I am in awe! How you control the uncontrolable! Everything is loose and open and yet every single waterdrop, every molecule of colour is exactly where it has the greatest effect. How is that even possible! You are a true artist!

Absolutely!! He seems to have that intuition and reflexes that gives you years of experience. I have painted dartboard for splattering and ... in short ... next time I think I'll put a shower curtain behind the table ... 😅

Goodness gracious! I just happened along this fantastic video for the very first time!🧐 It is wonderful! I am just in love with the gorgeous soft brilliant flowering poppies and I adore the dynamic dead poppy heads, they appear as though they are going to explode with their seeds! And I can't wait to run out to my garden for a proper twig to carve, this will be my first attempt. I am ready with a pot of India ink. The effect of your drawing with the twig just comes across as so loose and natural vs controlled and precise, which is perfect!
I can't wait to give both a go! What great fun this is going to be!

As always, you inspire us with a great tutorial Paul. I love Poppies! Getting loose with watercolor has been my biggest challenge, but you’re right, the more I do, the easier it gets. Thanks for the line and wash link. I needed to watch that as a refresher. It’s my favorite technique. I loved seeing the happy accident you got with using a non waterproof pen. This happened to me in a recent painting and I absolutely loved the result. It once again taught me the wonder of surprises one constantly achieves with watercolor. The person I gave it to, who is a cartoon artist, also loved the effect. Loved the art work at the end too, especially the poppy faces. That one really stood out. Blessings to you both!
