I need your help. I had a 2015 Ford Explorer XLT about two weeks ago, I've been having a car issue with my car won't start but will crank up for a long time. Now before this got started, my dashboard on the touch screen popped up saying saving mode and I had to turn my car off and then restart my car but won't start. I tried to turn it over to get it started my fuel gauge gave me different mile numbers for example my current miles are 60 miles left but started to give me 80 miles which is not accurate. I thought maybe it could be the battery or the alternator. It's not. So I got my fiance to come by my workplace to jump-start my car for me, and he started my car for the first time and it started back up again then it messed with my fuel gauge giving me 100 miles instead of the current miles I have in my car. It's weird. Now when my gas gets very low nothing pops up on my screen and says Fuel is low every time my gas is low to 30 miles every time it pops up, but it hasn't popped anymore since the whole car won't start. I took it to the mechanic guy and he couldn't figure it out, but he guessed it could be the gas pump that needed to be replaced. Now I don't want to get fuck and screw because I need your opinion on it. many mechanics can tell me something different. I have a warranty for this vehicle and can't take it to the Ford dealership until June 14th. What's your thought? As of right now my vehicle is fine running pretty good crank and starts pretty well but the gas indicator signal hasn't shown it anymore since the whole issue two weeks ago.

Mine stopped working in my 18 year old car within the last week. My fuel pump went out about a month and a half ago and I bought an emergency $50 pump from Amazon to get it off the street it died on. In the last two weeks the needle started taking forever to rise after filling up, two days ago, it started dropping to empty with a half tank. I filled to full yesterday and now the needle is showing empty. The cluster self test has all my needles working just fine. At this point, I'm assuming the float sensor is bad. I have the old pump still, it's the same one I replaced it with, I know I had no problems with the float on that one, I'm planning on swapping it with the old one when the tank empties about half way.

I watched your video for a bit to get an idea what is involved to fix my fuel gauge. I have a2016 Chev Sonic. I got it brand new. I don't know who to take my car to without getting ripped off. I'm a senior (age 72). when I filled my tank on 10/11 I thought I heard a slight sound when I removed the gas pump. Any suggestions? I live in Las Vegas.

When you filled up, did you stop when the gas pump first clicked off? It's better to stop there instead of adding more and overfilling. We all tend to wanna round to nearest dollar or keep adding until gas seeps out, but this is one cause of the type of problem you are having. Does that vehicle have access to fuel tank under the back seat or anywhere in the general area?

@@lancejones7669 I aways turn off the car before using the pump. I don't overfill. I have no idea if there is access to the tank under the back seat. That would have to be a question for a mechanic to answer. All I can tell you is that it's a 2016 Chev Sonic and not the turbo model. P.S. Thank you so much for responding to my inquiry so quickly 😄

@leehuddy6061 no problem, I just happen to see your comment on a video and thought I would try to help you get it figured out. The owners manual probably has that info, but I will try to look it up online for you as soon as I get time

@@lancejones7669 Oh, I checked the manual and it gives absolutely NO info on this issue. I found that so wierd.

@leehuddy6061 I have a Chevy Equinox that is like that, that vehicle almost made me hate GM, but I have a GMC Sierra that is so simple to work on and fix, seems like they out more thought into the trucks, but almost just throw the cars and suvs together. But that's just my opinion going off GM vehicles that I currently own

My 2007 Tacoma fuel gauge won't drop pass the one quarter mark. I have to refill when it drops to the one quarter mark. Definitely marks up full when i fill up, but cant tell how much fuel i have left once it reaches the one quarter mark.

I’m gonna assume your float is getting stuck so it’s probably a little rusty really all you gotta do is wipe of the float rail
