We, Guyanese, are welcoming people to all foreigners and we never treated any foreigners bad at our airports or or those trying to enter our country because we are accepting to a fault. We are, also, are far from perfect. Our country at one time was the food basket of the whole Caribbean. I am extremely proud of St Kitts. Unlike those in the top five where a free university degree is available. Many citizens pay to go overseas to study. Thus, our position on this list points to our people’s desire to excell. All by the grace of God- God is in all our struggles!
As people of the Caribbean diaspora, we should all be proud.Think about it , nationwide the US has an adult literacy rate of 79% in 2022. Why then do many of us are so quick to embrace systems that are not as proficient as ours? Third world nations as many of them are wrongly labeled are ahead of developed nations in many ways, this is why they will always drain our Human Resources.” The US is wealth driven therefore investment in the building blocks of society is not a priority. Free college is important, however we must build jobs in our diaspora so the brain drain to developed nations do not continue, not just jobs but good paying jobs. Barbados stands out for it’s salaries. I was shocked years ago during the minimum wage debate to find out Barbados minimum wage was almost equal to that of the rich US; what a shame.
Sonia Kirpalani please explain your second sentence: "Unlike those in the top five where a free university degree is available". I AM PROUD OF MY ISLAND NATION I WAS EDUCATED IN THAT BRILLIANT SYSTEM ME AND MY TWO CHILDREN AND THEIR BOTH HAVE EXCELLED ABROAD BOTH HAVE GRADUATE DEGREES IN THE SCIENCES CHEMISTRY AND COMPUTER SCIENCE. GOD BLESS OUR NATION HOME.
As someone who was born and educated in my early years in one of those top 3 islands, including attending 1 of the TOP high-schools, I can attest 100% to the validity of this video. I realize a tremendous focus was put on Universities in this piece, but the educational success of the Caribbean countries is rooted in its primary and secondary educational system (i.e equivalent of K - 12th Grade in the U.S.). It's important to draw that distinction, since post-secondary education is a tremendous challenge for the islands, considering there are so many bright and eager minds, but limited opportunities for training and employment.
You are so right, when you think of the old people who only had in most cases just a primary education and their skillful way of writing and calculating it's amazing, after independent so many of the services were run by people with what simply was an high school education and it was run very well I'm talking such thing as the transport system and the like.
You are so right. That K-12 is so critical and it is in those grades Black students in the USA are turned away from education. That is why I have said previously, if you have family in the Caribbean send your children to the Caribbean to be educated K-12 and especially clarify their minds in respect to long term direction.
When I look at some historical videos of the public service utilities airline railroad the transportation system that was run by people who only graduated from our local college / high School and how good those systems were maintained and run and then afterwards they started putting guys that was educated in America and Europe and everything went to the ground one of the biggest thing that imported was corruption. So thank you for saying it because I sure have been thinking it.
Late to the conversation, but it's so true! Was a decent student back home because I liked too much fútbol and television. Parents moved here, the teacher saw how I was finishing math tests earlier than everybody else, and called my parents after she wanted me to show her how I was getting these answers so quickly, "This boy needs to be skipped at least 3 grades!" I was a genius in the States at a school where the kids go to top USA universities. Yes. Send your kids to the schools back home is correct.
Just a fyi as of Feb 2022 : The nation's literacy rate is almost perfect at 98 percent, as education in St Kitts and Nevis is free and mandatory for the first 12 years. The overall enrollment of students in primary school is 83 percent and 91 percent for secondary school.Feb 15, 2022. I’m so proud to be a kittitian

George St. Kitty Navis who is doing this survey if these universities in some of these Caribbean countries are free why their literacy rate is that high and their education is free some why yes Cuba is because lots other Caribbean islands turn to Cuba for education
@@augreybaker9800 Chile wherever you went to school, you need to go back and brush up on your command of the English language. Not one proper sentence or punctuation in your little rant.
When our government decides to stop cutting the educational budget and the parents of children who are from lower economic strata, begin to see education as a valuable resource for their child/children to have, especially in our inner cities, then Jamaica will be right up there with Cuba. Fun fact: Singapore's educational system was so bad, it was almost nonexistent, but they came to Jamaica, studied our system, went back home and adopted perfectly. Now they are right up at the very top with the best. If you ever happen to see a note book from Singapore that the students use, you'd think it was written in Jamaica. So if they can move mountains with what we currently have, why are we not moving the world?

Proud of all the Caribbean Islands mentioned. Especially, my country Barbados 🇧🇧. And also, not to forget the excellent British system that contributed to our education
@@oyaami1874 did you listen to the beginning of the video? British system contributed to high level of education. It is time to move forward and make the World a better place.
Yes it was a system based on the British but it takes the will of the people to educate themselves and to realize it’s importance. As the saying goes you can take a horse to the water but cannot make him drink it. Caribbean people have strong willpower
As we do so often, Haiti is over-looked likely because of language. As a Vincy working as a dentist for many years in Boston but with most of my experience being in the English-speaking islands mentioned I feel Haitians, despite their poverty are the most educated. There is great prejudice against Haitians but we need to be even-handed and respectful of them. Without Haitians most Black people will likely still be in slavery. On the broader subject of education, yes Caribbean peoples have done a fairly good job of educating our people. In the Caribbean, adults, related to children or not, expect much from children and are not accepting of excuses. In other countries (I resided in UK, Canada, USA) they have minimal expectations mostly on account of their own racism. Studies by the Journal of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, (Daedalus) say the Caribbean surrendered our position to Nigeria for the educational achievements of all migrant groups. Yes, ALL.
And I believe that you are right about the Haitians being the most educated in large measure except if we were to include Cuba in this equation. Most of the Haitians I have met have a healthy entrepreneurial sense and a knowledge of their own history that is not so among most of the rest of us in the Caribbean. But this is just from personal experience.
This video listed the top 10. Haiti is not in the top 10 in the Caribbean when it comes to literacy rates as it is currently at about 60% of its population. No one is discounting the contributions of Haitians and I can attest that some of the brightest people I’ve met in my studies in the US are from Haiti. However the data doesn’t lie. Language is not an issue here as Cuba is number 1.
It is unfortunate that the over 2 million educated Haitians in foreign countries are not making a change back in their motherland of Haiti. If Haiti is going to become prosperous and wealthy, educated Haitians, overseas will have to step up and help their develop and recover from it’s impoverished state.

One correction to your video, pursuant to section 76(1) of the Education Act, Chap. 39:01 of Trinidad and Tobago, compulsory schooling ends at 16 in that country, not at 15 as stated in your video. Maybe you can make that change.

Now, that Guyana has found oil and is about to become a rich country, we Guyanese, would not have to suffer the treatment or any injustice that were dealt out to us at various airports throughout the Caribbean. Our government will bring my our own airline “ Guyana Airlines” so we travel back and forth to Guyana, non stop.
Proud to know other Caribbean islands come to JAMAICA to study🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🙏🏿
Let’s keep up the good work our Caribbean brothers and sisters 💜💯👏🏼👏🏼💪🏼🤗🫂
Very informative video that highlights the brilliance of our people
I am extremely proud of St Kitts.
Yes indeed totally agree with you . All in all we little but we talliwah
St. Kitt's and Nevis. Not just St Kitt's.
Sonia Kirpalani please explain your second sentence: "Unlike those in the top five where a free university degree is available". I live in one of those top 5 countries and persons studying in those countries EARN their degrees through hard work and good grades. No FREE University degrees AVAILABLE here, nor to my knowledge, in the other islands #1 to #10. So please explain what your state meant. Thanks.
@wilmurmarton. You appear like the cantankerous type. I am not fro St. Kitts but when I read your comment I thought there was no need to pick a fight over this. I don't think the person was trying to suggest anything negative. Don't think the author owes you or anyone an explanation. Sorry 😢
Proud Jamaicn. Thanks for the info(s) on rest of caribbean famiies.
Very proud of my Caribbean brothers and sisters. Keep up the great work. Now is not the time to slow down we have to keep pushing and climbing higher❤️❤️😂🇩🇲

I am proud of my beautiful inland Barbados 🇧🇧 ❤
I AM PROUD OF MY ISLAND NATION I WAS EDUCATED IN THAT BRILLIANT SYSTEM ME AND MY TWO CHILDREN AND THEIR BOTH HAVE EXCELLED ABROAD BOTH HAVE GRADUATE DEGREES IN THE SCIENCES CHEMISTRY AND COMPUTER SCIENCE. GOD BLESS OUR NATION HOME.
Bim I’m proud of you 🇧🇧
As someone who was born and educated in my early years in one of those top 3 islands, including attending 1 of the TOP high-schools, I can attest 100% to the validity of this video.
Hallelujah! The foundation is very important.
We are one of the smallest caribbean Island and most times looked over. We take Education very seriously. Proud Kittitian !!!!!
Proud of our beautiful Grenada Isles of Spice and all the other wonderful Caribbean countries too, praise God.
It is said that Bajans love to use big words to show how educated they are. Stan up, Barbados 🇧🇧!!
Beautiful, Congratulations to all the counties
I am from Jamaica, wish education was not that expensive and more of the lower economic students could go to college.
Also wish more parents will pay attention to their children’s educational development
You have spoken well my sister
So called Dominica why they called it that Granada upper than Jamaican st.

Good to see Grenada up there though....used to be higher during Maurice Bishop time as he was also very focused on adult literacy
Micheal Manley as well.
Im a Jamaican, but remember those days..
Grenada and that GBSS has quietly produced some remarkable students. Many who’s children are continuing the excellence of their parents.

Happy for this information. Proud of all the countries considered, but extremely proud of Trinidad and Tobago. I'm so happy for Cuba 🇨🇺 because I know it can't be easy with the Embargo and Sanctions imposed on them, yet they Excell. Take a Bow 🙇♀️👏. Love 💘 my Island 🏝 people.

I am proud to be a recipient of the education from the British system preparing me for the life. Well done. Listening to all the countries, I am delighted at the history of Cuba and the precedent over the years.
As a Grenadian i am proud of my little island
I'm TrinbagonIan, and lived in beautiful Grenada for 10 great years. Grenades education system is very high. My son is an engineer and the other graduated with honors and does his own business.
Just imagine what could have happened in Cuba, without the U.S.imposed sanctions and embargo.
So so true. They have the most doctors per capita in the world and better health services that the US.
I am thinking, just imagine what's going to happen when they do take their knees off their neck, wow.
Cubans would be no different than the other Caribbean people...circumstance force their focus on Surviving between Two DEVILS..

Just imagine what could've happened in Cuba if Fidel Castro had given the people free and fair elections like he promised?
Correction, Dominica isnt the only island still with Caribs. St/ Vincent also does and isthe motherland of the descendants of Black Caribs in South America eg Honduras known as the Garifunas.
We have the true Caribs
I will say this FOREVER, the teacher that taught me and INSTILLED in me the IMPORTANCE of EDUCATION besides my parents, was a Jamaican teacher, Ms Riley. Yeah! For Cuba. Despite the wicked sanctions against it, it still manages to have excellent education. Its medical doctors are tops.
Yep👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Jamaica you need to do better in educating your people. It’s disturbing to see young people not attending school and not being able to read.
Congratulations to Cuba . The best of the best doctors in the world in my opinion
The Caribbean nationals are gifted people-bigUp!
Well done, St Kitts & and Nevis. 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤proud of you all.
Proud to be of your heritage..❤
I'm NOT surprised at Number 1. Proud of ALL the Caribbean countries. They have the BESTEST DOCTORS!! I love CUBA. Hence, the reason, I'm going on my 2nd trip to there soon. I'm proud of Trinidad and Tobago. The late Prime Minter, The Right Honorable Dr. Eric Eustace Williams said, that the futre of the Nation lies in the bookbag of the students. I'm happy to see Grenada in the top 10 too. Keep up the good work teachers. The only thing is after ALL this education, where are the jobs in some of these countries?
Congratulations to the ten Caribbean countries that managed to make the list and extra proud of my Jamaica. I believe we are one of the most ambitious countries in the world.

Excellent video. Very Informative.
Proud of all the Caribbean Islands mentioned. Especially, my country Barbados 🇧🇧. And also, not to forget the excellent British system that contributed to our education
246 to the world
the British contributed slavery and genocide to Barbados
@@oyaami1874 did you listen to the beginning of the video? British system contributed to high level of education. It is time to move forward and make the World a better place.
Yes it was a system based on the British but it takes the will of the people to educate themselves and to realize it’s importance. As the saying goes you can take a horse to the water but cannot make him drink it. Caribbean people have strong willpower
British system is ranked 10 in he world
As we do so often, Haiti is over-looked likely because of language.
Yes, ALL.
Language is not an issue this time because as you can see cuba is nunber 1 and they speak spanish
Very wise and informed comment, Mx Lewis.
It is unfortunate that the over 2 million educated Haitians in foreign countries are not making a change back in their motherland of Haiti. If Haiti is going to become prosperous and wealthy, educated Haitians, overseas will have to step up and help their develop and recover from it’s impoverished state.

Angella, Jamaica is the foundation of my education and has propelled my other achievements in the US.
I am happy that Cuba us included in this. Proud of her.
This is no surprise to me as a Jamaican-Canadian. The literacy rate and the graduation rate is something I am so proud of but really makes me proud are the incredible contributions we make around the world. It is also why I burst with pride when I hear Mia Motley speak with her strong Bajan accent. We rock!!!
Thats the problem with our education. we educate to service and not be providers, distorted view if you ask me.
Always proud of Cuba and it's educational system. The best in the Caribbean.
I figured Trinidad and Tobago would have been first, but I guess… good content
One correction to your video, pursuant to section 76(1) of the Education Act, Chap. 39:01 of Trinidad and Tobago, compulsory schooling ends at 16 in that country, not at 15 as stated in your video. Maybe you can make that change.
As a Barbados Barbadian. We have the #1 Best well Run country in the World by " "Women's " look it up. For years we have a stable dollar $ 2 for 1 in comparison with the us...our natural beauty and hospitality is also one of the Best. And don't forget Barbados makes one of the Best Beers and Rums. What’s a Barbados Barbadian?
Btw the island just (check out the article) bailed on not paying over $10 billion in debts it borrowed to support its struggling economy… well I guess that was the smart thing to do. 👍🏽
I feel so good to see how well the majority of our Caribbean islands have focused on education and content compete with the rest of the world.. We need to continue with this success and remember to lend a hand to other islands who may need the added help. We can’t be fully successful unless all of our people are successful…
