- Scenario B video is now released:
• Create your Own Cloud ...
Keeping all game saves updated on multiple devices automatically is so great for people who switch gaming devices frequently.
Only scenario A setup is covered in this video. I will make another video for Scenario B if you guys are interested in that.
Scenario A will work with more than 2 devices too but there are high chances to miss updating files due to the complexity of the connection.
I suggest using scenario A with two devices only.

In video:07:14 typo it should be
systemctl --user stop syncthing
systemctl --user disable syncthing
For Disable autostart.
can scenario b be on a raspberry pi 3?
I think you made an error in your correction comment that you have made. You have put 7:14 when I think you mean to say 7:37. The text at 7:14 is actually correct. Had me a little confused for a second.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS GUIDE!! Now I can play Dark Souls 3 on my PC and Steam Deck, I'm crying tears of joy, thank you!!!
no problem enjoy!
Man well done. this is so great . I can switch between my pc and steam deck so freely now.
You are THE best tutorial channel for all things steam deck. You are the reason I was able to setup all my emulators and roms correctly. Keep up the great videos.
thanks, buddy !
thank you so so much, this is super helpful now i can enjoy my games on super high settings on my PC and when I leave the house i have all my progress synced to my steam deck, thank you thank you
No problem buddy. Happy Gamig 😊
Scenario B tutorial would be amazing! Thanks!
will be uploaded this month.
Someone else already said it, but I will, too: you give out the best guides for steam deck/emulation around, between everything you can find on youtube. I hope you'll grow a lot of followers, because you deserve it. Happily subscribed.
agree with you. this channel deserves 100,000k subscribe, it has became my emulation dictionary here lol
Appreciated for loving the content I created here. I have to keep putting out better content and bring this channel into level. Thanks for the support!
Work like a charm, your step by step explanation is enlightenment. Thank you
Glad it helped!
I used your method for two devices three devices. Handhelds worked perfect
Cool idea. Also interested in the Scenario B.
I'll be doing B using my NAS as the repo. I think you just do method A between your repo and each device you want to connect. So whenn I save on Deck, it updates NAS, and when NAS updates, it updates desktop / deck.
Thank you for making this video. Just did this, this morning. It works really well
Great to hear!
Thank you so much! I've been trying to do this for longest. Now it's finally working!
Glad it helped!
This is the most amazing and accurate tutorial for Syncthing! Thank you for this clear and instructional video!
Thank you ! 😊
I had no idea you could do that! That's really cool, Man! Thank you!
thanks, Manny you are the best man over here. always love your comment!
Just wanted to say i know this video is for steam deck but i used this tutorial to set up syncthing/synctrayzor on my windows pc and my rog ally. I now have cloud saves working through my 1tb emulation build thanks to this! Works perfectly for Yuzu/Ryujinx/RCPS3 and Cemu!
Great to hear this. thank you. The pc setup will be almost the same as for steam deck.
Hey man! I just want to say thank you for this amazing tutorial. You took your time to explain everything well detailed and well paced. It helped me alot to have a greater gaming experience. I wish you all the best and I made sure to subscribe and learn more with you. I feel like you deserve more appreciation. I know this ain't much but it's honestly what I can give you. It's from the bottom of my heart. Once again, thank you so much for you help!
Thanks man even you just say thank you that means a lot to me. Appreciated for the support. I made another syntching video 2 weeks ago. Maybe that video will be helpful for you in the future too.
very nice content men, i love it
Greetings from Spain
Really appreciate your videos! Great job!
This is exactly what i was looking for!
glad it helped
Like! Waiting for Scenario B!
I'm waiting too !! ❤
Same!
Amazing tutorials out of hundreds of videos you the one that got me through install yuzu and also saved synch
Thanks ! Glad my content helped you.
Amazing Tutorial, Have got everything working and Syncing.
Something to note for people who might deploy this, when setting up share on Steam deck it is important to open the 'actual save folder' not the shortcut in emudeck file system. You can easily get to the correct location by right clicking and going Show target and using that path when setting up your share folders.
that's a great tip. thanks
Excellent tutorial, subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
I started playing fallout 3, the only 3d fallout game with out cloud save and this video helped out alot!
Thanks a lot for this great tutorial! Your tutorial was really clear and effective. I tried it out and it worked perfectly for me. Keep up the awesome work!
Great to hear!
This is pretty solid. Thanks man.
thanks dude!
Thank you so much, great explanation!
No problem enjoy it!
Awesome tutorial. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Syncthing is great. Syncing saves between Desktop, Laptop and Steam Deck.
New sub. I haven’t bought these handheld devices because it’s just not powerful enough to do ps3/360 and under emulations at the settings I want. Hopefully 2024-5 will be the year. I’ll use your helpful guides then. Thanks
Thanks buddy. Yeah the handheld is growing so fast I believe in next 2 years we will be able play all game at 60fps with 1080p display.

Very nice tutorial. Just managed to sync my RPCS3 and Yuzu from my desktop windows (which I also stream locally to Steam Deck via Emu-Deck / Non-Steam Game / Emulation Station ;p) with my Batocera Mini PC connected to the TV.
So generally I can play Virtua Fighter 5 ;p on Batocera (big TV), Desktop PC and Steam Deck :)
Funny thing - streaming locally is actually pretty great as the battery consumption on Steam Deck is low and you can easily play GTA V or some (AAA) PS3 games that normally Steam Deck can't handle :)
How did you set yuzu up😭
I CANT WAIT TO SET THIS U!!!
Thank you for your tutorial
Thank you very much for the video
Hey man always love your videos. Can you make a syncthing for Rog Ally? Thankyou.
the rog ally syncthiing setup will be very similar to steam deck. you just don't need to set up the auto-start feature on Ally. the rest of. process will be the same.
I plan to make an update video for this soon as well.
I recommend using a third device for sync. I used it on my deck, my pc and a raspberry pi that is always running. That way I don't need the deck and the pc to both be on so that the save can be transferred.
Thanks for the recommendation bro. I have made the scenario 2 video (with their device) on channel.
Thank you so much you're awesome ❤. One question though, where are the citra saves I've been losing my mind looking for it.
"/Emulation/Saves/citra/saves/sdmc"
It should be here.
Hey great guide! However, I'm struggling to sync my yuzu saves using the folder location in the video? I have a feeling its the PC one that's not right, do u have an update location to fix this issue?
im a dummy. i was trying to blow the dusk off of YOUR monitor cause i thought it was my monitor for a second (*i just woke up*) heh
thanks this is a good one. i got it lol
This isn't working for Yuzu. I followed the video and I even tested creating a file in the folder on the SteamDeck and creating a file in the folder in Windows, and both files showed up on each device.
I've played a bit on SteamDeck and I get the notification on Windows that says SyncTrayzor has finished syncing. Yuzu in Windows does not show the new updated saves.
Hopefully this helps someone else, I may have missed it, but you have to delve further into the save folders for it to work (at least for me).The save directories for both are
Windows: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\yuzu
and\user\save\0000000000000000\42DC52CEA9A95404971B12609D5B9E9A
Steam: /home/deck/emulation/storage/yuzu/nand/user/save/0000000000000000/65D108651DD3F9A58129B6910664CA83
Of course the final folder names will vary for your own installs.
@@Nojamforme Thank you so much for this! It helped me a lot!
Yes, for yuzu we have to set folder for each game. Yuzu will sign a unique game save folder on different devices even for same game. My new syncthing video will cover this more in-depth
Day 325, almost a year, for waiting the scenario b cloud save tutorial
its coming this month.
hi, on the step where it says to enable on the konsole. i keep getting an error about the service not existing. i have made sure to place the service file in the correct location, any suggestions as to what i can do?
I have multiple emulation PC rigs in my house, and I use the OneDrive as a sort of cloud save for all the save states, memory cards, etc. to keep all my saves the same, regardless of which PC I'm playing on in the house. So, is it possible to use Syncthing to link the folders in the Steam Deck to the One Drive folders on my PC? Basically, could I change the folder location from the ones you used at the end of the video to the OneDrive folder locations, and would it still work?
Did you ever figure that out?
Does Syncthing work with symlinks? Emudeck uses symlinks for dolphins save location
Hey, well done. I have a question about syncthing, and I don't find info anywhere. Can I question to you?
Are the save files at the same location for standalone emulators? If not where can I find them? I used your videos for stand-alone installations
when i try to get the folder to share on my steam deck it says stopped instead of up to date, and it says in the error section missing path, but ive check the path and its correct, any ideas what i'm doing wrong
Could you do the scenario b video now, I'm stilll having trouble setting up syncthing
When will you post video about scenario B ? Thanks
great tutorial, any guide for Scenario B?
Plan to make one in the near future
@@ED4T thanks, i will wait for your update.
Hi again, sorry i just wanted to know if scenario B vid is updated? Or can guide me how can i do it?
! pls help ! i desided to turn off syncthing via console by following commands systemctl --user stop syncthing
systemctl --user disable syncthing. But when i tried starting it again i couldnt acess web version (site cant be reached) and the app window syncthing-GTK is empty. what do i do to reenable it? reinstalling the app didnt work. the service file is still in the place. i tried pressing shutdown/restart daemon and reenabling via console command 2 times but still - nothing works
For me having syncthing start automaticly makes it so steam application cannot start on steamos desktop mode most of the time. It says Steamwebhelper.exe is not responding. If i do systemctl --user stop (and) disable syncthing its fixed...
Will this work with EmuDeck for my emulated game saves.
Show us how to put syncthing in a cloud. I can't always have two devices turned on
Have you made a video on scenario B?
will be released this month.
hello, have you ever tried syncthing for steam deck and android (retroid pocket 3+), I've been trying to make this work, like I want my steam deck emulator save file sync to my retroid pocket 3+ emulator save file. I'm using duckstation as emulator for my steam deck and retroarch for my retroid pocket 3+, should I be using the same emultor for both device so that the syncthing will work?
i think you should use same emulators just on safe side. not sure if they treat their save files same.
To be clear this only works when both Devices are on and running Syncthing right? If I turn off my PC will it start syncing once I turn it on again?
I would use this for Steam Deck to PC with the Steam Deck always on but in rest mode most of the time
yes you are right. this only works when both device are on and both have syncthing are running.
My synching is empty just white space...
2023-08-30 22:20:43: Failed to create folder root directory mkdir /run/media/mmcblk0p1/Emulation/saves/retroarch/saves: file exists
2023-08-30 22:20:43: Error on folder "Retroarch" (retroarch): folder path missing
I thought creating a .stfolder in the directory would work.
so confused lol
any ideas, might be a simple fix
Do I need to disable the official steam cloud service for this to work?
Also my pc has games across 4 different drives/ssd's, how would they all connect to the steamdeck internal and external sd? Would I need to seperate exactly what games I have on the deck with the pc and just mix and match? That sounds annoying, and if there are games that aren't supposed to be there will that just fill the steam decks storage? I was wanting this for the steamlibrary but I have 4 on pc. Please help me.
you dont need to disable the official steam cloud service. this is mainly games that does not support steam could save. if you have 4 different ssd and drivers, i suggest you only link specific game save folder to your deck to avoid syntching too much files to the deck.
Wait, the konsole commands to enable and to disable autostart, are the same and in the same order?
07:14 typo it should be
systemctl --user stop syncthing
systemctl --user disable syncthing
for disable auto start.
Good catch. thanks
will this impact the battery life/performance if it's always running in desktop and gaming mode?
it will take some battery life for sure. but i did not notice a lot. It is acceptable. It only eats battery when there are files need to be updated.
My syncthing on windows has Stopped next to my folder, steam deck says Up to Date
thanks for the tutorial, I really needed this for back up saves, but I'm having a problem with with ppsspp saves, I have tried Ryujinx, Yuzu, and RPCS 3 and backs the saves no problem, but when it comes to ppsspp saves, it doesn't seem to recognized and comes up with an error "Folder path Missing"
I will double check PPSSPP and let you know soon.
Any luck getting it to work? Mine says its up to date but I find my windows PC not having my latest saves
First command:
systemctl --user enable syncthing
second command:
systemctl --user start syncthing
and imagine that i want do this with more games, i have to do it one by one?
Great video but I'm a little confused in the paths. Do I share the folder of every individual game?
I have each individual save game folder being backed up. Or should I just share the prior folder that keeps all the games?
you only need to back up the prior folder. there is no need to do that for individual games. unless all game saves are in completely different path directory.
Can you make a short video for yuzu? My games are not syncing.
The file to start syncthing in gaming mode only worked for first boot but does.not start syncthing for subsequent boots.
I put a test file from pc to deck, which was good then deck to pc and that was good. I am sharing home, emulation, storage, yuzu, nand, user, save folder from deck to pc.
From pc to deck I am sharing c,users, accountname, appdata, roaming, yuzu
But my saves from pc to deck is not showing on game selection of a game.
Could you showcase how to do Scenario B?
Yes I plan this for future video
Would this work for emulators and rom save files
How do you uninstall and stop the background service/startup service?
I haven't been able to update my steam deck OS and I think it's since I did this
check out 07:35 i showed the command. just type in those command into konsole it will disable auto start
I installed SyncTrayzor as you instructed but it won't start syncthing for me. I keep getting an error: "Failed to initialize config: config file version (37) is newer than supported version (35). If this is expected, use -allow-newer-config to override."
Can you help?
Never mind. I figured it out. I found the config.xml file within AppData and just changed the version from 37 to 35 and now it works
Thanks for this info. If anyone has similar problems this can definitely help.
Is it possible to have Synology drive launch in this similiar manner to running while in game mode?
Yes, it will. I have already demonstrated how to enable the Syncthing in the gaming mode in this video.
@ED4T I actaully tried to do this myself to no avail i am able to get the application to launch (modifiying the script in the video ) however it dosent when i am in gaming mode do you have any advice on how to do so? i just invested into a synology system and this was a primary feature for me, would be very greatful.
Sadly the service file doesn't seems to work for the service to start in gaming mode. Everything works for me but only in desktop mode.
I haven’t got time to test that with new steam os update. Maybe because the new update. I will confirm this.
@@ED4T I changed the restart to always in the service file and it seems to work fine now.
please post Scenario B ^_^
Would have different mods on 2 different devices mess up the game save?
Yes it will. The new saves will always overwrite the old ones.
show me access denied in windows, any solution?
Is this only one way? When I save from my pc the save will show on my steam deck, but when i save on my steam deck it does not update on my pc
it's both way. But be sure the deck is still on when the pc starts so that the files can be transferred.
My dumbass enabled this thinking it would automatically update with newest file from each computer, it does not. It takes what ever file is on the computer you share to, no matter what. Bye bye 2 hours of progress👋
How about ppsspp?
Would this process work with a Nintendo switch?
Only with NS emulator
For some reason the daemon completely disappeared from my steam deck after a update.
Ok the issue appears when I unsinstall decky. For some reason both are linked.
If you previously installed synching plugin from decky that could be happening. Also the latest steam is messed up syncthing too. The syncthing won’t auto start from desktop mode.
@@ED4T I didn't even install the syncthing plugin, that's the weird part. It should have no ties with decky
where did you get the motion assist file???????
It comes with GPD device
@@ED4T i got it working, thank you for responding. your channel is great & its helped me so much. ♥️ keep up the good work
Synctrayzor just keeps saying it can't run Syncthing.
outdated, please make an updated tutorial. the trayzor version of the software is no longer available.
dont know what you are talking about. the syncthing trayzor GitHub webiste is always available for download.

Thanks buddy. I just saw it. Appreciated for the support.
scenario B PLEASEEEEEE
Yes sir ! 😊
@@ED4T I'm trying to use an android phone as a dedicated hub "center device" so when i take my steamdeck or laptop out they will sync back to that via the internet and update my home computers.
Bro never made a tutorial for scenario B 😭
no worry will make one for sure.
Can I do this for steam games?
if the steam game does not support could save yes, you can. all you need to do is share the game save folders on each device.
Thank you for guide how to lose my 2 days of progress.
Was overwrited by old saves from PC and can't restore saves although file versioning was enabled but no .stversion folder was presented in sync folder. Syncthing is not designed to sync but only to transfer files, but there are MUCH more reliable ways to do this like USB stick/drive or cloud storage. Syncthing is NOT an easy magic stick to sync you saves.
