Good morning Simeon. I have been watching a lot of videos and you’re journey. I watch so many young men to day and so many have lost. I wish you the very best and hope you and your family will make it to the USA. I grew up on a ranch in Arizona. Now I am 64 years old and starting my on sustainable farm/Ranch. People told me I cannot do it. Well surprise in ten years. I’m debt free. I build my own home 3 bedroom, I have got my well in, I finally got my solar system to run the hole place. I now getting my 60 acre into pasture. I have cattle to use them as tools to get the land going. I listen to Allen and Joe and fallowed them. I see and here so many young people today say it so hard to start. Well I hope they take your advice. Start reading and just go to some one doing it and ask questions. Simeon & Alex God Bless you all. From Bearupfarm.

I have physical issues so I am going to plant in some buckets on the deck. I support the local farmers market. I’ve had a lot of fun with that.

My biggest problem is being 64 and doing it by yourself. Starting pasture and all the work to be done.starting from scratch. I have seen that it’s starting to big start. I beginning to remove trees and getting the pasture for spring planting.

The first year I bought seeds and then I have started letting one of each plant go to seed. Now fertilizing is what is expensive for me. I live in the suburbs so that limits me a bit. Hope in a few years to add chickens, (I can only have 4)but again where I live, I am not allowed to butcher.

How did you select the cow to be slaughtered… from the ones you had to choose from: oldest, less milk, young Bull or the one that was shy or didn’t want to go out of the barn and was last?

The one that hadn't had a calf for three years and was pregnancy tested and still without calf. Should have gone a long time ago.
