I first heard this song a few years ago and i could never forget it. Now here it comes again to my head in a very special moment of my life. I guess it'll always be the one and only song for this feeling inside, when you know your head is supposed to be somewhere and it's nowhere, or everywhere else
The best gig I have ever seen was The Pixies in London, September 1988. This recording from the same tour proves that it's not just nostalgia on my part, but that they really were an immense band at that time. Amazing.
Reminds me once again why they completely changed my life the moment I heard "Surfer Rosa" blasting in Newbury Comics back when I was a Boston University student in 1989. I was very lucky I went to B.U., there was some decent music coming out of Boston back then. Nothing greater than the Pixies of course :)
I think I saw them on this tour...I was in highschool. It was a great show the entire audience was the pit, a big gentle pit. Awesome energy, still one of my favorite shows.
This is one of the best live recordings of them that I've seen. I discovered Beethoven in a church hymn and in A Clockwork Orange. It makes me feel awkward when I'm in a room full of fans with t-shirts from his first tour.
I remember this when this whas broadcasted here in Holland. Still have this on video tape, I think. Watched this so many times back then. 1988? Damn where's the time been?! Anyways... the show whas called 'Villa Onrust'. A program by the VPRO.
I think that movie exposed The Pixies to an entire generation. I was born in '75 and this song was absolutely part of the high school alt music scene but it was never the main pixies song like debaser or monkey's gone to heaven. Now,it's most likely their most revered song, thanks is part to Fight Club.
i think its safe to say that fight club an then later on observe and report is the reason that this song has such modern success ... love the pixies after fight club "i became.. Addicted"
yup " you met me at a very strange time in my life " INDEED! I saw the trailer/ featuring this pixies song, so i had to fucking see THIS MOVIE, fight club, i was not disapointed, this movie nailed it. this song was a perfect credits song...it's a perfect song anyway...that was in more ways than one a way for EVERYONE, to hear a GOOD song, no matter the vehicle.
Yes, stupider is technically a word even though it sounds ridiculous. Anyways, fight club was amazing. That movie was filled with hidden themes and philosophies that make the story absolutely brilliant. The acting and film making was so incredible that over a decade later it still holds up in today's entertainment industry.
Listen to .. Weezer's "My name is Jonus" & "The Sweater Song" - Radiohead's "Creep" - Nirvana's "Sliver".....Just to name a few. The influence of the Pixies' is just so obvious. One of the Greatest Most influential bands of all time....
Ok...Top 8 songs from 1988 Position Artist Song Title 1 George Michael Faith 2 INXS Need You Tonight 3 George Harrison Got My Mind Set On You 4 Rick Astley Never Gonna Give You Up 5 Guns N' Roses Sweet Child O' Mine 6 Whitney Houston So Emotional 7 Belinda Carlisle Heaven Is A Place On Earth 8 Tiffany Could've Been
I like how the rock, but they don't try to "look" like the rock. You could see these guys (and gal) working for IBM during the day, rocking out at night. They don't have to try, they just do

The dislikes came out of spite on the guy who said this 'there is a reason this video has no dislikes.'
There is a reason this video has no dislikes.
It's Joey making his guitar sound exactly like the track that does the trick for me.
Oh.. ♡.♡
Thank god I knew about The Pixies years before fight club.
Fucking awesome movie... you gotta watch it. This song was in it's soundtrack.
