I remember listening to this song for the first time and thinking about the Swiss guard, I pause the video and did my reception and sure enough it was soon after I was listening to the other masterpieces.
I've waited almost a whole year to say that this was first Sabaton song that I ever heard, followed by Winged Hussars, Carolus Rex, Sparta, Lost Battalion, and Manowar (which introduced me to that band as well). For the story behind how I came across Last Stand.... It was Warhammer 40k that introduced me to Sabaton. But aside from that, a few years ago, I was looking up WH40K inspired music videos; one of which was about the Horus Heresy and the song being played was none other than Sabaton's Last Stand. So, yeah, I gotta thank an old friend who introduced me to WH40K that introduced me to Sabaton, which in turn has returned me back to fold of that is Metal.
I am Swiss myself and The Last Stand was the first Sabaton Song i ever heard and since then I absolutly Love Sabaton. Sadly the Story of the Sack of Rome is nearly unmentioned in Swiss schools, so i realy aprechiate how Famous this Song (thanks to the Memes) has become. And if you are looking for some crazy against all ods Battles and Last Stands, the Swiss got Tonnes of it. Morgarten, Sempach, Murten, Bourgandian Wars, Maringano, Storm of the Tuilleriens during the French Revolution, Battle at the Beresina during Napoleons retreat Form Russia, and more.
Caspar Röist, who was the commander at the time of the last stand, died during the battle, was Born in Zurich. When Sabaton played The Last Stand at their Show back in February in Zurich.. THAT was Special! Thank you for that!
A suggestion for the anniversery: Have fans submit subjects (battles, wars, historical figures, etc. anything that is somewhat in line with what Sabaton have made so far), and have Indy shortly sum up the interesting parts of the submitted subject, and then have the band discuss if there is a Sabaton song hidden in that particular story. Of course big bonus if the band can come up with the spark of a song on the spot (small piece of lyrics, a guitar riff that fits, or anything else) I know this could be very tough and time consuming to do, but I think it would be fun to watch, and might shine a bit of extra light on the creative process of Sabaton.
This is a true Sabaton song: -Talks about war -Guitars and synths on the riff -Key change in the last chorus -Singable chorus -Harmony solos Could we ever ask for more? (Perhaps an "oh-oh" section?)
80 % of a people dead in a city dead... Damn... And please release a bloopers video! A Sabaton meme is what got me into this band in the first place. Over two years ago i saw a Webm of a corgi jumping through a lot of snow while playing "INTO THE MOTHERLAND THE GERMAN ARMY MARCH". Then I saw in the comments of that video people praising the band and they sent links to this song "last Stand" and "Night Witches" and i have since then fallen in love with this band.
Jag älskar den här låten, det är en av Sabaton s Firsts jag har hört och det är fortfarande en av mina favoriter (I tried Swedish, tell me if there's Something wrong ^^)
Can't watch yet, I am in a train on my way back home from the Cruise and Germany is famous for its slow internet 😂 Still, none of my videos (well, maybe Winged Hussars) had more racist comments than the one about the Swiss Guard's last stand. I really hope it will be different here.
At least your videos are just lyrics (great ones too thank you) but the only comments I can imagine have it worst was Knight SGC’s music video, which you guessed it, is a about the crusades
Few things are greater than listening to this while going through a Vatican Tour (oh and seeing the Swiss Guard marching on Swiss National day) true story
Its so weird that of all the things that got me into Sabaton it WAS the crusade memes with this song, random videos with knights, For Honor meme videos with this song playing as the unofficial anthem of the Knight faction. I have to say ive entirely fallen in love with this bands music and this channel. History was always my favorite subject so these songs always interested me so much and learning more about each of them is amazing to me and I really do hope it continues!

Wait... I just noticed Indy's mug in the beginning of the episode! Is he drinking out of a meme of himself?
Nice catch!
Hands up if you want that mug! ✋ Seriously you guys need to sell that. I'll buy ten!
I hereby demand we have a 1 hour or longer blooper reel for the one year anniversary

JK. Everyone: *THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVE*
Honest question: When the Winged Hussars arrive?
A winged hussar is never early, nor is he late, he arrives exactly at the last climactic moment when Vienna needs him most
@@Arbiter099 Not in 1529, two years after the sack of Rome.
In 1683, 156 years later
We remember, in September.
I have been so looking forward for this also I liked how the templar joke at first was about how many confuse and asociate this song with crusades.
Caspar Röist, who was the commander at the time of the last stand, died during the battle, was Born in Zurich. When Sabaton played The Last Stand at their Show back in February in Zurich.. THAT was Special! Thank you for that!
I'll take this message to the guys!

Of course big bonus if the band can come up with the spark of a song on the spot (small piece of lyrics, a guitar riff that fits, or anything else)
I know this could be very tough and time consuming to do, but I think it would be fun to watch, and might shine a bit of extra light on the creative process of Sabaton.
This is a true Sabaton song:
-Talks about war
-Guitars and synths on the riff
-Key change in the last chorus
-Singable chorus
-Harmony solos
Could we ever ask for more?
(Perhaps an "oh-oh" section?)
Vinicius Saito But the song isn’t about tanks
@@JojokimVT shit das true ;-;,... but its about medieval times so... that a win? :D
And if we are talking tanks, we have Panzerkampf uwu

oh boy, what a good song, good memes and good episode! thank you guys!
You're welcome!
Swiss guards: "FOR THE POPE!!!"
Imperials:"FOR OUR PAY!!!!!!"
The Last Stand is essentially just D&D Paladins in music form.
I honestly thought "the last stand " was about the third crusade. The real story is more honorable.
80 % of a people dead in a city dead... Damn...
And please release a bloopers video! My year's been hell so, whenever I see the number of the episode, I get frustrated (8 more weeks and it's been a year of this awesome channel!).
And, as always, keep up the great work, folks! From the other side of the line, we're thankful!!

AMEN BROTHER
This is just perfect! I visited Rome for the weekend and was listening to this song while waiting in line to tour Vatican City. After that I visited Castel Saint'Angelo too. I love The Last Stand. Sabaton and Time Ghost is the best collaboration ever. Love you guys, thanks for the videos!
Thanks!
This was the first song heard from Sabaton. Now I have the song memorized.
Jag älskar den här låten, det är en av Sabaton s Firsts jag har hört och det är fortfarande en av mina favoriter (I tried Swedish, tell me if there's Something wrong ^^)
Can't watch yet, I am in a train on my way back home from the Cruise and Germany is famous for its slow internet 😂
Still, none of my videos (well, maybe Winged Hussars) had more racist comments than the one about the Swiss Guard's last stand. I really hope it will be different here.
Ja !!! The german Internet...🙄😇
Liebe grüsse Alex🤘
Gegen Rassismus !!!
We all stand together 🤘
At least your videos are just lyrics (great ones too thank you) but the only comments I can imagine have it worst was Knight SGC’s music video, which you guessed it, is a about the crusades
Danny Medina “the worst”
The worst in what?
Piscator There was no racist comments.
You deleted comments you got butthurt about.
Oh Piscator, you know that's just not possible.
0:25 did anyone else catch that? Par just officially confirmed that Sabaton will be leading the next crusade!
Sabaton History always makes me happy.
....and the the Winged Hussars arrived!
This is one of my favorite songs, and this was uploaded on my birthday.
Thanks for the present everyone!
Congrats! I hope you had a great day!
Few things are greater than listening to this while going through a Vatican Tour (oh and seeing the Swiss Guard marching on Swiss National day) true story
My brain must really love the Last Stand and Crusaders, because I think I can hear the song jamming away whilst they are talking in silence lol 😂😂😂
We can think of far worse earworms than those two 😎
Thanks! I always wanted to know the story behind this song, but I was too lazy to look it up myself.
Well, now you have it! Enjoy
I love how with each consecutive episode the second half of the video just gets more and more off topic.
40:00 I can't hear this tune without thinking of the Metatron
The song that plays in the background from 0:37 to 0:57 is Knights Templar 1 - Johannes Bornlöf
The opening absolutely killed me! I love it! Ah, when Sabaton references memes about them it only makes things better!
Are we surprised though? They have always embraced the Swedish Pagans, Winged Hussars, and Noch Ein Beer memes.
Your content is amazing, I'm enjoing in EVERY video you make!
God bless Indy and Sabaton!
Thanks a bunch! Awesome that you like it!
A friend from work had been trying to get me to listen to Sabaton for a while now and man, I'm really impressed by the quality of the vocal sound, and riffs.
I love how Indy tells the story like he'd been there himself
Not just honor guard but his holy fathers personal bodyguard even in foreign visits.
