Point of Clarity: Sir Lynden Pindling of The Bahamas could actually be seen as the longest-serving Prime Minister, having held that office from 1969 to 1992 (23 years). However, the territory was called "The Bahama Islands" until 1973. From 1969 to 1973 he was Prime Minister but of a territory called "The Bahama Islands". The name was changed to "The Bahamas" after the country's independence in 1973. Therefore his place on this list takes into account the time period after the country's Independence and its name change; the name of which the nation still possesses today.🇧🇸

Sir Lynden Pindling was the first black Premier of the Colony of Bahama Islands from 1967 to 1969 and the first Prime Minister of the Bahamas from 1969 to 1992.

You are indeed correct. However, from 1969 to 1973, the territory was called "The Bahama Islands". Then from 1973 onwards it was called "The Bahamas". In my research this is shown as a significant political difference, i.e. the renaming of the country. You are correct in that he was Prime Minister of "The Bahama Islands" from 1969. But since the territories' current name is "The Bahamas" he is officially seen as the Prime Minister of the Bahamas from 1973 to 1992. Thanks so much for that input of clarity though!
