 and I'm a Malaysian applying for this so do you think the Math questions are hard???? Thank youuu
hey! the math questions weren’t that hard; i’m just not very good at math. good luck and remember to be kind to yourself, no matter what the outcome will be!
Hello, Judy! Thank you so much for this video. I have a question regarding the application process. Do CCA records necessarily need to be the ones I participated within the past two years? Two of the CCA records that I'm going to submit are from 2019. ( although I'm applying for 2023 ASEAN Scholarship ) Is that acceptable? Thanks, Judy!
they did state that it has to be from 2 years prior, but if you feel like you want to include those certificates in your application, then i don’t see why not
你好朱迪。我想问一下网上有没有东盟奖学金考试的历年试卷。我在网上找不到它。谢谢
Hii they don’t publish the test papers online, but you can try searching for Secondary 1, 2, and 3 (depending on which level you’re aiming for) past examination papers to see what the common topics are!
Hello Judy! A question. For the math portion of the exams did you have any reviewers or notes you used to study for it? If so can you please share what you used. Thank you! 😅
hello! i bought the casco secondary 2 and 3 books (but didn’t really use them), watched lessons on youtube and attempted some practice papers. my friend who got the scholarship last year shared me this website studykaki.com/exam-papers/o-level-sec-3-e-math/. i didn’t use it, but you can try it out!

Hi! Thank you so much for the video, it really helped! Also I want to ask something, does the scholarship include senior high school (grade 11&12) ?
yes, it does. (junior college/pre-university for 2 years)

if you have the final grade then it’s better to put that :))
Haii Judy, you’re literally the definition of smart, pretty, and funny!! Can I askk, how important are school subjects (everything or just math & english) ? Is it the most important thing, or award and CCAs are just as important? Tysm

Hey Judy, thanks for the video. Just asking 2 things, first how can I improve and sure about my applicants. And second, how can I find the similar tests that I can use to train for this?
Include as many awards as possible and I think you can find them by searching on the internet (according to the level of the scholarship)
I just got my mail that I got accepted into the interview selection test, and am currently getting the papers ready. I got stuck at the CCAs record though, most if not none of the schools in Vietnam keeps a record of students co-curricular activities. So I kinda don't have anything to prove that I took part in clubs, conpetitions, or school teams. I do have my achievements like certificates, medals and flags but nothing like a record paper. is there an alternative?
Alhamdullillah I git accepted 25th June is the test....
good luck!
Good day Judy , Thank you for sharing and this wonderful video this is very informative . I have one question - Do have you any idea for Malaysian , how often he or she allowed to back to Malaysia ( Johor Bahru ) ? ! time a month? every weekend ? after they stayed in hostel

Hello Judy! May I ask of the 300 who applied from Cambodia how many were awarded the scholarship?
hii 3 people were awarded in my year and i believe 6 people were awarded this year
Hello Judy, can I ask if the food is free for the entire duration of the 4 year scholarship? Do you also have a 2 month vacation and return to your own country with free airfare?
Yes, the food is free for the whole duration. Most boarding schools provide breakfast and dinner every weekday and all three meals every weekend and holidays. There is a 2 month vacation at the end of the school year, but the airfare will not be free every year. They will subsidise it every 2 years.
I have a question, If ever i want to apply scholarship for grade 11 and 12, does that mean the grades that i have to show/submit is my grades when i was in 9th and 10th grade?
really depends on the grade that you’re in, because you have to input scores from the last 2 years
Hello. I have some questions for you. I hope you will answer :)
1. Am I required to bring my academic transcript and my CCAS' certificate to the selection test as it only stated in the letter that I should bring the printed copy of that email and Annex A? Can I also ask what Annex A mean :(?
2. Can I bring my birth certificate instead of an identity card because I haven't got an identity card yet?
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much!
hello!
i believe i have just responded to your email, but i’ll insert my response here as well for the people who have the same questions.
1. Nope. Annex A is the document that they sent you. Make sure you download everything in the email and see which one is labeled as Annex A. Print it out and bring it with you to the selection test.
2. I'm not sure about this. I had to bring my passport. You can always email them if you have questions.

I am afraid I won't be able to pass the test since I am used to answering my questions using a calculator and I am far behind on the topics I am supposed to study for the selection test. May I also ask what videos, books, or links you used to study math, English, and logic test?
hello! for the syllabus, you should practice secondary 2 and 3 emaths. i didn’t really prepare much tbh (probably explains why i didn’t do well). for math, i bought the casco sec 2 and 3 books, watched random youtube lessons, and attempted questions from practice papers. here’s a link: studykaki.com/exam-papers/o-level-sec-3-e-math/. i didnt prepare for english; i just read. there’s no logic test!
@@JudyKuy Thank you so much!
Hi gumi! I was just wondering did u already got the email for the test selection??
@@JudyKuy cld i ask u where u got the maths books in cambo? or was it shipped from abroad? thanks in advancee
@@darius8383 it was shipped from abroad ^^
Hello Judy! I have a question.
If i have a "3 names" for my last name( Ex: Bou Torn Lo ), how do i write it in the Last name column?
it really depends on you tbh. if you want people to call you Bou Torn, then you should only put Lo as your last name.
@@JudyKuy Ok thank you for the quick response.😊
Hey! Quick question. I'm only allowed to join one CCA on school and our school don't have stuffs like student councils or any other activities. So does joining competitions count as it? Thanks.
hai yes it does
@@JudyKuyOkk thank you!!!
I've registered for the MOE scholarship, I'm not sure I can pass all the tests, because I'm bad at math :( and English too.
don't doubt yourself! try your best. good luck!!
Hi Judy! Can I ask how you prepare for the math exam in the test? Tks !
hello! i already mentioned this in the video :))
100th like :))

Hi Judy😊 I just want to ask if I have good grades and focused only on written and performance tasks because these two take 85 percent of the gpa. My quarterly test doesn't look good as I didn't mind it at that time. I only saw the details that I have to input in applying is the score of the test and not the gpa/ overall of the subject. Any advice?
Hello!! In my experience, I inputted whatever was on my report card, which were my scores for the semester/semesters. Just make sure that you have the documents to support what scores you decide to input. Good luck!
Thanks judy and God bless
Hi guys what do supporting documents they need? And how can I submit it to them ? Through application or copy of it?
Have u received email for interview invitation?
Hi, I know I'm late, but may I know what were your brother achievements? I want to apply so badly but I only got very little achievements. Thanks in advance :)
Hello! I do not have access to my brother’s achievements nor do I know whether or not he’s comfortable with me sharing them. However, I can say that his achievements are less than mine. No matter how “little” you think your achievements are, you should still give it a try! There are many scholars here who got in without many CCAs/Achievements. But since you are aware of this, you can try to join more competitions or events in order to increase your number of CCAs and awards as well. Either way, just apply for fun and see how well you do!
ty now i also got in too!
dayumm i’m literally magical
hi judyy i just got an email to attend the selection test i just wanna make sure of the venue for the test. Will it be in our respective countries? because it states in the website that it cld be held outside of my country.. its leaving me in a dilemma right now!
hii! the selection tests should be held in your countries in most cases. if you get the email about the selection tests, they should inform you about the venue after you confirm your attendance :)) good luck!!
@@JudyKuy is it right after ive confirmed my attendance??
or mayb a few days ltr
@@imaaana3211 it should be a few days later

Hi Judy! You are my inspiration.I really admire u.May I know, how many hours do you study a day?
And by any chance, could I ask u more questions on instagram?
(Sry for my bad engT T)
hii i’m pretty sure i study around 3 hours a day! it is different on weekends of course but i’d say that is my estimate amount on weekdays. yess you can! lmk if your messages aren’t going through!
I applied, and still waiting for the selection test confirmation email
good luck!
Hey! I was wondering if everyones test would be maths and english or is it different for every batch?
most likely yes! if it’s not, they will inform you beforehand.
@@JudyKuy thank you!
has anyone from malaysia gotten the interview email? i took it in kl, sec :) ngl im kinda worried bcs im actually ahead a year and the person checking ics and all straight up told me to my face “wow ur really young” LMAOO
during my selection test i drew on the draft paper during english n the invigilator looked at it and was like “nice” 😭😭😭😭 and during the writing i was cancelling a bunch of stuff bcs i was out of word limit, and a teacher came over and started reading it LMAOOOOAOO when she finished she called ANOTHER teacher and she read it asw 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 ive lost all my aura omg
for the record no i didnt finish the math test GDGSHA ngl the questions were NOT hard i js didnt have the time to do it (i looked through my paper before it ended)
I have some enquiries:
1.Is the rules and regulations there really harsh?
2.Is the curriculum bearable or is it overloaded?
3. How often do we have exams and will we get forewarned:D?
4. Will scholars get discriminated by local ppl?
5. Is the food there bearable or is it abominable?
6. Abt the hostel. How often will we get room check and do ppl do roll calls every single night, will they assemble all students in hostel for roll calls?
7. I've heard that they use the other system to treat scholars for JAE to junior college. So is there any chance that scholars can get to top ones.
8. If i'm underweighted (BMI 16) but have no other disease and generally healthy will I be certified medically fit for my course of study. Thank you
1. i would say it’s reasonable
2. depends on your strengths and weaknesses tbh! i found it challenging as singapore curriculum is harder than the one in cambodia, and i’m not very strong in maths and science.
3. once every term, then you have the national examinations after sec 4 and jc 2.
4. subjective…but generally no
5. it’s okay most of the time!
6. room check is 2-3 times a month at most and roll call is done every night by a finger scanner
7. i haven’t heard about that but as long as your grades are good, i’m sure you have a chance of getting into top jcs
8. yes

Hi Judy! My school doesn't really have CCA's, any tips on how/where do I get substitutes for that? does volunteering in my local community or to an nonprofit organization counts?
have you joined any clubs at school? you can always include those. yes, volunteering does count (just word it correctly)
Hi Judy, i want to ask if a muslim girl is allowed to wear hijab in the school and hostel?
Hii you won’t be allowed to wear it in school but I’m not sure about hostel
i dont have that much academic achievements and awards 😭 its hard for me to do THAT MUCH CCAS as well, it’s probably going to lower my chances of getting the scholarship even though my academic results are well.
never lose hope!! just give it a try and see how it goes first ^^
I have some questions, now I'm 9grade student if i'm got a scholarship will i start grade 9 again.
yes
Hii, I'm applying this year 2023 but I wonder what school will I study in Singapor IF I really get the scholarship? Is it a NUS or NTU, I saw a lot of these 2 names came out when I did a research?
hi! this is a secondary school scholarship, so the schools assigned will not be NUS or NTU (since they’re universities). the schools we are assigned to depends on the country that we’re from, and i’m not 100% what all those schools are
I want to apply secondary 1.I don't know how to prepare for maths .Can you help me please 🥺❤️
You can search up the syllabus on RUclips and do some practice questions!
Hi Judy! I just want to ask whether you can apply for this scholarship when you are in grade 11 and are just about to go to grade 12?
yup as long as you are in the age range!
@@JudyKuy for example you are in grade 11 now, when you go to Singapore will you continue to study in grade 11 or you have to go back to grade 9 again?
@@Thao3976 if you applied for the secondary 3 scholarship, you will be going back to 9th grade. if you applied for the jc 1/ pre-uni 1 scholarship, you will continue 11th grade
