    Will a harmonic balancer puller also work to pull that gear off crank?

  • @JeffreyADodge

    thanks for the video! I didn't have that gear puller tool so I used my 3-armed pulley puller and tugged on the outer gear of the fly wheel - not the bigger inner gear that the starter engages but the smaller one - well, it pull the gear right off the fly wheel. My question is, what is this gear for? do I need to put it back on? sounds like a dumb question but what does it do?

    Could you show the next step of getting the crank out and splitting the two half’s? Thank you for the info

    So mine's got oil in the stator area and flywheel. Can I pull that crankcase cover off to replace the seal while the motor still mounted in the Ranger?

      @@MidNebraskaMotorsports Sure wish you would have mentioned the hole size needed for bolts in the flywheel. It would have been a complete video I think then. Same for the cars but some guys do tell all size bolts are thread sizes in their videos. Not seen one for a polaris flywheel removal yet. And one doesn't want to ruin those threads are make repeated trips to town for bolts with the right thread size when town is over 24 miles away, over and over. Thread size in the flywheel would help a lot, and even the factory service manual doesn't say so maybe they don't know either. But good other than that.

    The excitor came off when I pulled off the fly wheel. Can you tell me what the factory set is at? There is 0-40 and I set it at 0, but it is revving high and my check engine light came on.

    Where can I get this fly wheel puller? Also, can you take that nut off with this whole assembly still on the machine? I tried with a wrench and the motor was turning.

    Can you remove the flywheel with a puller with the engine in the Ranger?

    • @MidNebraskaMotorsports
      @MidNebraskaMotorsports  2 года назад +1

      You can. Depending on year, you might have to remove the fuel tank. The motor really isnt hard to pull tho, if the fuel tank seems too difficult. Thanks for watching! Let me know if there is anything else I can help with. Have you watched: ruclips.net/video/NVcNuBiULFg/видео.html

      It’s a 2010 Ranger 800xp. If I remove the air box and two air hoses it looks pretty good I’m thinking. Thanks for responding 👍

      @@MidNebraskaMotorsports I pulled my tank and the only thing missing is the thread size of the holes in the flywheel to remove it. Seems mine has been worked on before and before I mess the threads up, I'd LOVE to know what is supposed to be the correct size of the threads so I only have to make one trip to town for those. A lot start but don't continue and it's a LONG ways to town from where I live. Not wanting to make many trips to get the right size threads. Length is easy but actual thread size of those holes would be very valuable to know.

    Hopefully you still read comments, my 800 ranger runs while being jumed but as soon as i remove a lead it dies, its a new battery

    • @MidNebraskaMotorsports
      @MidNebraskaMotorsports  8 месяцев назад

      What brand of battery did you get? I have a feeling the battery has a bad cell or it is junk even though it is new. What size are the bolts that fasten the puller to the flywheel?

    • @38denisp
      @38denisp Год назад

      At 4:05 he says 10mm but he doesn't tell what type of tread

    • @kenblack4802
      @kenblack4802 Год назад

      @@38denisp That is the bolt head size, they definitely aren't 10mm on the thread size of the holes in the flywheel to remove it. I want to know myself too.

    Hey so I have a 2001 Suzuki quad runner and I bought it off of this guy and it drives and runs good but it says it’s a semi automatic so you should be able to just put it in first gear and get off the bike nothing will happen but if I put it in first it jumps forward and installs remember it has no clutch and if let’s say I’m in third gear and I stop it’ll stall immediately and I’ll try to drive itself even though I’m supposed be able to stop in fifth gear and it’ll just idle there because it supposed to be a semi automatic the only way I can start out as if I slowly let the shifter down my foot Give it gas the same time I don’t know what to do
