- Today I attempted to beat Dying Light without any weapons. I'm excited for Dying Light 2 and the first video on my channel is a Dying Light funny moments video, so I thought I'd jump back into this game to attempt a challenge. So, can you beat Dying Light without weapons? Watch the video to find out! I played this fist only, or basically just using my body as a weapon. It was tough getting used to only using my fists in Dying Light, but after a while it wasn't too much of a struggle.
Dying Light is a zombie survival game where you play as Kyle Crane and are tasked with getting information on the Harran virus for the GRE. I played it on PS4 and had an absolute blast with the gaming challenge.

Hello friends, my name is Dante and welcome to my 100th video! If you actually look back at my very first video, it’s a Dying Light funny moments video I made three years ago, so in celebration of this being my hundredth video, I thought I’d replay Dying Light and see if I could actually beat it without weapons. After all, Dying Light 2 is supposed to be coming out in 2020 and it was nice to get a little refresher on the whole situation. So can you beat Dying Light without weapons? I know you have lots of questions like what about Demolishers? How did you kill Tahir? Were there any points where you absolutely HAD to use a weapon? What did you do for gun fights? Stick around and I’ll answer all of those questions.
I’ve made lots of challenge gaming videos over the last 5 months and as always, we start with the rules, which in this case are simple. As long as I ONLY use my body as a weapon, I’m good. This means I can punch, kick, drop kick, charge, head stomp, and grapple throw enemies, and these happen to be pretty well the only means of attack I used throughout the playthrough. And of course, I can’t use any melee weapons, guns, or throwables, including red propane tanks.
Now, I do want to say one thing right off the bat. Unfortunately, in the beginning of the game I was extremely weak and I had to use only my fists and kicks. And if you didn’t know, human enemies have A LOT of health. So lots of my starting gameplay revolved around me taking a bad guy to the ground and beating the absolute out of him. I mean each bad guy took at least two minutes of constant punching and kicking to the head to kill. It was insanely brutal… and I don’t even want to talk about it...
Anyway, let’s jump into it! We’ll skip ahead to my first zombie kill. It wasn’t too bad, I dismantled the weapon I had in my hand and just went for the kick. Weirdly, Crane chose to straight leg kick it really awkwardly, but it worked so I’m not complaining. And you know, it was a really simple first kill, I didn’t over-exert myself or overdo it or anything. I was ready to go fight the hordes of the undead, but stupid Rahim wanted to see my sick parkour skills. I tried to impress him by doing a 360, but I just landed where I was already standing and then proceeded to accidentally fall in. Oof.
So next Spike asked me to go rig some cars and this is where I came to my first problem: there were dozens of zombies surrounding the cars. Now, I know what you’re thinking, I probably distracted them and pulled them away from the car long enough to rig the traps. First of all, no firecrackers or throwables allowed, I’m literally only allowed to use my body. Secondly, this is me remember? I DIVE IN HEAD FIRST! So I jumped down there, no weapons and no hope, and slaughtered every zombie with my bare hands. Honestly zombies weren’t that hard to deal with, and luckily they all have an invisible health bar so as long as you slowly whittle down their health, you’ll eventually kill them one by one.
And here I came to my first big boy fight. See, on the scale of thiccness, we have Rahim, this guy, and this guy. Rahim, mehhh, he’s kind of on the weak end, but he still makes the scale. Then we have the big boy which is who I’m fighting now, and later we’ll get to talking about the THICC boi. Anyway this big boy took me a good 5 minutes of constant kicking and punching to kill, which as you’ll see is NOTHING compared to some others, but yeah, he died pretty easily. It’s all about whittling down that health baby...

You can't beat Dying Light without a weapon cause you use a weapon at the end to kill Rhys. Jk it's a glorified cutscene that boss fight sucked ass.

Drop kicking enemies off long drops in 1st person has to be one of the most satisfying things ever put in a game.

It’s not satisfying when you dive too far off the edge and you and the zombie go falling to your deaths. LoL
these humans are really patient tho. they let you slap on one of their friends without interrupting.

This doesn't happen to me, I get hit by all of them when I go for one hit. Maybe they updated the AI. Or I'm playing on a harder difficulty, but I'm only on normal.
But yea Rais's men dont just stand by in my experience.

I'm not gonna lie, I only watched the previous video halfway. However hearing that your celebrating your 100th video is very touching. Keep up the good work in these challenges, hope to see you do other games as well now.
I been replaying this to prepare myself for Dying Light 2. Also wonderful advice "Everything can be solved with a drop kick." I'll be sure to try that at my next job interview

@Hatake Kakashi so its got nothing to do with it tomb raider 2013 was optimized but the second one was,nt to start with same devs same people that did the pc port plus the first game did not run the way it does now at launch its taken many patches to get it to where it is now

Joseph Hanicak well he got Bitten, and was slowly turning into a Zombie. It would make sense if he was getting some superhuman abilities, as that was ment to be the serum’s function Im pretty sure. Also Aiden (dl2 protagonist) gets stronger and faster, the more „zombie” he is. But that aside, look at Crane, no ordinary man could achieve what he does in the game.

It's not really like that!
He works as mercenary for the GRE, so he already had some skill!
When it comes to the zombie, not only has he been bitten in the cutscene, any time he is bitten and scratched when you're travelling time is canon! He is attacked by all types of zombies, and these combined DNA mutations are what makes him the Night Hunter at the end of The Following!
I don't think the zombie DNA really affects his time as a human! He's just good at CQC and parkour

The spike trap can't really be considered a weapon due to it being more of an environmental kill using it, it'd be like saying drop kicking a zombie of a cliff counts as using a weapon

weapons breaking got on my nerves, so this was how the majority of my playthrough was done as well. On day 1, as soon as I was free I started farming using the spiked sections and kicking zombies off of high places. That night I farmed parkour.
Have you tried looting weapons from bandits and/or police cars? I feel like that becomes a reliable enough source of expendable weapons for you to not keep breaking down your own stash 🤷♂️
@@corpsefoot758 eh I could've. I did grab the guns mostly. But general melee stuff I didn't even need as I'd maxed my combat level. I could kill one of the nightmares, or whatever those freaky things were that only came out during night, barehanded. Guns were nice though XD
That's why when i found bow and crossbow i ended up rarely using melee weapons anymore, dropkick and headshot all the way...

Dying Light is one of the few games I continue to go back and play. And it's one of a very few I've bought DLC for. I'm really excited for sequel.
Shame that the story sucks ass and Crane is a very generic protagonist. Luckily the gameplay makes up for it.

It’s actually pretty easy, just requires some grinding. You can easily max out survivor rank within 2 hours max. After you get the Legend tree just upgrade the perk that increases your damage barehanded (lvl 1 - x15, lvl 1 - x30, lvl 3 - x45, etc.) and you won’t even need weapons after some time

Now that you mention it, I stopped using weapons almost entirely and just relied on drop kicks. It was kinda OP
