The three billionaires each represent different business personalities: Scrooge is the hard-working self-made businessman, Glomgold is the unscrupulous businessman who lives on making shady schemes and backroom deals, and Beaks is the lazy trend-chasing quick-cash-fad tech-bro.
Adding a young “Tech-Bro” CEO as a character in this modern reboot was brilliant. Mark Beaks is a brilliant parody of the kind of people who run Google, Facebook, Twitter, Apple, etc.

I agree, Glomgold is one of the funniest cartoon villains ever to me. He's so loud and bombastic, his schemes are ridiculous, and the way he emphasizes certain words is hilarious. Keith Ferguson does such an amazing job. Also, just to clarify at 0:42 Gladstone is Donald's cousin, not his brother.

Glomgold’s VA is Keith Ferguson, who’s very well known for several roles. Three of them are Bloo from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Lord Hater from Wander Over Yonder, and fucking Reaper from Overwatch.
Mark Beaks is the show's biggest attempt to create its own original villain rather than puling from the existing franchise, and he naturally had quite a mixed reception from fans. I think he works incredibly well as a spoof of the most hated kind of person at the exact moment the show was made, who may become horribly dated in the future but it sure hasn't happened yet. He's voiced by Josh Brener, probably best known as Bighead from Silicon Valley, though that connection isn't as strong as you might assume since that character is just a dope hanger-on to the people like Mark.

Even major villains and main characters like Magica, Glomgold, Webby, and Mrs Beakley are wildly different from their original counterparts. Characters change when a show is rebooted, and with Bradford they took some unnamed, faceless characters with surprisingly little screentime or character building for such major antagonists, and reworked them to create an antagonist that worked better for the characters, themes, and story they were working with. He’s still clearly the middle member of High Command, and while he’s very very different, he’s no more different than this more comedic tale on Glomgold, or super ninja spy Beakley. They just had a little less to work with for him.
The VA for Flacon Graves is Robin Atkin Downes who is most known for his voice of the Medic from TF2 but also Luxord in Kingdom Hearts which is one of my favorite games! Hearing his voice always impresses due to his range.
I didn't realize this was the first appearance of the duke but i did realize that even tho he gets less episodes he gets a solo adventure with every girl character so he's still the winner

Also Moscow as a parent myself I actually have my girls watch this with me and they absolutely love it they keep saying that either Donald duck or Scrooge McDuck is definitely my spirit animal because of how much I act in quirk with them
So I dunno if it’s been mentioned but Sam Riegel (Scanlan in Legend of Vox Machina) is the voice director for this show. IMO his sense of humor definitely flavors the delivery and comedic timing across the actors’ performances. Not discounting the actors themselves, it’s just a show full of brilliantly hilarious individuals.

In the show bible it's made pretty clear that they'd also have done a completely unserialised show (there's a LOT of focus on how it's not serialised like Gravity Falls). But tbh I think this is the perfect balance. Lots of episodic fun but also some great overarching stuff to keep people guessing and theorising

For reasons unknown Disney plus has messed up the order of the episodes. I'm glad that Mos is enjoying it despite the rearrangement. But I can't help thinking how much more fun she would be having if it was in its proper order.

Some confusion still exists because they aired on Disney XD out of order (Mainly due to wanting to use the Mt Neverest ep as a xmas-y ep. I think she may have posted out of order, though. She said in this the last ep she watched was house of the lucky Gander.

I love the contrast between Scrooge and Glomgold, in how they approach being Scottish. Scrooge is quietly, comfortably, confidently Scottish; he knows it in his _bones_ and has no need to "affirm" it. Glomgold, on the other hand, has made it a huge part of his identity and his personality, becoming "Scotty McScottishScot, the Scotliest Scot who ever scotted". Probably because in his original comic incarnation he was actually South-African, so he overcompensates.
A rare instance this episode (when he's delivering the letter on the bike) where Flintheart Glomgold slips up and reveals that he's not actually Scottish.

I can't wait till you get to the episode with Scrooge chained to a steamboat by Soapy Slick. Who reads Scrooge's letters from Scotland about his mother which makes Scrooge very very very angry. Afterwards the steamboat collapsed, some people think it was woodworms but that doesn't explain how a classical piano and several of Soapy Slick's were launched into the air.
I can't wait for you to see Scrooge realize that Lena is his long-lost daughter and Aunt Magica is actually the triplets' mother. Wait, Scrooge is also Donald's uncle, isn't he? Which would make him also Dala's. Were the writers aiming for this kind of misdirection?
Whenever I hear Scrooge all I can think of is the 10th/14th Doctor. (More specifically in Season 2 when he has to fake having an accent) Any Who-fans out there?

While the show is exaggerated, I’ve seen firsthand a lot of people who’ve worked super hard get looked over or forgotten. Instead, the (although capable) socially savvy colleagues get ahead with a combination of good working relationships, high visibility tasks/achievements, and a good personality. I tell my introverted friends to not skip all the after work happy hours or activities to have themselves shine. It’s those in between moments than can make or break someone’s career trajectory and work friendships.
That's the critic of this episode which is achieve something through hard work or achieve something by your likes and followers in the social media without doing nothing relevant in your work and is a critic that well describes the real world. Scrooge is the old hard work type billionaire and Beaks is the new social media type billionaire.

Speaking of rival/enemy tycoons of Scrooge McDuck, in the 80s DuckTales and older comics by Don Rosa we had Glomgold. Here we still have him plus Mark Beaks. In the Italian comics there was John D. Rockerduck: think of him as a mix between the former two. His persistent character trait was literally eating his own bowler hat out of rage when losing to Scrooge. And that happened basically all the time. 😂
this episodes reminds me of an episode from the classic 80s Ducktales cartoon where a character named Fenton Crackshell promote a fake product and everyone wanted it, after it became popular he needed to improvise (as an 80s cartoon goes, at first everything was ok but it didn't end well)

The VA for beaks came to my attention around that time. Mostly from this as well as Donatello from Rise of the ninja turtles. Which is an equally great remake as Ducktales, that nobody seems to react to ;)

I personally feel Louie wasn't in this episode because he's probably agree with Mark. While he's not as bad, he's still not the morally best triplet and loves money, but hates work. At least at this point in the series
Mark Beaks is Scrooge's oposite in terms of making fortune in this new era. Scrooge became a billionaire through hard work since he was a child and he always valued the things he achieved. On the other hand, Beaks became a billionaire without nothing relevant and mainly used the Internet and social media to gain likes and followers to convince them buy things from his company that don't exist and the fact that he even hired Falcon Graves to perform a fake robbery to trick her followers in order to keep the money and to receive an insurance for the supposed theft shows off how little Beaks cares for hard work and inventing something himself.
I had watched the whole series and now that I’m rewatching it with Masko, I can say for certain that this character makes me both laugh and annoyed at the same time. Also, I happen to be an ice cold coffee man that loves either vanilla or caramel. But never want it to be as hipster or as high brow as him.
If you think this episode displays glomgold at his best, wait for the episode where he nearly sacrificed himself by riding a jetpack shark into a fake moon intended to crash down into ducksburg.

Might I suggest another indie animated show called “Monkey Wrench” produced by Zeurel. It’s a comedy set in the future where these two space bounty hunter go on wacky adventures where hijinks ensue. I think it’d be right up your alley.
If you miss She-Ra, there is another Magic/ Princesses save the world animated show called ,,Lolirock". If you haven't watched it yet, which is very likely since its been cancelled nearly 6/7 years ago, its very fun with some banger songs and accually pretty deisent visuals. You should give it a watch its only 2 Seasons tho the creators have said they will be working on a potensial Seadon 3 in the coming years. I would love to see anyone react to this show on RUclips beyond episode 1, because its a sin there isn't any reaction of it. David Tennant as the voice of Scrooge McDuck was awesome. But relative to Scots who have played The Doctor, I would really love it, if either Sylvester McCoy, Peter Capaldi, or Ncuti Gatwa had a crack at the character.
Heyaa, I got a suggestion to perhaps watch Monkey Wrench? It's an indie animated show like Helluva and Digital Circus and yet its incredibly underrated. It's a space, adventure show about two mercenaries. It has ,,Earthworm Jim meets Cowboy Bebop" vibes, it's fantastic, highly recommend it
Usually I kind of dislike characters like Dewey. By which I mean the type of characters who are always trying to show off and prove how great they are. But Dewey is surprisingly endearing. I think it's because he rarely tries to put others down in order to prop himself up. Like when Beaks gives him the job he doesn't start rubbing it in hueys face. Instead he's happy about it for a second before almost immediately shifting to concern for his brother.
I really like that Huey is the triplet that's inherited the classic Duck Family Rage. You'd never expect it from someone so composed and orderly. Non-Spoiler Spoiler: Mark Beaks is actually a megalomaniacal mastermind that has an obsession with the DuckTales version of Alexander Hamilton.
Today’s episode of two lies and the truth: 1. Glomgold starts using multiple beards and mustaches that have gimmicks to them. Kind of like the penguin with his umbrellas. 2. Oddly enough, this is the only episode with Mark Beaks in it. Falcon Grays becomes a reoccurring problem. 3. There will be an episode that will show why Glomgold hates Scrooge. And it says silly and ridiculous as you would expect.
Here is a great 'spoiler' for you, if you even remember it by then: A character made a remark in episode 1 that becomes the resolution to the whole show in the very last episode.
Fun fact: They originally wanted to name this character Mark Zuckerbird but were told flat out "No."

I can't wait till you get to the episode with Scrooge chained to a steamboat by Soapy Slick. Who reads Scrooge's letters from Scotland about his mother which makes Scrooge very very very angry. Afterwards the steamboat collapsed, some people think it was woodworms but that doesn't explain how a classical piano and several of Soapy Slick's were launched into the air.

While the show is exaggerated, I’ve seen firsthand a lot of people who’ve worked super hard get looked over or forgotten. Instead, the (although capable) socially savvy colleagues get ahead with a combination of good working relationships, high visibility tasks/achievements, and a good personality.
I tell my introverted friends to not skip all the after work happy hours or activities to have themselves shine. It’s those in between moments than can make or break someone’s career trajectory and work friendships.
That's the critic of this episode which is achieve something through hard work or achieve something by your likes and followers in the social media without doing nothing relevant in your work and is a critic that well describes the real world. Scrooge is the old hard work type billionaire and Beaks is the new social media type billionaire.
Mark Beaks is one of many of this show's great antagonists, but it's really Glomgold that steals the show. He is special.

Speaking of rival/enemy tycoons of Scrooge McDuck, in the 80s DuckTales and older comics by Don Rosa we had Glomgold. Here we still have him plus Mark Beaks. In the Italian comics there was John D. Rockerduck: think of him as a mix between the former two. His persistent character trait was literally eating his own bowler hat out of rage when losing to Scrooge. And that happened basically all the time. 😂

this episodes reminds me of an episode from the classic 80s Ducktales cartoon where a character named Fenton Crackshell promote a fake product and everyone wanted it, after it became popular he needed to improvise (as an 80s cartoon goes, at first everything was ok but it didn't end well)

The VA for beaks came to my attention around that time. Mostly from this as well as Donatello from Rise of the ninja turtles.

I personally feel Louie wasn't in this episode because he's probably agree with Mark. While he's not as bad, he's still not the morally best triplet and loves money, but hates work. At least at this point in the series

Mark is 1 of my favorite villains because to me, he's kinda like an evil version of Donnie from ROTTMNT (1 of my favorite turtles).
Mark Beaks is Scrooge's oposite in terms of making fortune in this new era. Scrooge became a billionaire through hard work since he was a child and he always valued the things he achieved. On the other hand, Beaks became a billionaire without nothing relevant and mainly used the Internet and social media to gain likes and followers to convince them buy things from his company that don't exist and the fact that he even hired Falcon Graves to perform a fake robbery to trick her followers in order to keep the money and to receive an insurance for the supposed theft shows off how little Beaks cares for hard work and inventing something himself.
I had watched the whole series and now that I’m rewatching it with Masko, I can say for certain that this character makes me both laugh and annoyed at the same time.
Also, I happen to be an ice cold coffee man that loves either vanilla or caramel. But never want it to be as hipster or as high brow as him.
If you think this episode displays glomgold at his best, wait for the episode where he nearly sacrificed himself by riding a jetpack shark into a fake moon intended to crash down into ducksburg.

Might I suggest another indie animated show called “Monkey Wrench” produced by Zeurel. It’s a comedy set in the future where these two space bounty hunter go on wacky adventures where hijinks ensue. I think it’d be right up your alley.

If you miss She-Ra, there is another Magic/ Princesses save the world animated show called ,,Lolirock". If you haven't watched it yet, which is very likely since its been cancelled nearly 6/7 years ago, its very fun with some banger songs and accually pretty deisent visuals. You should give it a watch its only 2 Seasons tho the creators have said they will be working on a potensial Seadon 3 in the coming years. I would love to see anyone react to this show on RUclips beyond episode 1, because its a sin there isn't any reaction of it. Amazing reaction btw❤

David Tennant as the voice of Scrooge McDuck was awesome. But relative to Scots who have played The Doctor, I would really love it, if either Sylvester McCoy, Peter Capaldi, or Ncuti Gatwa had a crack at the character.

Heyaa, I got a suggestion to perhaps watch Monkey Wrench? It's an indie animated show like Helluva and Digital Circus and yet its incredibly underrated. It's a space, adventure show about two mercenaries. It has ,,Earthworm Jim meets Cowboy Bebop" vibes, it's fantastic, highly recommend it
Dewy’s right you should watch out for the Duke, like seriously watch out for the Duke that dude is bad news.
Usually I kind of dislike characters like Dewey. By which I mean the type of characters who are always trying to show off and prove how great they are. But Dewey is surprisingly endearing. I think it's because he rarely tries to put others down in order to prop himself up. Like when Beaks gives him the job he doesn't start rubbing it in hueys face. Instead he's happy about it for a second before almost immediately shifting to concern for his brother.
I agree. I like how at first he's like, "Yay, I'm vice president!", and then "Oh crap, I never should have come.".
I really like that Huey is the triplet that's inherited the classic Duck Family Rage. You'd never expect it from someone so composed and orderly.
