  • I've had the Teenage Engineering Medieval for five-days now. It has grown on me, in ways, and pissed me off in others. Today I had a tough time using the sampler. I can't find a reason that my sample disappeared. I saw that I moved into another section, while using FX. However, when I returned to the proper section (D.01), the sample no longer triggered, and couldn't be recalled. Thanks for watching!

Lots of operator error trying to play the device. Keep learning how it works and you’ll feel better.

I’d love to see how this works with the mpc one before you get rid of it, maybe there is some fun to be had with midi & audio routing between the two? Definitely auto-sampler those lutes & hurdy gurdys!

I’ll definitely sync them up and give it a go!

You did seem to be mashing a lot of buttons at the same time when the sample went awol!
Woovebox all the way for less money 😉

You can change the volume of an individual sample by pressing sonus then choosing the pad the sample is on and turning the orange knob

TE seems to be jumping the shark in real time with their latest releases and pricing changes... and their QC.

Never owned any of their other gear. But, from what I see online, this seems to be true. This format could be great. I just don’t think they care to bring out its best.

If the Fonz can do it, so can they. 😂

son wu has a good comparison video out for koii vs the medieval, i have the koii and this looks pretty cool/different

I mentioned that video, in my vid after this one. They’re pretty much the same unit. This one is worse in many ways. KO is better suited to actually making music. This is a collectible.

@@dreadwardbernays the big downers for me on the medieval are the display differences, for editing, seeing threshold as you said and also when using the punch in fx (pocus fx) - medieval is definately aimed more that the niche/gimicky end of things
thouggh there are some plus point in there.. some of the pocus fx sound better top left 'temelo' and the always 'on tap' libray is a good idea. i;ve so farkept my factory sound in my koii so also have 32mb or user space so the concept of factory lib and user space is a credible one - though the sound set is niche
if it was either koii or medieval the koii wins overall in my book but having the medieval could be a nice addition to also having a koii though i now have the medieval samples in a folder i'll try out at some point.
keep making vids though i like your honest - real user - approach.

their game is making cheap stuff and selling it as expensive gear... thats why its so heavily aesthetic, its mostly surface stuff... the outer appearance is the main focus

    • @dreadwardbernays

That’s what it seems like. Just a little bit more work, and this could’ve exceeded the “sonic toy” category.

Disagree, at that pricepoint you're hardpressed to find something else that does what it does. The medieval version is just them having a little fun.
For my purposes as a groovebox to supplement my gutiar looping it's pretty much perfect.

KO II is a much better sampler, but I understand the apprehension with the launch issues. I love mine.
You could have added your second kick without nudging notes. Change the time correction to 16 or 32 and re-record it.

I’m planning on swapping this one for a KO 2 now. I’ve gotten used to the flow and can see it being a handy jamming device. Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll try changing the time correction 👊🏾
