ABOUT ME
Californian exploring the world. Here to share adventures and give you tips about travel, culture, language, and life.
What a great section, and a surprise birthday cake. I did that summit in September, no snow thank God. I had resupply in the bear box at onion valley camp. Did not hitch to town.
Love your videos.
Sounds good if you want to stay on trail. Did you stock the bear box yourself before you started your trip? How long was it in the box before you picked it up?
Love your videos, brings back great memories of my trip. Please keep them coming.
Those cool reddish trees and snags from Crabtree to Onion valley trailhead are Foxtail Pines and grow nowhere else in the world! I love that area. Happy trails!
The best thing about being in the wild we was is not only the nature itself, but the appreciation for civilisation later on!
So true!
Awesome footage and mountains are so beautiful. Thank you for letting me feel up there with you.
Love your videos Mari, makes me want to hike the PCT someday!
I've never done the pct but had my moments when beer, pizza, shower and laundry were the only priorities.
bill vanveen same 🤣
😂
@@mari.johnson who makes that hoodie you are wearing all the time? I want to find one for my wife
@@jeffreykellum mellazana micro grid. Can only get in Colarado store
Mari....thank you for taking us along on this incredible adventure 🙂
Thanks for coming along on the journey!
Awesome. I love all the episodes you've been posting, it's truly inspiring. I can't wait to do this trail one day.
Love the gold hoodie. Can you share the brand? Looks like a great layer!
It’s Melanzana 😊
Nick, dont be timid. You look like a million bucks with that new haircut and beard trim. Handsome is as handsome does. You did handsome!😜👍
I am so looking forward to doing Forester Pass next year. Is your tent freestanding? Mine is not and a little worried about pitching it the snow and staying up. Also hoping the snow won’t be too bad which we don’t have to buy an ice axe and micro spikes.
Wow...The mountains ranges looks great and especially the sun rise so beautiful. 😍😘😎
Hiker dreams of a van for all, with pizza. The excitement of a laundromat. I love it! The natural beauty of the Sierra outweighs the discomfort and fear you have to face in a high snow year, but those challenges must seem daunting during a cold, sleepless night. The strength and positivity of you thru hikers is inspiring. Loving those videos.
Pct 2020 who's down?
March 11th
I see why some flip the Sierras. Even in the best of weather it's a real challenge, but the views are certainly worth the effort.
The views were incredible!
Merry Christmas!💖😊🎅, who sings the song in this episode? What Amazing scenery!!!
"Show You My World" by Upstate and "Warmth Shelter" by Secret American - both I got from Musicbed. Merry Christmas to you too!
Hiker Dreams 🤣
A big van that can fit all of us straight to Bishop with Pizza in the van haha... good luck on finding that hitch.
Haha if only 😂
Beautiful footage of the Forester Pass area and nice detail of what's involved with hiking across it too.
Spectacular video...that run through the snow so steep and iffy....you guys get an A++....thanks for the adventure..
I live in California and have been wanting to do this trail for so long! I hope I get a chance to one day. Love your videos, this series is so inspiring!
I hope you get to do it too! Even just the JMT would be amazing :)
Love your PCT videos! It will be the closest I will ever get to do it! 😂🙈
😅😅 I thought the same!
Wow! I am actually heading to Waikiki in 2 days till 01/02 (work and play related). I will be doing some hiking there as well...hope alltrails.com is accurate. You guys must missing the outdoors ha? Planning on another long adventure when summer arrives?
Ooh that sounds like a fun trip! It actually is summer here in New Zealand, so hoping to do some walks! Happy holidays
I'm fascinated by your water bottle/bite valve/straw solution. Did you make this or was it something you purchased? Looks like it fits on top of a smart water bottle?
I dont think I'll do the PCT Mari I'm not fit enough but I'm enjoying watching you and Nick on your epic adventure
How did you protect your water filters when was freezing?
Hi! Idk if you will see this now! But I was curious if hitchhiking was ever scary ? Should I be worried ?
I loveeee your yellow sweater!! what make is it? :) Also absolutely love all your vlogs!! planning the pct in a few years and this has just made me want to do it even more!!
Those mountain ranges looks so beautiful!!
They were stunning! It's hard to walk when you want to keep taking photos haha
@@mari.johnson John Muir called it "The range of light"
When I watch these Videos I just wish that I will be there some day as well. But it’s easy to say laying on my couch. I would be so scared
looks like you had too much fun sliding down snow, lol
I have been subbed and watching you for a while and love all the episodes you've been posting, it's truly inspiring
So happy you're liking the videos, Anna!
How beautiful, It looked like you were in the Himalayan Mountains!
What is the brand and model of the hooded knit hoodies you and Bart are rocking in this video?
I Love that bakery.. Jalapeno bread all the way.
Oh, That Sourdough RULES😋❣!!
How do you know where the trail is (esp. in snow)? Are you consistently looking at some GPS device?
Sometimes! But there are usually trail markers or other people's footsteps to follow
Forester pass looked scary and dicey! Great job!
Love it!
2017 - 2019 was probably the Best Time to do the PCT. The trail will heal during COVID, old closures will re-open, new trail angels will pick up the support and more trekkers will attempt the finish. Mari, your videos are inspiring. Get old slow and travel far.
WHO is Mama Huddleston???
I love what you do
Can you please tell me if you finished the PCT and if there will be vlogs for the whole trip?
i dont think they did
@@backcountryagenda5507 Gahhhh
@@simonenope8362 I didnt think they were going to make it. They didnt seem that focus and their mileage was pretty low. The easiest part of the PCT is the desert section. I was averaging 28 miles a day on my thru hike. They were averaging about 11. But kudos for them for trying. Im sure they had a lot of fun
There's a photo of them at the northern terminus: instagram.com/p/B3KNYU0li4v/?
@@franksom8937 oh sweet!! So happy i have a full series ahead then. Gets so annoying following people's journeys that hit a dead end and drop off without another word.
Awesome PCT videos! Watched every one so far.
The beans and veggies dude 🤣
I love the gold under hoodie. Can you tell us about it? I'm always cold and that looks warm and comfy. I will be hiking the PCT this spring. Any advice on warm cloths is very welcome Thanks 🌻
It's a Melanzana microgrid hoodie :)
@@mari.johnson Thank you.
I love onion valley, independence and bishop. The sierras are a challenge but oh so beautiful.
Can't even imagine.
What's your gold base layer with the hood? Awesome video :)
I too remember how good it felt to get down to the Onion Valley Campground parking lot!
City eat city eat city eat! 😂 bonne Année 🥳 et merci Pickleball
👍😉
Great vlog. Let’s support 👍
Absolutely incredible...
After you finished the PCT do you miss the adventure. After this kinda adventure I'd be wondering what's next, How do you top the PCT?
Afterwards I just wanted to sleep haha. Not sure what’s next yet!
Mari, just got back to watching your videos, and so glad I did. You do such a good job filming and editing. Great music as well. I think I told you this before but definitely worth mentioning again. I will be bengewatching these over my vacation. Thanks for sharing y'alls pct as adventure. Congratulations on finishing.
Cheers Paul!
High mountain adventure, cool music, a few days hanging in Bishop, matching bowling shoes.., and Schat’s too.., exciting stuff - indeed 👊😎...
No better bread anywhere😋🥪~:)
Mari, I love seeing your videos. So far, these have all been from before we really met on the trail, so it's cool seeing y'all goofing off before that. Hope you and Nick have been loving life off the PCT. Sending love from MN and hoping to see you two goofballs sometime -Christopher Robin
