ABOUT ME
Californian exploring the world. Here to share adventures and give you tips about travel, culture, language, and life.
"People, man, they're just great." This is why I watch your videos and all PCT videos and other outdoor videos. It is the opposite of mainstream media which only highlights the rare not so good people. Thank you for highlighting the beauty of human beings. Thank you for keeping the light out there.
You guys were so lucky to bang out the PCT the last chance before Covid, fires, and overcrowding changed the trail for years to come
“1,000 km, a real measurement.” 😂😂😂
Loving your vlogs!
I’m actually glad that you waited until you were finished with the trail to post these. You were able to soak it in more. It is also really helping me fight my winter blues, and making me look so forward to spring and being out in the warm sun again! Beautiful! 💕🌞
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your incredible adventure. I am looking forward to you next segment. Oh, love your music.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure, Joyce! 😊
Cool windmill shots!
Those trail angels, kind of restores your faith in humanity.
Hike on!
So true!
Congrats on starting section B of CA. I know you are already done but I’m enjoying your journey so far. All the other ppl I was following have done their last posts so it’s nice having some new pct vlogs to follow and dream of hiking there one day
Cheers Kelly! I hope you get to hike it one day!
"because of the niceness of humans"- Mari Johnson. Its amazing how that is what it really comes down to most times.
❤️❤️❤️
Loving the videos!! Coming from the UK we've never had to really had to worry about water, so the desert is a worry. Taking loads of notes for our PCT 2020 attempt!!!
Did you watch any of " Second chance hiker " videos? The PCT wasn't the story, he was. Pretty inspirational...
@@johnganshow5536 Yeah i've seen Second chance hikers videos. His story is inspirational and well done to him.
Good luck to you in 2020!!!
I live in Southern California and I'm a novice hiker. I hope to one day tackle the PCT which is literally in my own backyard. Good luck with the PCT in 2020!
Thank you for sharing your hike! Wow what a water cache and trail magic is amazing
Your videos are great! Your laugh makes me laugh! Thank you!
Thank you for the vicarious adventure. Your PC Trail videos are the best!
Aw thank you Linda!!
Really love these videos. Hope there is another thru hike in the future~
Yay, another video! Thanks
🙌
Good job Mari and Nick
I loved your vlog
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us
Good job 😍😍😍
Good job, like your video. Keep on doing it!
Last year I hadn't heard of the PCT but the excitement you shared on you vlogs got me investigating. As a result I've followed several hikers over the winter which has been much more interesting than TV. So a big thank you. I'm greatly enjoying your experiences and videography, especially now that the other videos have finished, even if the sheer mileage makes me feel old and creaky. Loved the view of your camp through the sock tree!
Happy to be able to share it with you!!
Wonderful!!!! From Brazil !!
Olá!
Some tough days out there in the heat Mari. I hope the new shoes made a bit of difference. The length of the South Island and some...wow!!
The ol’ adding peanut butter to ramen to make yourself think you’re eating pad Thai instead of ramen trick - I ate a LOT of that on trail this year and it was quite delicious!! Your videos make me miss living on the trail so much. 😊
Scoop of peanutbutter into oatmeal was my fav on the at
Thumbs up for fancy ramen! That shin ramyun stuff is so good for folks who like spice!
Great Stuff Taco Salad,,,music works perfect
Trail angels are so cool. That would have been a long hike without water.
I love your laugh Mari, kind of cute
Hot and windy in late Spring was bitterly cold with the windchill in early Spring.
I actually went through Tehachapi SoBo and I was the first PCT through hiker according to some of the friendly folks I met. There were a few section hikers ahead of me in the registers going NoBo and I did see a few on trail over the previous week.
Some hikers also chose Mojave over Tehachapi. Less temptation to hang out and delay there I think, but if Mojave is even remotely as good for a stop as Tehachapi, then it's well above average for places to stop and resupply.
Some of the rich tourist hikers may beg to differ, preferring expensive places like Idyllwild, but self-reliant travelers have contrasting tastes. Suprisingly good pizza and bread at Hungry Howies, Tehachapi, and that wasn't the only pleasant suprise for me.
Birds springs is behind my house a couple of mountains away 😂 love your videos 💕
Ooh nice! It’s a beautiful area!
Mari Johnson can’t wait to the rest of your pct hike ❤️
"a real measurement." 😂
Thats the only measurement I know,Australia hasnt talked in miles for 50 years
Good job 👊😎
Joshua trees and wild life! The lizard is probably a Mohave Fringe-toed lizard (did you get a good look at it:s toes) or Great Basin whiptail..
I love this one. In the beginning, it started to sound like you and Nick are becoming discouraged about being in populated areas. I was thinking you would become reclusive and then finishing your days in the middle of nowhere, becoming ghosts on rollercoasters! I'm enjoying NZ... It's my first Summer in December!
Huraaaaaaaay
ty :) Would like to hear if Nick likes his pack. Is it a Featherlite Freedom? Is it a good size? I am an AARN fan from Tasmania but would like to know if it is working well on the PCT :)
You guy’s always seemed to find the very best camping spot. Several episodes appear to reveal this. Just wondering, how did you continually manage this each day? 👊😎...
We just kept an eye out for them and used our app to look ahead 😊
Not sure if it was Nick playing the ukulele, but was that Beirut?!
Yes to both! 😊
I did not notice this last year but you show getting off the trail at Cameron on the last video but getting back on at Tehachapi Willow Springs Rd which would mean you did a 5 mile section twice. Is that right?
Ooh I might have done the map wrong? Definitely didn’t repeat 5 miles and didn’t skip anything either. Sorry for the confusion!
How did you secure your umbrella for hands off coverage?
Hi dear friend your looking very best God bless you dear
❤🇮🇩
Wow! Great stuff and long time no VLOG. :) How many miles you guys do per day?
At this point it was around 20 😊
I Loveing your vlog very nice pl come to India in Chandigarh
What is that? Its for hiking?
more epi's :-)
👏👏👏😊😄😙
I'm trying to catch up, I'm only up to ep 13...
Good effort! There’s so many!
What did you do with your old pair of shoes? Leave them for another hiker?
Threw them away. I don’t think anyone else would want to wear them after they’re so worn down 😬
Any chance of an on-screen kilometre conversation for all is kiwis who follow please Mari.
Not serious hikers. Sticks to walk with!! Dr Pepper! And see the load of gear they carry around. And what cleanliness!
