You commented about the Deschutes, the pines on the west side but completely didn't bring up Pilot Butte! Now thats a view!!! I currently live in North Carolina and the biggest view we have is "artifical". Its the Charlotte motor speedway and the skyscrapers of Charlotte it self.... nothing natural. How I miss my home in Redmond.
As someone wanting to live and move my life from Michigan to oregon I’d have to bite the bullet pay the more expensive option, east side looks way to much like Michigan/Indiana/Ohio only nice thing is you might see the mountains so this was very helpful I’ll look for my forever home not on the east side would love essentially living right on top the mountains would be beautiful, peaceful, quiet, just perfect I mean granted how the neighbors are
I grew up in Michigan and my parents have lived in Bend for the past 15 years. I can't say how different Bend is from the midwest. Michigan is GREEN, it gets ton of rain and has hundreds of deciduous trees that create beautiful green canopies in the summer, thick forests and beautiful falls. In Bend, there are some deciduous trees that have been planted along the westside to give it that fall feel in places, but even the forests on the westside are super dry and dusty. The eastside, and pretty much a lot of oregon around Bend is indeed junipers, brush and lava flows. Michigan gets thunderstorms and rain during the summer, and overall is very moist. The western states however and where Bend is, is extremely dry. All of it. The summers are dry and it has been consistently more and more drought, wildfires and smoke. Green Grass is also not natural which is pretty abundant in the midwest. I love Bend and it reminds me of an Ann Arbor or something of that size but it is very different from Michigan other than it has 4 seasons. While the nature in and around Bend is beautiful in its own right, having grown up around so many types of trees, residential lakes, lush forests, flowers, and even a different type of snow, the hard part for me is accepting that dry desert vibe. But hey, less gray days and more sun.
Eastside hands down! Westside is a congested tourist trap! Fun to go to after work/on weekends to play around at, but it's overpriced and the traffic can get really annoying especially during the Summer. Eastside is more open, the snow melts faster, the views of the mountains are better, the desert terrain is basically maintenance free, and the traffic is way better for everyday driving! Plus the neighborhoods are quieter, A LOT cheaper, and the HOA fees are far less/non existent.
dean ween- east side

An excellent breakdown!
Nice video!
Thanks Nelson!
forget that, southside!! AKA sunriver
Hopefully we will get to do a Sunriver video this summer, call it a staycation. 😆
Definitely Southside. Short walk to the river for fishing
nice to learn some benefits of both sides.
Any community’s between bend and la pine?
Not actual cities, Sunriver is the most well known... a Huge tourist destination but also Three Rivers South is another community along the river.

Ha, that sounds like a good recap to me, except I didn't say that so... matter of fact. Gotta keep the viewers guessing.
