  • Swimming, mule-riding, farming and shopping are among the activities captured in this compilation of excerpts from 1930s and 1940s amateur films of Purbeck in dorset. This is one of a series of videos produced by the rural media charity Trilith as part of a Heritage Lottery funded project to put selected pieces of archive film back in to circulation by adding contextual material. DVD authored by John Holman of the Wholemeal Media Company. DVD copies of this piece are available from Kingfisher Productions. More material like this in the Showcase on www.transitionvision.tv.

    Such a pity that looking at old films from the 1930s is the best we can do for Time travel... Still, Dorset looked like a wonderful place to be, as it still must be today, I'm sure.
