- I received the ASEAN scholarship to study in Singapore back in 2019. I always wanted to make this video, but I never got the chance to sit down, record, and edit. So here I am, four years later. Please correct me in the comments below if anything I said is no longer applicable. Feel free to ask any questions you have as well!
I apologize if I talked too fast here. I didn’t realize that I used ‘definitely’ and ‘as well’ that many times. Hope you don’t mind about it.
👉 From what I heard, the IQ/General Ability Test had not been tested from 2020 to 2023. However, it seems that it has been resumed this year, at least for countries like Vietnam. Some tips I have for this test:
compete the questions as fast as you can because there is not a lot of time given for this test. Score more!
practice these type of questions regularly to familiarize yourself.
don’t feel pressured to get everything correct. Move on to the next questions first if you can’t get the answers within 5-10s of thinking. Don’t panic.

👉 Recently, I created a Google drive folder for some revision materials, you can use to help you prepare for the tests

Thanks for sharing! Mind answering if the math test are according to ur education level or its the same for everyone? If im taking something equivalent to A lvls, which grade of math test will it be?
@@aliceyong221 it’s depending on which level u are applying for, secondary 3 or A levels? They will test you knowledge mostly at that level, not what you are currently studying in school.
@@itzguech8086 I’ll apply for pre university 🥹 so will the math test be about pre university level?
@@aliceyong221 which level of pre-university you are applying for? There are different categories to that: secondary 1, secondary 3 and junior college 1.
@@itzguech8086 ah so sorry I misunderstood. I’m applying for undergraduate scholarships
@@aliceyong221 hmm, undergraduate scholarship is for students entering university which typically doesn’t have any tests.
Hello, I have applied for the scholarship and currently waiting for the email for selection test.
I do have good ccas but my academics grades were average? I only gor it around from 50% to 80% so idk if i can call these average. What im concerning is that will they even give me a chance to attend the selection test? Ik it sounds kinda stupid but my anticipation with a bit of concern of whether I'll get the email or not is going around & around in my head these days, haha.
Don’t worry, I can completely understand your concerns. It really depends a lot on the other candidates applying for the exams, their grades and qualifications, lucks as well as the number of candidates this year for your country. I really hope you receive your invitation soon! 🤞🙏 As long as it is before selection date, there is still hope!
@@itzguech8086 Thank you so much!!
@@itzguech8086 Can ik when do they usually mail?? In website it said the emails will be delivered one week ahead from exam.
@@LAURA-u6e4n I can’t remember when I had the tests (can’t find it on my email, they called me instead), but I got the invitation at around June/July as the deadline that year was June and I submitted at around end of May. Like you said 1 week before the test, but they can also send to candidates way before that depending on their time availability, candidates’ qualifications etc. When is the selection test date for your country?
@@itzguech8086 It's June 22nd here, ohh they also call candidates insteading of mailing too?
hello! i wanna ask how long did it take for you to get the email that you passed the application submission stage? im indonesian and ive submitted my application (which the deadline was at 28th april this year) and the planned test are supposed to happen this month, im just very worried in general TT
Hey! At the time, they reached out to me through phone calls. I am sorry I couldn’t remember the exact date. But, I submitted my application around May, and I probably got the invitation in June/July. I hope you receive the selection tests invitation soon! All the best!
@@itzguech8086 oh this is making me very worried because ive gotten a few calls from unknown numbers that ive ignored.. was the number that you got called a registered sg number? aka +65? thank you!
@@mikejimas the calls were from the embassy. I think they should be my country code. But if you want to be clear, you can try receiving those calls too! U can always hang up afterwards.
@@itzguech8086 ahh how do i receive those calls? sorry for asking a lot of questions TT
@@mikejimas oh, no. I meant if these unknown callers call you, you can try receiving their calls just to make sure that you don’t miss out on the invitation, if the embassy does call you via phone.
Hi bong! I have a few questions!!
1. About the academic, Do they need us to prove that we’re actually getting good grades or we’re actually participating in different activities?
2. About the math test that you took, Is it hard compare to a normal Khmer school test?
3. I don’t usually join Khmer school competitions, I mostly join English school competitions, does it count?
+ Does a public speaking competition count as CCA?
@@k_its_evy heyy!!
1. Yes, you’ll need to submit your test scores when you apply. You might need to submit proofs for extracurricular activities and awards too. During my year, we didn’t need to submit proofs for extracurricular activities.
2. If you are in grade 10 or about to finish when you apply, I think it’s quite doable, not too difficult! But you’ll need to familiarize yourself with the English terms and practice questions if you haven’t done so. Check this folder out! drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_wgh9zkZMNudxhBcdziTyqNBIwi3EulK
3. I would think so as long as you have some trainings for it outside school curriculum. If you get awards, list them in the award section too.
Hope this helps! You can reach out to me via Ig too @chhiv_guech
hi b, if u remember, do u know what they will check in the medical examinations? ty
@@darius8383 hi, I don’t remember exactly but u can expect things like general physical exams, chest x-ray, infectious diseases, hepatitis, and blood tests.
Hi, is ASEAN scholarship holder more easy to get University scholarship after you have finished your JC? Thank you
That is not necessarily true, but many of us got scholarships at Singapore universities. It depends largely on your grades as well. You could also become a permanent resident, which is easier and faster to get as a scholarship student while studying there. That will increase your chances of getting the scholarships, or you'll pay lower tuition fees if you don't get one.

Hello, I'm currently in 10th grade in India and have just completed my half-yearly exams. I'm interested in pursuing 11th and 12th grade in Singapore through the ASEAN Scholarship. However, I have zero knowledge about the scholarship's eligibility criteria, application process and deadlines.
Could you please guide me on:
1. Eligibility criteria for Indian students
2. Application deadline and opening date
3. Required documents (e.g., grade/mark sheet)
4. Application procedure
I'm anxious as I couldn't find any information from Indian recipients. My 10th-grade final results will be available in May.
Thank you for your assistance."
Hey! Unfortunately, only students from ASEAN countries are eligible for this scholarship.
@@itzguech8086 oh no!! Are there another scholarship I can get as a Indian student??
@@closertogravei am not aware of any, sorry.
Hello! Can I ask you how you translated your grades into English? I'm in a rush right now and don't know how to format it.
@@darius8383 I formatted it pretty similarly to my original documents. I didn’t translate my grades; I just translated the words. It is also a good idea to attach the original transcripts with the translated versions when you submit your application. Include references as to how good your grades are too in case they don’t understand your grading system.
@@itzguech8086 thank you so much for answering! For my birth certificate, do I need to translate it too?
@@darius8383 yes, you will need to translate all of the documents, including your birth certificate, if they are not in English.
hello, I am also applying for this scholarship, I want to ask for the interview and test, what tests will be taken? and how is the interview process?
Hmm, I have explained about all of them in my video, maybe you can try watching that part? I can’t explain everything here because it’s gonna be a super long.
Basically, you’ll be taking Math, English, (and IQ/General Ability Test for some countries if I’m not wrong). For interview, I suggest you watch this video. You’ll converse with a few interview panels who are MoE officers and school principals etc.
Hi, did u get any email/information for interview?
Greetings!! I recently did my interview and I have no idea whether i did great or bad .
Firstly, I really want to ask if they value being independent and being able to cope in
sg alot? Because in the interview they asked me if i think ill face any problems and I said yes, exam stress and being independent like shopping my own stuff
and something(my brain was going fuzzy). And I didn’t even said how I’ll overcome it :c . They also ask me a follow up on my failure and how ill overcome it and my answer was not so good as I was saying something like me being very determined and blah blah… but i also mentioned how my teacher helped me a lot (i said smt like if i didnt have him i might have already failed)) so i think i really messed up on the independence part. What are your views??
But on the part that i think i did good was showing my personality, being authentic , showing that i really want the scholar but I wasn’t sure if that would be able to help me much
Thank you very much for reading this long chunky text!
how did it goo
@@darius8383good! Hbu?
hey! sorry I didn’t see your comment 😢. But, I want to say that interviews are very nerve-wracking and I’m still struggling with it myself, too. There are many different approaches to answering questions and there are always room of improvements in every interview. I can’t say whether you did well or not, but great job for getting through it and managing to show your authenticity and personality! Good luck!
If you don't mind may I know what kind of pre uni that this scholarship offer ,for ex: a-level , IB or matriculation 😊
Hello! This typically lasts 4 years (9th to 12th grades). Normally, the first two years will be for O-Levels. If your scores meet minimum requirement to renew the scholarship, you can go to either Junior College(do A-Level) or IB depending on the school you get into with your O-Level results. May i know what essay they ask you to write when you attend the scholarship?
As in during selection test? If i am not wrong, I wrote discursive/argumentative essay. I can’t recall the prompt, but it might be something like this: ‘’ (quote or saying here) ‘’ What are you views?.
But there are usually a few prompts for u to choose from. I heard they like to ask descriptive essays. Hope this answer ur question!
Hi I'm applying from Indonesia I just wanted to know it said the selection test announcement will be announced in June and the deadline was 30 April, What is the range of date I could be looking at for the results.

I have a question, Is the CCA really necessary?
@@Itsnikarika academics is the most important thing. Personally, I believe that having a few CCAs on top of that, especially leadership-related activities, are useful. Leadership is also what they are looking for in the candidates, too. You can refer to the ASEAN scholarship’s website for this.
@@itzguech8086but my school didn’t really have like the CCA, like students council or sport club as you’ve mentioned, can you recommend what I should do about this?
@@Itsnikarika my school also didn’t really have CCAs, but I was fortunate to be the class president for all my time in school. I suggest finding similar roles in the class? Like subject representatives, class president etc. The thing about CCAs is that you can create one yourself. Find something you are interested in doing (e.g: community services, singing, sports, etc) and gather people in your school or your friends who have interest in it and make tangible impacts. It can be done physically or virtually. It’s also an enriching experience as well.
Joining competitions can be considered as CCAs. Hope this helps!

When was the deadline for Philippines

There's no more IQ test from 2022 examination, only Math and English.
Thanks for the information! I’ll update accordingly.
How to calculate fast without calculator? Please 😊
Hmm.. I’m actually not the best at this. I personally don’t have any ‘tips’. I had always calculated manually back then. So, I think that practices and repetitions will help u a lot in becoming more efficient when solving problems without calculators!
It probably differs from country to country, but, from my experience, finishing all questions isn’t super necessary. The most important thing is to finish the majority and getting them right.
Hiii! I also got the scholarship offer, and I would like to ask you the ff questions, and I hope you would answer them 🥹
1. I'm an incoming Grade 11 student but my departure to SG is still in November so I would like to ask if it's advisable to continue my studies here in my local school in the meantime(we have entrance exams coming up this week) as a G11 student and eventually drop out in November? If I had the same experience as you, can you tell me how your local teachers thought/judged your decision?
2. When will we be informed about the exact date of the departure and what are the procedures that we are required to do (such as paying for the plane ticket, and how will we be reimbursed)?
3. Is there an allowance given to us on a time basis? Approx. how much and do you think it's enough for your daily living?
4. What are the necessities you need to buy there (such as uniform, books, etc.)? Do you think the allowance given to us is enough to buy them?
I'm sorry for asking a lot and thank you sooooo much! 😊
Congratulations on receiving the offer! I’ll try my best to answer your questions.
1. I was offered the scholarship in grade 10. I had exams and went to school until the very end of grade 10. My departure date was during the holiday so our situation is a bit different. If you decide to accept the scholarship, I suggest that you tell your teachers and consult with them on what you can do. Otherwise, I think that it’s not a bad idea to continue (unless u have better and more meaningful things to do) because what u will be learning might help ur studies in Singapore.
2. Hmm, if u accept the scholarship, you will definitely be informed, usually via email, one of two months before your departure date. They booked and paid the plane ticket for me. I think it will be the same for you, but I can’t guarantee for sure since it’s been almost 5 years since I got my scholarship.
3,4. Yes, usually once every few months. U can expect around 250-low 300 SGD/month depending your level (secondary or Junior college). It was enough/more than enough for me, but note that I don’t spend a lot. Just for groceries (snacks, fruits, food, etc), uniforms, studying materials, transports, eating out once or twice per week, it’s more than enough. It depends on ur lifestyle. Bed linen , food (breakfast and dinner), health insurance (for visiting clinic only) are provided. If you need anything other than that you need to purchase them on your own. do bring some money with you bc u might not receive your allowance immediately.
Hope these answers your questions. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask. I will make another video for that.
Did you get the scholarship sec 3? Can i ask what questions did you get for the essay?
@@chillsourdream Hi! If I remember correctly, we were asked to pick one out of three different topics. The topic/question I chose was "People should always tell the truth. Do you think there are any situations in which this might not be the best thing to do?"
(To answer your first question, yes)
If you know how to express your idea, I'm sure this will be easy for you. Good luck!
