Think the big thing with Army of Thror is the all around the Grim Hammers which is a shame! I actually think it’s good though that Thror and Thrain went up in points they were very cheap for how solid they were. One of the biggest things with Thranduil now is that he’s your banner! That is fantastic and also gives that elk model a boost because the bigger base widens that +1 to wound & banner. The Glaive change is massive if you front rank get killed you can still get those 2 dice but also if you’re surrounding stuff but no supporting getting extra dice to wound could be crazy! Glad Lake town were toned down, they were a bit too good imo.
Yeah I'm with you on Lake-town and Mirkwood just seems all round great! But yeah I missed the whole 33% and two-handinf Grimhammers thing..! Not ideal. 😬
Shout out to Mithril armour which makes models immune to the Rend Brutal Power Attack, so for Thror thats D9 that STAYS D9. Nothing is blitzing him unless its got help.
@@DesmondDentresti Azog enters the chat… 😉 I haven’t started my Army of Thror list yet but now I’m not sure how many Kings guard grim hammers you’d run now… I was always thinking of the warrior spam but not sure about the elite guys now
@@DesmondDentresti Yeah agreed! One thing though with Azog I do wish his wounding heroes on a 3+ was purely against dwarves for the theme, can’t wait to try so many of these lists though it means loads of painting 🫠😂
As somebody who used to regularly take Thror with 18 grim hammers upgraded to kings guardians in most lists I think the biggest thing thats hit Army of Thror is the throwing weapon limit has essentially put a limit of 33% on grim hammers in the army. Added tot hat grim hammers now have to fight 2 handed. That being said i dojt think the army is unplayable but the loss of grim hammer spam is a shame. I guess not bwing able to ally in Dain and a few goat riders hurts too
Army of Thror got shafted because of the throwing weapon limit. Can't take just grimhammers anymore. I play alot of erebor Reclaimed and I'm just frustrated that I have to pay an ori tax now to avoid basically everyone being forced to 2 hand. The new role if you role a 6 it's still a 6 is nice but always being forced to 2 hand especially against troops is rough. Played a game recently where gloin lost to 2 orcs 3 turns in a row because I kept rolling a 5 down to a 4😂
Dwalin is very sad this edition. No more three attacks with +1 to-wound. Company Nori has two special rules, but both are completely useless, because there is currently no way to disarm him, and there are no scenarios in which you pick up objective markers. Fortunately, all other dwarves in the company got buffed (except maybe Dori), as did their army bonus.
Yeah Dwalin is a bit of a sad story now..! I think Nori will become useful, assuming there is a Matched Play Guide on the way. And Dori did get a debuff but it feels right so I'm ok with that 😅
What do you make of the Thranduil changes? I really feel like he’s a side grade at best having lost an attack on foot. How often is he going to kill what he’s fighting, on foot at S4, to get the free heroic off? I’m not convinced at all
Interesting - I think the Elk is a massive plus now, whereas before you probably wouldn't take it. I like the removal of the auto-spells from a fun point of view and this version matches the films nicely. I'm gonna stay on the fence for competitiveness for now... He's probably not going to get loads of free Heroics against dwarves but he could smash through goblins for example... But always outnumbering himself means he'll be a fluff or two from dying all the time (which is also fun 😅)
@ I see what you mean, but still fishing for 6s kinda feels like you might need to might up quite often and then you’re not really getting the benefit of the “free” heroic combat. Losing the 4th base attack and the extras for being outnumbered is rough and he doesn’t get the benefit of himself being a banner, so he’s way more likely to lose his fights now and D6 won’t keep him around for long.
@@twotreesgamingdo you think the hill trolls are expensiv? I was quite surprised by how "cheap" they are. 48£ for two isn't bad. That is 24£ for one. The old Cave troll is 26£! I was expecting 69£ like the Gundabad Ogres

@@joshcoles1255 Its thematic! Though honestly, thats about the only time someone would pick Azog over Bolg nowadays. Bolg is like evil Aragorn.

Yeah I missed that completely - I'd like to say it because it's not the armies book yet but I'll be missing it in the next video too...! 😅🤦♂️
36:40 also important to mention beorn has monstrous Charge in his Profile now
Yes, this is very true! And auto transform. He's great!

Ah yeah that's not good and I hadn't noticed Gloin either! As much as I love Ori...
@twotreesgaming yeah alot of the Dwarves now only have a 2 hand unfortunately
Loving the amount of content your pumping out atm Mr Two Trees!
Thanks! 😁 Real work is busy to the end of March but hoping to film some battles mid-jan! 🤞

@@twotreesgaming Dori is now better than before when he is within 3" of Ori or Nori, but he is worse when he is not.
Nori is probably the best champion of them all. Now with D9, 2 Fate and throwing weapons!
Timestamps would increase the usability of such videos sooo much.
It's like impossible right now to only watch the armies of interest.

Tauriel got much better at shooting , sharpshooter and expert shot 👀
True! There's a lot I missed, it really was my very first look through! She's great now!
can angmar use cave trolls
No. And only Buhrdûr's Horde and Army of Carn Dûm can use Hill Trolls.
They're just Hill Trolls now unfortunately - glorious models and profiles but £££
