Sorry about the pricing, but many thanks for your nice comment. The lens will increase in pricing due to limited availability. It is always good to purchase it at release date, couple of years later you can sell it for much more. But who wants to sell a fantastic limited Leica lens? :) Thats what drives up the Ebay pricing ...
Hi, you were going to come back with some impressions... Please could you do so, with some pictures preferably portraits... I'm thinking of getting a safari version too... Thank you
I respect your ability to just not mind the black leather on green leather ☺️ I'm just too OCD about that, I can't handle it 😂 My weakness! LOVELY LENS! I would be super interested to see a comparison to the Lenny Kravitz version! But I know you are a performance channel, not a fashion channel 😉
Haha, I know that you hate these mixed leather colors :) And basically you are so right. If you continue in this way, I might order the handgrip in green leather just to bring peace to you! :)
Hi Math Photographer, can you share any details from your subscriber about getting the grip customized with green safari leather from leica? (I couldn't find the post you mentioned). I had my local Leica store inquire with Leica headquarters about this very thing and they were told it wasn't possible. I own the safari edition too and want to get the grip covered in the green leather...
Math, Please, can you let me know if your summicron M75 2.0 also has the same "click" experience as this one? My aperture ring it´s too loose, and Leica told me that is normal...???
Do not give up on a loose aperture ring, insist in getting it adjusted/calibrated. Leica can do this, they just need to give in and work on it. I never accept a lens with a loose aperture ring, I need a firm click. We even have in Switzerland services that adjust aperture rings, you don't even have to send it to their headquarter in Wetzlar.
@@mathphotographer thank you very much Math. I was guessing so, that the "normal" is a tight aperture ring, not the opposite. Unfortunately in Portugal, aside of having here the Leica factory and a Leica store, they need to send the lens back to Germany, with the hassle and wasted time to do that. Keep doing your great content. Cheers
I'm completely new to Leica M cameras, and this lens in the standard black anodized finish is the first lens I tried on my camera. I was astonished by how much this lens blocked the viewfinder! Almost 1/3 of the field of view was completely blocked. To me, it is insane to buy such an expensive camera and lens combination and have an awful viewfinder picture like that. So, the 28mm f/2.0 went right back, and instead I purchased the EMARIT-M 28mm f/2.8 which is super compact, and barely blocks the viewfinder at all.
The viewfinder blocking is a known phenomenon on rangefinder cameras. There are various ways to deal with it in terms of accessories. Takes a while to explain so my suggestion would be that you ask the retailer who sold the rangefinder to you to make proposals on how to overcome the problem. For instance, a Visoflex is one solution but there are others too.
U have to change camera bro. Summicrons are very small and compact. If you dont like the small blockage better looks somthing else. U will not try Summilixes :D
Math, beautiful combo... I don’t think Leica did a military green for their vintage iii-models produced in the 30s-40s. I believe they were mostly black, although I have one in collection made in 1941 for the Luftwaffe (German Air Force). It is a beautiful dark midnight blue, very rare an din perfect condition. I am not aware of any other colors, and don’t really see the ‘safari green’ as any type of military throwback at all. And btw, the M10-M IS the BEST Leica rangefinder ever made, just so we’re clear on that...
Always wonder if the handmade 28 mm Summicron will perform better than that slightly faster one on Q models?
The black and silver grip looks great! Nothing wrong there to my eyes.
I love this Safari edition and your video is as always excellent. I would like to purchase such a model with a camera but the prices on Ebay are crazy

@@mathphotographer could you give me a hint when such a camera or lens is available at release? I would love to buy it
In 2001 Leica produced a M6TTL 'Safari' model for the Hong Kong market. There were 300 cameras made for this edition.
Thanks for the hint/comment. Good catch!
leica should make a safari edition hand grip
That setup looks fantastic! Great choice of colors!
I love it, thx :)

@@mathphotographer You do you and don't change for anyone ;)
Wondering if this Summicron lens is better than that Summilux lens on the Q at f/2?
Get a third-party wood handgrip instead. I will look much better.
curious if its a limited edition, why it it not numbered like other limited editions.
Geez it's a collector limited lens, but the outside box was just discarded. :)
Surprised that the lens cap is not in safari colour

Hi Ryan, I can ask at my friends from Leica Switzerland if they can provide some reference.
I can't believe you destroyed the outer box! 😢😆

It would’ve been nice if the grip was in the same color
Yes I know, mea culpa ...
It should be illegal to put that no matching grip on the safari edition. Looks so awful.
Who else had an heart attack when he ripped apart the outer box?
Me!!!! 😂
Killer combo 🎯
i know Im quite randomly asking but does anyone know a good site to watch new movies online ?
@Dallas Heath i watch on flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Dallas Heath lately I have been using flixzone. You can find it by googling :)

There are M1s and M3s labeled with the writing "Bundeseigentum" that have the olive color now called "safari".
In 2001 Leica made 300 M6TTL 'Safari' cameras for the Hong Kong market.
Oh my gosh ... you really have a 1941 Luftwaffe Leica in your possession??? Congrats on that!!!
. Me leicafan
I wish that Leica stop marking M lenses in feet it would look much better.
Indeed a good point, especially since Leica is a German brand and should think in meters/centimeters.
