Something tells me this lady got a middle management job right after college and has never taken a call in her life. Sounds like managers I've had. Customers are so sweet and amazing until they have to take a call. Then they go into panic attack mode and their whole world breaks down.

That’s possible, but she probably got a entry-level manager or corporate recruiter job. Sure she might have did some side-by-sides to learn what everyone does, but any significant time on the phones doubtful.

You are so on point Pete. My mother passed away September 23rd 2020. I had my worst performing month for October 2020. Management waited until October 31st to advise me to either go on leave or face termination. Zero empathy for what I was going through. There was no condolence card or flower at the funeral. The only thing I got was a hard time about my poor October numbers. Call center reps are a dime a dozen that are treated like shit.

I still work in a BPO industry or a call center company but I swear I'll never get back answering calls. I worked for AT&T and my gosh it's the most difficult job I ever had. Lack of sleep, too much stress, pressure from your customers, pressure from your bosses or smes. Literally the worst job of my lifetime. I'm so thankful working in a non-voice account right now. Plus I work from home. I have more time with my family, I can do my hobbies, etc. So glad I found this job.

PT. Almost three years ago I was in a call center and felt all the emotions your videos describe. I was extremely depressed and thought that the drive I had to help people was gone.
Today I help manage a small Arizona based shed company and am the person in charge of how we handle customers. I am able to apply all the things call centers did to make those conversations feel dry and robotic and completely flip them and speak genuinely to our customers (I remember specific names for sometimes months!). Thank you for justifying my feelings when I was in that spot in life. I attribute some of my current place in life to you.

I worked in them before and never again. I have had my Life threatened by angry customers and was Only allowed two ten minute breaks a day. and that was the ONLY time you could use the restroom. When that time of the month came it was extra hard because you couldn't take care of it properly. Or some people having to hold their bladder or bowels so much they would have accidents on a call. I was in a back to back call job and when a call hung up you get 15 seconds to disposition and 2 Minutes to leave a detailed note in two different places as well as send a detailed email to the individuals that were assigned to handle there accounts... as well as fill out all the boxes before you even write anything and another call comes in sometimes lasting one hour. We were told customers couldn't get in touch with supervisors, we had to be the resolve. It was absolutely Horrible. And yet if they demanded a supervisor someone else would get on the call a little higher than you and rarely a supervisor. Its all about money and agents must be like robots or they are fired. This was my experience and it caused me so bad of anxiety from it and the worst part was some of the customers threatening your life and getting that violent. Leaving to take that call with no sup to help, that should not even be legal. That messes with your head and they don't care and they knew it happened because I asked for help. 'Your doing fine, breath...Sometimes people need to vent...' that's the responses. venting and yelling are one thing threats and violence a whole other ballgame. People quit and get fired so much they are always hiring. They don't care because the wheels keep turning for them someone quits or gets fired another takes there place. Yet when they hire you they want compassion and you to have saintly qualities when all they care about is efficiency and their pockets being filled. Your channel hits the nail on the head on what call centers are like. I hope more people watch you and try to stay clear so they can protect their sanity!

All things considered I was pretty fortunate at most of my call centre jobs because most my Supervisors were cool and the reps who worked there were cool too. When it came to some of the customers behavior I had to laugh after while. I remember some of the joking going on about irate customers that were made between calls, "Did that make you feel better, Mr. Customer?" one of the reps joked. He had me laughing. One of my other co-workers was chatting with me between calls about something unrelated to customers about how if different countries were people she would name them off: if Canada was a person it would be Steve Urkel, if it was the USA it would be a man who was big and dumb. She had me laughing so hard it was difficult to control myself when I got calls. I had to mute the phone in case I laughed out loud while the customer was talking and I still had to be able to concentrate on what the customer was saying.
