Thank you for pointing out the shortcomings of the west hunters. Many don’t realize they aren’t true adjustable.

I got my first set under the same assumption as most 2 or 3 years ago. Maybe it'll save someone some real grief down the road

I was just mounting my scope on my SL .30 with the West Hunter rings! I really do like them. Keep the great content coming!!!

They are pretty good mounts in my opinion. I have a one piece cantilever from Westhunter for a specific gun. Now if I could remember which one....

Thanks man. It's good to hear someone got something from one of my video's.
I'm one of those guys that can talk airguns for hours with anybody

    Interesting "fix"!
I also assumed that those were made to be able to shim the scope but it is in fact only to be able to use the same mounts for different "tools"
[The Monstrum one does look pretty nice but yeah as you mentioned dovetail is very common on airguns]

if you don't under stand how to set up evenly its a good way to take out your scope for good by binding it up. that coast you more then getting the wight one for the application the first time. if you fully under stand what it can do and how to do it you can save by not having to rebuy new more expensive scopes not knowing can be expensive. sound like a thin line to try to shoot long range or it can get real expensive. great video i bet there a lot of bent non tracking dented scope out there because the person didn't under stand how to use them.

I'm guilty of cutting shims for sure and probably still have some under the rear scope ring somewhere. Adjustable mounts are a lot easier for sure

That sun optics was similar to B Square scope mounts I use 24 years ago. They come in single piece and 2 pieces fully adjustable for windage and elevation.I have mounted them on spring piston air rifle with no problem.Once the gimbal screws are lock it will not move under recoil.
I wonder if sun optic copied B Square because B Square came first.Sun optic has something to do with Benjamin hand pump.

If I had to bet I'd say they both imported them instead of making them?

Ray, have you seen the Cold Shot base? It's not necessarily for the same application as discussed in the video, but damn is it cool. BUT its $475 lol! I have seen that fella Bill on the My Aigun Range channel use it a lot and it does seem to be a precision instrument. Anyhow, you're probably aware, but if you weren't I thought I would mention it.

One of those models is like 300 moa! It would be cool to just dial the base like that. A little spendy for the convenience though huh.
Many years ago I made a really beefy one piece mount for an old RWS model 54 I had. I made it as a two piece mount that had a hardened dowel pin it rocked on to adjust for barrel droop. You had to remove the scope to adjust the angle much like adjusting the stop pin on many mounts.
Never occurred to me to make it externally adjustable though

I can't believe you broke scope mounts you must be actually using a wrench

    • @kidpellet6544
      @kidpellet6544  6 месяцев назад

I used the small wrench that came with that set. They were on my son's FT rig. Kept having a shift and found the rear mount was cracked where it clamps and not tight. Still have that set somewhere.
Put a good set of BKL doubles on it and haven't had a problem yet

@@kidpellet6544 yeah I like bkl mounts and I have West Hunter adjustables I have probably another 10 different styles then you showed in there for different guns and different things different thicknesses some compact Scopes don't like big fat scope mount on them skinny ones for side shot scope mounts to be able to have room can never have enough.

I bent a few Crosman aluminum mounts in my career to make them stay on springers 😂
