Love the channel. Started out karting in senior rotax in the spring and bought a pre evo alonso kart, thanks to watching hrs of Des's videos I've basicly rebuilt my kart, from new braking system, carb adjustment, sticker kit installation, camber ect ect. Power Republic is by far the best channel on RUclips. Having so much fun in my rotax. Just had a rebuild and next is the evo upgrade kit so I can go even faster. Big thumbs up. Look forward to more content in 23. All the best Rob
Huge thanks to Des at Power Republic. My family and I traveled down from Proserpine for the holidays and thought we’d call in and say g’day. Well I’m so glade we did, he’s a absolute champion and all round top bloke. We’re new to carting so to get a chance to talk to Des was fantastic. Any questions we had Des was more then happy to help. He hooked us up with some tools and the right parts for our cart, he even gave us the time and showed us around he’s work shop. We also had a chance to have a look at some merchandise and brought a couple of t-shirts which look awesome. So if anyone is looking to get into carting I highly recommend the Power Republic RUclips channel as it’s made karting so much easier for us to get into with the limited information out there. Thanks again Des
Hey Dez! Video idea: what is the best way to clean your kart after races? Chassis, bodywork, engine, and components. What chemicals to use and not to use? Thanks!
Hey Matt. Best for kart and plastics is soapy water. Best for chain area is de greaser. Best for chain only is chain cleaner on a rag and drag the chain through.
Massive fan of this channel, I bought my first kart this year 401S Rotax Evo. I’ve watched HOURS of your videos to learn everything from tyre fitting, to clutch fitting. I’m reasonably mechanical and wondering if you have a video, or know of a video guide somewhere, on how to strip down and rebuild my engine? I’ve done about 10 hours this year so guess it will be a rebuild soon. Can you help at all? Happy new year, your channel rocks, thank you.
Hey Damian, thanks for the positive vibes. we have a series on our website www.powerrepublic.com.au/collections/videos/products/race-winning-engines-the-rotax-edition-part-one-bottom-end Check it out and grab that if it helps.
Give it a go and see. Stiff kart, OTK soft axle. Works like a dream up here but like everything in karting, try it out and see what works for you. Merry Christmas and thanks for writing in 🙏
Total newbie running a 2020 Arrow AX5 Evo restricted in masters KNSW. Apart from seat time, what's the best way I can learn? I will be running by myself and will be relying on a Mychron 5S for data. Trying to grasp axles, hubs, spacing. What's the next best tool for me to buy: a wheel aligner? Great videos, lots of intel.
big is always better 😉 but seriously, bigger equals more bite. If you want more front, i.e in the wet go big. If you want more acceleration traction, go big on the rear. sounds simple, but try it and if you find it works for you too, then hit me with your results👍
Gday mate im brand new to the sport and support you're channel I am either looking in the wrong place or just plain blind I have a pre evo rotax and am looking for a manual for it do you or anyone on here have a link to this manual thanks in advance
HI Derek shout out from South-Africa, quick question what is the specify specs on the power valve on the older engine? i have the valve turned in all the way and about 13 clicks back out?
Hey Mike, the older ones are good when fresh bellows and cleaned out, still anyones guess where to set them. basically it only closes below 7500rpm, which at our local track is only one corner, the rest are above 7500 so the valve is open and the click don't matter. how slow is your track?
haven taken it on a track yet, trying to figure out the bogging problem on WOT, i see you set the float level on 23,5 mm for best overall performance. is it from the main jet tube just touching that small plate or do you have to press it all the way down? where the float jet closes completly?
Got a question: We found that both of the steering arms on my compkart are slightly bent. Not massively, but a couple of degrees out. We aren't really sure how much is affecting pace, though it has been a bit slower lately. Is there a way to change them without messing with the alignment of the camber/caster? We don't currently have a device to adjust it since we have only raced for a year and a half, and haven't invested in it. Thanks
you could change one at a time and maybe use a tape measure on the inside of the the front wheels? also, maybe use some vice grip pliers so that the steering column doesn't move. Hope that helps and apologies for the slow reply
Easy as, take the fuel line off the carby and blow air into the breather tube, that will add pressure to fuel and make it come out faster through the fuel pick up and fuel line

To remember the difference between Caster and Camber: You buy Castor Sugar at the supermarket where shopping trolleys have heaps of Caster.

@@PowerRepublic that’s awesome. Thank you.
Hey Derek, I have a question regarding TonyKart's brake disc. Which would you recommend? 180mm or the 206mm. Greetings Jordy
180mm to clear the track for jumping kerbs or sliding off track while going for maximum Pole Positions !!!!
cold weather.... stiffen up the kart, but then put a softer axle in?

Great vid man!
thanks mate, got any video ideas for next season?
Are we able to buy the power republic sticker kits for the karts ?
sure can, did you one for a Tony Kart M6 or M7?
When you rebuild engines do you get them machined or do you just hone them?
just re hone them mostly because there isn't enough piston sizes to bore and hone them
Thanks for the answer!! Keep up the good work
