I was at this show. This was my introduction to to After Forever and the goddess named Floor. What a great show.
Floor was destined for greatness since birth and immortalized till the end of mankind itself ..a true Goddess ...AfterForever was so underated their music is incredible ..love every song they ever did

I saw After Forever twice. The first time in 2002 at the Waldrock Open Air festival in the north of the Netherlands. They were a last minute addition and what a superb addition they were. I had never heard of Floor and After Forever. If I remember correctly they started with My Pledge of Allegiance with the arabic sounding intro. A green light appeared and then out of the mist Floor appeared in her top and black leather pants. That first guitar riff kept ringing in my head when I arrived home way past midnight and I started playing it on my guitar. I was hooked. The second time I saw them was an even bigger treat. They practically played in my backyard (only one mile away). I remember standing face to face with her after the concert when she was signing some merch or something. I was too shy to say anything. I only recall her saying: "No signatures". Amazing band and amazing frontwoman. Very down to earth.
That moment the onion ninjas got to you i concider as one off the most beautiful Floor singing parts ever and its no wonder it brings out the tears. Look at her face - she brings out the emotions in full concentrated Floor force. Magical!
This one of After Forever´s last major appearances on stage. There were some others in 2007, but those were already without Sander Gommans, the growling guitarist (who actually founded this band together with Mark Jansen from Epica, who was pushed out in 2002). Sander suffered from a severe case of burn-out, which is something that Floor would experience later on with ReVamp. The band officially split up in 2009. Floor founded ReVamp a few months after it. Floor also joined a band called MaYaN as a backing vocalist, which is a supergroup that you will probably hear about as you continue on your Epica journey, because each member of Epica, except for the keyboardist Coen, was a member of MaYaN at some point.
About other After Forever´s members: Bas Maas (the other guitarist) was and probably still is Doro Pesch´s guitarist (who was featured on the last AF´s album, by the way). Luuk van Gerven, the bassist, is now a member of Ex LIbris, whose vocalist is Dianne van Giersbergen (no relation to Anneke). Joost van der Broek, the keyboardist, is now very busy with all sorts of metal projects as a producer, even though he is still a keyboardist in Ayreon, for instance. Andre Borgman, the drummer, is currently Trillium´s drummer. Trillium is one of the bands for which Sander Gommans composes music, the other one being Phantom Elite. Trillium is a band whose vocalist is his wife Amanda Somerville, whom you could hear in "Discord" as the backing vocalist. You will also see her in some old Epica´s videos, but that is a story for another day.

The beginning of After Forever was more symphonic since Mark Jansen from Epica was with them. My favourite era was that one but these songs from their final album before disbanding are really good too

There's a Revamp song that very few people have reacted to - Kill Me With Silence (at the Graspop festival). It really showcases her amazing dynamic range and power. I'd love to see you react to it.

Jen-When you do the meet 'n' greet with Floor, you should consider asking her to sign your tattoo and then come back home and get it tattooed on permanently! That would be just TOO cool, I think. As a bonus, she has a pretty cool signature, from what I've seen.
It would be better if she just did it on a piece of paper for me! I have a signed and numbered print of hers already! It’s in the frame, on the wall behind me in my reactions! I have 45/100 and it’s quite possibly one of the best bday gifts I’ve ever received!!!
Aaaahh, Good old After forever! Hey Jen, did you know that the young man in the corner who is working the keyboards, is the same man who now is Arjen Lucasen's right hand who organises the Ayreon live shows and plays the keyboards on stage during those shows? His name is Joost van den Broek and he now is an established producer and Floor is currently working with him again to produce her first solo album. He also produced Floor's Revamp albums. Fun fact to know he is her old bandmate ;-).

But by leaving After Forever, he was also the killer of After Forever. During that time, After Forever could have become bigger than Nightwish, who didn't have an adequate singer at that time.

Floor is not from Deutschland (Germany) but from Nederland (the Netherlands). Yes we are called Dutch, so that is a bit confusing, and the country is often called Holland, but that is only the western part. The whole country is the Netherlands. Floor was not from Holland, but from the place Goirle, close to the Belgian border in the province of North-Brabant.

I love your Nightwish mission. Every music fan should know who Floor Jansen & Nightwish IS/ARE!
Floor was already the most versatile singer in the world, back in her After Forever days - and she really moved the fences in ReVamp. I preferred After Forever and ReVamp back then, and not Nightwish. Tuomas did write phenomenal lyrics, but to me - Floor's power and stage performance - and connections with the crowd, were alfa omega. Epica also had a better grip on the crowd, than Nightwish - and others of the Dutch metal bands.
But in October 12 everything changed.....
And yes, Floor was born with the possibilities to become this - but she has really worked for it!!

When someone is Dutch that means they are from The Netherlands. Not from "Deutschland" as you literally say... 'Deutschland' means 'Germany'. Germany is a neighbouring country of The Netherlands.

When I heard that Tarja was kicked out of Nightwish and they had an open competition for any female singer before they decided on a new one, l was hoping Floor would try out because she would definitely have got the role back then. Oh well, she became the vocalist later, but she would have tried out back then if she didn't feel secure in After Forever
I am happy to report that Floor just confirmed that a fundraising that I participated in to record her solo show in Amsterdam and she just confirmed that it is rescheduled at the beginning of Septembre, so we should be able to get his concert film soon, see the video below.

I haven't heard a lot of After Forever, but it seems to me that Floor aside (she's incredible, no argument) the band was underrated. They have a harder more basic sound than the symphonic one that represents most Nightwish. Great reaction Jen! I wonder if this was part of Unleash the Archer's inspiration

I believe that when nightwish and Tarja parted ways back in 2005 Floor was on the list to replace Tarja. Tuomas never asked Floor to join nightwish because he wouldn't "steal" another bands singer.
Floor alternating her rockvoice with opera, man, it's the most ffin thing in musical history, i wish Tuomas would let her do this more often in Nightwish. Tuomas has a Ferrari (Floor) in his garage, but he only uses it for doing groceries in the village most of the time. That Ferrari needs to be more on the highway showing it's muscles!
Actually Floor has told in several interviews that she has really tested her limits/talent in singing with Nightwish & especially the new Human :II: Nature. album really challenged her like anything else before that.
@@tarmotyyri6733 I know, it's just the powerfull operatic outbursts alternating with her rock voice that i miss in Nightwish. It's sometimes there, but way too less imho.
Yeah I used to say the same thing but after hearing her interviews and paying attention to the music she is indeed being challenged albeit in different ways. But I also miss those bursts of operatic vocals alternating as well, it's what made me fall in love with her voice back in the day.

Maybe yo should listening some entire AFTER FOREVER albums... I recomend you "After Forever" (self-titled album of 2007), "Decipher" (2001), "Invisible Circles" & "Remagine"... You gonna love it.

Her sister wasn't in ReVamp with her they've not been in bands they've performed together yes but not in bands

I don't think her voice has improved over time and that she is like good old wine. In fact, some of the things she sang as a young girl before Nightwish are even better than the great current ones.
If Marc Jansen hadn't left the band, causing it to break up, After Forever might have become bigger than Nightwish in that time.

Your reactions are 1 thing but you have no idea how to decipher and break down anything about the actual music thats being played. the melodies, the cressendos, her soprano and barotone . I dont understand how anyone can learn anything about music on this channel. you talk about the crowd more then the music and thats about it. Do you have any musical degrees and/or backround. Honestly you should take some time and watch the "charasmatic voice" and actually learn something about music.
