What The Blonde Angel doesn't know is how hot their VUSA Peri-Peri Sauce really is!

I used to install coffee machines in all the Nando's restaurants in the East and West Midlands and up north, been to the Mansfield one a few times to service and repair their machine pre covid. I don't think they have a coffee offering at the moment, didn't see hot drinks on the menu and I haven't been to a Nando's to do any coffee work since late 2020 sadly, always got offered free meals after working in there. Love the food, half a chicken n chips, side of coleslaw and olives. My other half is of Jamaican origin here in Leicester, before I met her I was like you Lee, not a lover of chicken on the bone, since being with her chicken on the bone is the best, so much more flavoursome ! Love my pop with plenty of ice. The chicken is broiled in ovens before they open and then stored under the griddles in heated drawers, they then finish it off on the griddle and slather it in the peri peri of your choice, luvvly jubbly !! 😋Prices have gone up since I went a few years ago. Speaking to the managers and staff at all the Nando's I went to, they get well looked after and paid well, bonus's etc and said they are a great company to work for.

At the beginning (after a short pause), Lee says: “Now then ..” to the Blonde Angel - as if she’s just appeared out of nowhere, and he didn’t know she was next to him!
The food may have been fowl but the bill certainly wasn't poultry.
Nando's is a South African chain, the story goes that it was a one person owned outlet, his name was Fernando, situated close to the old site of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, one of the traders used to eat there, loved his chicken and saw the opportunity to invest in the business and rename it Nando's. We had Nando's the other night, there was no meat on the bone and the price was outrageous. I would have rated it a 1. A new knock off brand known as Pedro's is gaining market share here because they're half the price and are offering a better deal.The only "restaurant" offering bottomless sodas in SA is Burger King. We are really ripped off here. One thing that I have noted is that there aren't many homegrown UK fast food places that have been exported around the world. I was about to say with the exception of Wimpy, however it too originated in the USA and interestingly is now headquartered in South Africa 🇿🇦 too.

That 20% tax is the killer. £30 for two people wouldn't be so bad but the government also having almost half a meal with you is a shocker
Forgive me Lee because I'm going to go on a rant!! £40 at Nandos!!!!! You can get a full chicken at a supermarket for £5. Everything else you had you can get for another £5. £10 all in. £30 difference, I have to work after tax 4 hours, Is it worth it? NO! Support local business I agree with but these big companies are making a fortune. I cannot and will not throw £30 away when I work bloody hard for my money 💸. Sorry! Had to voice that.
Lee I am disapointed in you as a journalist. Nandos is not from Portugal. The restaurant was founded in 1987 in Rosettenville, Johannesburg by Portuguese-born Fernando Duarte and South African-born Robert Brozin. Upon visiting a Portuguese-Mozambican takeaway named Chickenland and trying the chicken with peri peri and then they bought the restaurant.

If you have been to the Algarve and tasted chicken in the Guia region, the home of Chicken piri- piri, Nandos is nothing like. Nandos is peri-peri style from South Africa. Should be served with beef tomato and onion salad with oil and vinegar and oregano, slim fries. I get starter, chicken meal, house wine, sweet, coffee for 14 E. Chicken needs to be cooked on a barbie and are small pieces pieces with a small amount of the sauce on and then a bottle of sauce out on the table to add as required. The sauce is a secret recipe to each establishment.
The sweet potato fries are to die for.

I've always enjoyed my cheeky nandos.the butterfly chicken is always (the "m" word) lol). It is expensive now though. What a funny uplifting video. All I want to say is Thank-you x and always keep it real👍

Post mix drinks come through a chiller, so you shouldn't need ice in them. If you get a pint of coke with ice, you will probably only get 15oz instead of 20 oz of coke.
I love their Chicken Livers in a bun with fries. I always get odd looks when I ask for the bun to be toasted on the inside🤦♂️😀

Used to love a nandos back in my early 20s and took girlfriends there (this was in the pre-"cheeky nandos" days).
Nowadays too expensive for what it is. Can buy some marinade and put the chicken in my ninja and it comes exactly the same as a nandos but a tenth of the cost.
I do like the Vusa sauce though, not sure what happened to the other XX hot sauce that came with the tagline, "Devilishly fiery and highly combustible. Strictly for masochists, the unhinged and those with reckless bravado." - loved that sauce!
Never been to Nando's..not sure if I will now either as it didn't look that great for the price! Liked the ending of the video 🤣🤣

That is well expensive, only ever had two Nando's in my life and I wasn't impressed with either. My own experiences I'd score them 2.5/10, very average food and super over inflated prices.

My eldest daughter loves Nando’s but I’ve heard mixed opinions from lots of people. I’m tempted to try it mate as me and my wife enjoy hot sauces. I guess it’s like Marmite. You love the place or not. Does seem expensive though. Thanks for review both of you and I’ll let you know my thoughts when I try it. Great video as always and thanks for sharing 👍

It is expensive and just not worth the money for generic chain food. Tried it once and after hearing so much about it it was completely underwhelming. Lee, try to maybe find some local Portuguese restaurants or takeaways for review. It’s a whole different world trying proper piri-piri chicken cooked well.

Last time I went there I ate my food, went up to order a pudding and when I got back they had given my table to someone else. The prices are a bit over the top for factory farmed chicken.
Probably have a burger. Speaking of burgers when you are in the US please review a Chick-fil-A, recommended their spicy deluxe burger and their trademark waffle fries. Have great dipping sauces too. For steak, Outback or Longhorn steak houses pretty good. Fish and chips? Try long John Silvers or Cracker Barrel cod and chips (served on Friday only).

You should watch Food Unwrapped on tv, they went to Portugal last week to see where peri peri comes from, apparently it's a small chilli pepper from the former Portuguese territories in Southern Africa

I think you’re right in saying Restaurant Prices. I have to admit to being somewhat conditioned as probably most of them aren’t dead cheap, depending on what you have.

Never seen a Nando's. The only chain we have over in Guernsey is a Costa Coffee. No Starbucks, Macky D, KFC but we did once have a Wimpy bar. But you and Ange as Ken & Deirdre, I think not. More like The Twits!!! 😁
