I was very happy to see Realms of Men! The only thing that could have made it even better is if there was a matching Realms of Evil Men list.

I’m actually glad to see the end of lists with models carrying a mass of wargear, makes list building much less confusing, but I’m looking forward to playing a few games to see how it plays! The rohan lists look really fun. The defenders of edoras list could be quite a good hero focussed list. All mounted

I’m a bit peeved that rangers, citadel guard and fountain guard are not the elites for Gondor anymore. Just mediocre changes for small or nonexistent benefits. I guess they want the heroes to carry the game

I can say that Helm as a wraith is pretty scary! I was playing a game against my friend who had the Reclaimation of Osgiliath army, and Helm kept heroic combatting into heros (Faramir and Madril) and I can say that Heroic combat is scary!

I have zero desire to buy War of the Rohirrim models or the starter box. I think I am just going to stick to what I have and play the old rule set. It’s not like I go to the stores anyways, no one here plays. I play in my basement. Maybe if they updated plastic models I would buy a few to support the game.

Armoured Celeborn will be in the Armies book with the brothers & court guard etc. If he keeps the rules he has in this new book but can also be armed & armoured he’ll be really good giving that +1 to wound in Loth is massive. Gil-Galad losing the horse I can take but not happy about the shield as it’s literally pictured in the book under his profile plus it’s mentioned in the lore. Luckily I’ve had it agreed with the person I play most with Gily gets 3 fate in Lindon keeps 1 in the LA but also he’ll have the option for his shield in both still! As that change I just can’t get behind.

Gimli does have 3 attacks if you opt to use his Axes of the Dwarves rule. Or 2, 2 handed master-forged attacks. Legolas gets 3 attacks in the Ravenhill hobbit army list (and fight 7)

I really loved the film, but I think the game missed some opportunities. Regarding the models, they should have made a mounted version of Hèra, Bride of Death, and they should have given the option for Hill Tribesmen with skull masks. Some of the special rules also seem out of place (or in the case of Daughter of Rohan, it would be a better fit for the other version of Hèra). Worst of all, they didn't give us a way to combine Hill Tribesmen and Mûmakil!

Not that it's a problem per se, but I can't help but think dressing up as part of one's display board probably garnered a lot of extra attention and therefore a lot of votes for being funny/extra (though I don't even know how this was judged). Not really my kind of competition, but hey, to each their own. Great video, I really enjoy these recaps.

Saw the film last night and really enjoyed it. It has made me even more excited for the new edition and starter set, and hopeful that we'll see armoured and mounted Helm and a mounted Hera in the not too distant future. Fingers crossed!

i have checked a lot of reviews today, they all said its shit. this will most likely be the last edition of the Game.

Sounds great. Glad you guys liked it! Im off to see it this weekend! There are no showings at all the 5 cinemas in my area, I have an hours drive, crazy! Hope it does well at the box office.

I think the idea that 90% of gamers don’t care about being competitive and just want to put their models on the table and have fun is flawed. Maybe a plurality of players just want to have a fun easy game, but I’d wager the number of games those players play in a year is a small fraction of the number those focused on tournaments and competitive lists play. The former group had plenty of ways to get models on the table for a casual fun game, but now everyone is funneled into this restrictive system.

Watching this just after throne... I expect a pint of wine from every one of you at the next one! Bunch of menaces ❤

There's a fool's hope that the riders of Rohan would be coming out separately in a War of the Rohirrim source book that would have scenarios from the movie that take place away from the battle of Edoras, I feel like the fact that the photos of the new miniatures (Freca helm, Hamma...), at least as far as I remember seeing, have not been taken with the old riders of Rohan indicate that that they might be releasing update rider miniatures in the near future when the War of the Rohirim book drops. This fool at least remains hopeful.

I was also really looking at building a road to helm's deep. Really happy with that list becoming a thing

Re-rolling 1s seems to be GWs answer to everything in this edition. I always find it a bit of a paltry rule but better than nothing.

Not sure I’m sold on this. The loss of the named wraiths is a definite dumbing down IMO and just to screw it down even further, you can take a dull as dishwater wraith (but only on a fell best) in a list with one of the most boring army rules I’ve ever seen. Not really impressed at all. If I wanted to play a list that was STRICTLY composed of models seen from a scene in the movies I could that already with the current version. With the new version though you can’t do anything else. Yes you can wait for the Armies of Middle Earth Book and the Legends PDF and it might improve, hey why should anyone not want 4 books when previously 2 did the job?
