    I had no idea you reread so much throughout the year until these end of year videos 😭😭 if you counted all your rereads too i bet you'd have read over 300 books for sure omg.. I'd definitely love to hear about your rereads more throughout the year like what you reread and why 🥰

    I extra love your end of year content. Thank you for another video! My library hold for Glory just came in so I’ll be adding one more to that readership soon. And now Out There, Woman Eating, Leave the World Behind, and The Cherry Robbers have all moved further up my owned TBR priority list. Random recommendation but I think you could maybe potentially possibly like or even love Lone Women by Victor LaValle, which comes out in late March✨

    I'm so glad you read The Stars and The Blackness Between Them and Recitatif. I appreciate that you always manage to put healthy and inviting levels of open-mindedness into your bookshelves. Also, I loved Honey&Spice, The House of Hunger, and other books mentioned. Once again, thanks so much for your channel.

    One of my favorite quotes from you, is from the Glory Vlog, "I don't need to know how the goat can tweet with his hooves, and drive a car"
    It still cracks me up!

    I loved watching these lists and seeing everything we have in common! I would have loved to see the Top 15 or even Top 20 list from you but I understand why you keep it to the top 10. Plus, I especially feel like your top 10 is just authentically screaming your own personal taste and that's pretty cool. I desperately want to read We Spread and pick up some of your recommended romances to see if we have similar taste in that genre as well.

    I love Carmen Maria Machado so much, both In the Dream House and Her Body and Other Parties are some of my favorite reads. So good. And Men We Reaped! There was a thing we did a long time on book tube that was a annotation project? So we were put into groups of five or six and each person picked a book, read and annotated and then sent it to the next person in the chain, and the goal was to eventually get your own book back, but the project fizzled out after a few rounds, so my book is lost to someone. It was Men We Reaped, and I do need to rebuy it.

    I read Out There after you read it and it is in my top five, I loved it, haven't been able to repeat that experience with other short story collections but that one was a win. I want more Blot content. Also I loved House of Hunger, I know it didn't work for everyone but I really had a good time.
    I have Migrations on my list as well as Women Eating and Silver Under Nightfall.

    I'm so excited for you to read more of the Veronica Speedwell series! Have you read The Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec? I would kind of group it with Daughter of the Moon Goddess and Circe just based on concepts and familial dynamics. I think you would really like it and you don't need any knowledge of mythology to enjoy it.

    I gave Glory a go at the end of 2023 but had to DNF it. Maybe my head wasn't in the right place for it so close to Christmas, maybe the audiobook wasn't for me, or maybe it was a bit too political for my tastes? Definitely was a me problem, not the book's problem. I would consider trying it again.
    One of my biggest surprises for the year was definitely The House Across the Lake. I enjoyed Home Before Dark and Lock Every Door and with hate it was getting I figured I would probably think it was just ok, but I had such a blast with that book. Totally understand why other people didn't love it, but I laughed all the way through the twist (in the best way).

    • @hfollman98
      @hfollman98 Год назад +1

      It's very Black Mirror! Out There is fantastic, but trippy and uncanny at times. It's like a car crash you can't look away from. I'd compare it to Black Museum and Hang the DJ

    • @BooksandLala

      I would call it Gothic - Horror - Fantasy. There are some unsettling descriptions and the vibe is slow and moody. There is some mystery for sure, but not particularly thrilling until a bit at the end. 💕
