I own two J1772 vehicles. I’d still invest in these because they can PowerShare and because they will be future proof to future NACS vehicles. Why buy J1772 now only to replace in a few years…

I’d also assume the adapter is unlocked by an electromagnet- I would think if you took a strong magnet and touched various areas on the adapter you’d probably hear a click when it got the right spot…

When charging your Mach-E, are you able to select your charge rate (eg number of amps) you want to charge by via the Tesla app?

Not easily unfortunately. The only way to adjust the output of the charger is through the Tesla Pros app which is supposed to only be used by professional installers. It's also not a quick thing to do. I set mine up with everything needed to charge at 48amps, and unfortunately I can't adjust that from within the Mach-E.

Did you have to use Tesla One app to commission the UWC before you setup in core Tesla app? Video showed direct to Tesla One app.

You do not have to unless you want to change some internal settings of the EVSE. For instance maximum kW output. I immediately set mine up through the Tesla app with no issues.

@@TechMotoring thanks for this! FWIW for anyone with an issue-I did ultimately need to use Tesla One app to complete setup. Not to commission it, it did default to 60amp max default settings like you said. But consumer Tesla app said UWC wasn’t connected to WiFi even though it was. When I went to Tesla One app, it showed a fault that I had not set region/country. Once I set USA everything synced perfectly.

That's awesome to hear. I'm glad you got that working.

You should have used the red wire and not the white. Or black taped the white wire, showing that is not a neutral ! Or have an electrican review your work.

You are right about this. I actually noticed this after I shot the video and have since fixed my wiring. Good eye. Exactly the reason why I recommend getting a certified electrician to do the work.

Very long video, could have been 1/2 as long for the information given.

Sorry you feel that way. Can't make everyone happy.
