Been waiting for your video on this! Thanks so much!
Can’t believe this is the first settings video I have seen for the newer ronins. Been waiting. Thanks.
Highly appreciate these very detailed tutorials. These can help non-techie guys produce better quality videos without too much frustration and fuss. Two thumbs up!
You consistently have the best, most accurate, no nonsense content anywhere on the whole internet, and it's not even close. Thanks for all that you do!
Thank you so much for this! I was about to return my RS2 after a week of not being able to stabilize my footage. Now it works PERFECTLY!
I cant tell you how much I appreciate this video. There are a lot of videos trying to explain certain options for the RS2 and this one is by far the best. Thank you and Cheers.
Thank you so much for making this Matt! I had an old Zhiyun crane die on the morning of a wedding and sent my second to buy the RS2 last minute during bridal prep. I was literally watching your video at the ceremony location to quickly figure out how to turn the speed of the motors down to actually get useable shots. Thanks for making a very clear and quick video for that and sharing your settings. Life saver.
That's so great to hear!
After hours of googling. I knew there a had to be someone who finally made a video on this. Thank you for this! Going to give the settings a try!
Thanks man for sharing that man. U are really out there trying to help ppl by being professional, precise, fast and to the point. No extra no cap. Really appreciate it
I was waiting for your video on the new RS2! You never disappoint with these!
I've been a Ronin-S shooter since it was released. I just picked up the RSC2 (gotta love the weight reduction!). Thanks for the help with the settings!
such epic settings you saved my life! thank you
Well that was top tier useful. I usually ignore companion apps and was just bumbling along on stock settings. This was very helpful in establishing a baseline to play with. Muchos gracias.
You deserve more subs man. My rsc2 comes in tomorrow and this is gonna be a huge help 🙏🏼
This literally helped me minutes before my gig! Thank you so much
Thanks so much for making this video!! Really appreciate it 🥰 It was super helpful!
Wow huge thanks to this great video, very instructive, just got my RS2 yesterday
Thank you so much for sharing these valuable tips!
Happy New Year and 🎉Thanks for your helping 👏👏👏
Haven't tried it yet. But seems like the best video out there for beginners like me to set it up. Thank you
very well presented with no drama
Thanks for the Tutorial. Saved it for the setup later, when I buy it in may. 😊👍🏽 Exited to see the results.
Thank you, Mate! Very helpful!
Amazing video! So glad you shared this!
Game changer
really love the settings, thanks for sharing !
Thanks for this. Really helpful.
Thanks . Amazingly helpful.
Thanks Matt! I should have watched this sooner! It was was too sensitive out of the box!
Thanks for this awesome video, it really helps me get started with my RS2. I would also love a complete walkthrough on getting started with this gimball ...you have a new sub ;)
Great tips Matt, especially the screenshots saving of the settings so they are readily available. I actually do the same but with my gear bag so like that if my assistant is the one putting things away he has the exact set up on how to put everything back in the right place and I don’t have to scramble to find any gear on the next shoot
great idea. Life is so much easier when you offload your brain to a screenshot.
Great Video! Helped me a lot, thx!
So, so helpful!! Thank you 🙏
these shots look fantastic
This came in clutch!
This video helped out a lot. Kudos
Super helpful video. Thank you!
Thanks. Very helpful
Thanks for the video
Cheers mate - great help with my RS2. Also a screenshot saver!
Thanks so much for these settings! Extremely helpful! Definitely subbing ;)
Thank You Perfect video
Thank you for this Tutorial.
Strong work Matt. First time out of the box with factory or what ever the settings were ruff results. Night and Day difference once I applied your suggestions. I plan on using this system a lot Sony A7 w/4K 16-35mm zoom and Raven Eye for tracking and transmitting.
Thank you for this!!!!
can't thank you enough:). truly the default settings were terrible and this video helped a lot
Thank you
i love it !!! Very nice vidéo :)
thanks for this tips!
Thanks for this. I have a killer pointer. Check out the New Plate from Really Right Stuff for this. It allows you to use a standard arcaswiss plate or a RRS L Bracket with the gimbal so you do not have to switch between plates. Additionally the new rail will also fit in a manfrotto head so you can switch between the gimbal and a manfrotto fluid head.
Great review.
Thank you so much!!
so freakin' helpful you don't even know. appreciate this so much!
Thank you!
Great video. Thank you :)
Great video.
Hugely underrated video - well done and thanks. Now if only I could find out why my joystick isn’t responding lol...
Joystick to quickly accent movement. Incredible. Whip pans are almost impossible on the gimble, but that makes it more possible! Especially by reversing the joystick direction
thank you !
Thanks man amazing video, you should do a skillshare course
Epic. Saved me some frustration
legend
You are the best
Thanks.
You have no idea how you are going to help me after I struggled to stabilise my footages.
This is amazing. I’ve been waiting for a wedding wedding filmmaker to share RS2 settings and haven’t been able to find anything online. Would you be able to share you screenshots for your Mode 1,2,3 settings? Thanks for this 😀
Nice! Any specific notes about using the C70 with the RS2? I'm going to fly them both on a Tilta Float.
Thank you very much for this video and for all the suggestions. I have just purchased RSC2 model
and I would like to know if it is possible to reverse the joystick movement. As standard I should move
joystick upwards in order to move the camera upward. I would like to revers it and have the camera point downwards
when moving the joystick upwards (As required by radio controlled airplane models ).
Thanks a lot and best wishes from Italy 🇮🇹
I find the pan to be very jerky in briefcase mode using these settings. But thanks for the tips I’ll keep tweaking
Can you please go through what hardware you have on the gimbal regarding quick release? Great video!
Yea man, its this - amzn.to/3hzANtz
I have these things on everything, even below my fluid head on a tripod so I can pop on a slider faster. -Matt
Amazing video this helps out a ton! Is there any way to turn off the tilt when using the joystick? I just want to pan with the joystick. If I try to pan and accidentally press up on the joystick just a little it goes up.
Oh I'm not sure if you can turn off the tilt, you could set it to the least sensitive settings though.
Thanks for the very informative tips, just want to ask if this settings will work on all camera sizes and lens including point and shoot, thank you
It will work on a range of camera sizes as long as you auto-tune the setup. The auto-tune adjusts the motor strength to match your camera setup's weight, and then the settings I give her dial in the responsiveness of the gimbal to your movement.
Hi do you know of the light on the handle when charging, after charging does the light goes off once charge completely?
Nice video, thanks for making that!
Oh and how tall is that guitarist and how does he keep up in life with legs that short!?!
haha he's like 6'6 or something.
Hello there
I hope you are doing great, I just want to ask> I have the Canon 6d ii with 50mm 1.8 do you think it will balance well in the ronin RS2?
Good job and Thanks for tutorial. One question, witch lense did you use on gimbal, for this video. Thanks for all.
mostly 35mm 1.4 L II for the music video, and a little 24-105mm f/4
Just watched your outstanding video in the proper settings for the DJI rsc2 gimbal which I recently purchased. I am using this gimbal with a Canon R5 and the RF 24-105 mm L lens, which is, I believe, the same setup that you used for some of the clips in your video. I have been experimenting with the Active Track feature using the Raveneye. I have found this feature to work very well at 50 mm or lower, but when I zoom the lens to 105 mm, Active Track does not work with the gimbal going into oscillation and losing the target when the subject gets close to the camera. Have you experienced this and if, so, do you have any suggestions? Thank you, for reading and for the very fine tutorial video.
on ur phone screen when in raven eye/active track mode , on the bottom left there is an option to adjust tracking follow speed... I believe the rule of thumb is the lower your focal length is, you should increase the tracking speed and vice versa... high focal length, slow tracking speed.
I had the same issues you mentioned and saw that tip on a tutorial and it eliminated the issue.
You mentioned leaving the 'Roll axis disabled'. What were you referring to? Did you turn the roll motor off in Motor Parameters? I am a bit confused by your comment as you don't show this part in the video. I am new to the RSC2 so this video has proven excellent help. Thanks.
you can turn of the roll axis in the app. It basically means the horizon will always be level and won't tilt on you.
Great video! What monitor do you use?
This was a smallHD 501 - I use a 701 bright as well but it's pretty big.
My active tracking with raveneye bugs out and will not stay locked on someone, i think its mostly with my 18-105 lens when zoomed in.... any ideas why this would be? Thanks so much for this video.
Can we customise the trigger button to any follow mode we like?
hi, I have one question .. Is it necessary to have the stabilization on the camera when using the gimbal?
I like your videos and I even bought LUTs on M2P. continues to do a good job;)
sometimes the internal stabilization can help, sometimes it hurts. You just need to test, but it's not necessary to use it.
Any ideas for just pan follow mode? Still figuring out this thang
Can I use this with pan follow mode and fpv?
I know you said these are settings for most cameras and saw you were using DSLR, would it be any different for cinema size setups? I’m running a FS5 and my RS2 comes in on Monday. Btw Love yalls channel thanks for the tips and inspiration!
Hey Rhett, these should work with any size camera. The reason is that the auto-tune function adjusts the motor strength settings to offset the extra weight of a larger camera. The smooth track settings in this video set how responsive the gimbal is to your movement.
Hoped hat makes sense. -Matt
@@thefilmpoets awesome, thank y’all! Y’all are the best.
The Film poets thanks for the tips and setting guide for both the Ronin gimbal's. Could you elaborate the numbers in the parameters while we are setting for custom. Does the auto tune help in adjusting the numbers while we swap other lenses on the gimbal. Thank you The Film Poets.
Auto tune adjusts the motor strength, don’t change those. These are the smoothrack settings that affect how’s the camera pans and tilts in response to you movement.
Thank you The Film Poets.
Just picked up the RS2 yesterday and in the app where do you find the deadband settings?
Question! Using the RSC2 with the EOS R6 connected with usb cable, is there any chance that you can control the servo/continues AF through the gimbal? I want to have servo autofocus but at moments to pull focus with focus peaking identically through the gimbal. Is that possible some way?
What camera did you shoot that concert with? Looks amazing.
That was the R5
Sick, do you have super smooth on? Would you recommend it on, for heavier setups? Our setup is quite heavy (BMPCC6K pro) and there are some annoying shakes still… Coming from the roll axis I guess…
I don't use super smooth very much, but it's designed for long lenses, not heavy setups.
great video!!! I'd like to know what's your roll settings?
I turn the roll off. Personally I like the horizon to be always be flat.
@@thefilmpoets thanks!
Hi thanks for this greats settings.. This is my first DJI gimbal and i have a question?? Is there a mode i you only want to use the joystick???
to do that you just disable follow mode. Also if you hold the trigger down it locks the gimbal from moving but I'm not sure if you can use the joystick while doing that.
@@thefilmpoets thanks 😉
Hey man Great video but how do I get it to lock ? As even when I hold the button the pan still moves ? Where when I see the weebill it is just a easy button on to lock mode
There's a setting (I think) for adjusting what holding the tigger does, to lock or only pan follow.
Boss you're a star, this setting works excellent when my son use the RS2, no stabilization in post nothing, but whereas I use it, i can see all the movement. Can you please explain which of the setting i can input for me to make it as smooth
If the exact same setup looks smooth with your son but not when you use it, it has to do with the way you're walking and holding the gimbal. It's almost a lost art now since so many people have never used a steadicam or glidecam.
You'll need to practice walking with more gentleness from your legs as you would if you had a full glass of water held out in front of you. Studying steadicam operating tips and applying them to these gimbals can help a lot as well.
@@thefilmpoets thanks for the tips, I had gimble for some years now, I must say honestly I never mastered the art. Will keep your advise of having a cup of water whilst using it next time
@@KozKreoleKwenKomedi yea. Knees bent slightly, walk softly, never side to side. The Steadicam operators manual is a resource that can help as well - amzn.to/3iSMrRc
I am trying to do smooth pans and tilts with the joystick, while the gimbal is on a flat surface or tripod and nobody touches it. Imagine a tilt to show a tree, or a pan to show water flowing in a creek. I can actually see the steps the step motors take, even though i m using the joystick on the app and the gimbal is tuned and balanced great (app says exceptional). I really cant find a solution to smooth pan and tilt and i begin to regret the purchase of the SC2 for my A7R4. Lowering the strength of the motors helps, but then you have to re autotune if you want to do anything else. Any advice on that? I hate that i still have to use my fluid head for pans and tilts even though I ve invested in a piece of technology that should be able to do smooth controlled movements.
I'm not sure if you've figured this out yet, but I just got my gimbal today and I had the same issue at first. You have to do the "Auto Tune" feature. I think it's because this gimbal's motors by default are quite powerful for our lighter cameras
Hi mate, Can i do it with the Pan only.
Can u pls make more video in detail about rsc2 settings.. like M1..M2..M3.. PF..FPV..PTF modes.. n how this gimbal works .. Thanks..
It's pretty simple. The M1-M3 settings are just mode presets. You can set them to do whatever you like, and then flip between them quickly. I don't do this though. I stay on M1.
PF means the pan follows your movement. PTF means the pan and tilt follows your movement. You'll almost always want PTF, and if you need to disable PTF just hold the trigger while you walk to lock it so it doesn't follow at all.
Hope that helps make sense of things. -Matt
@@thefilmpoets thanks a lot for replying.. I want joystick slow.. I changed in gimbal too slow.. but still feeling it's not so slow that I want..
N how many types gimbal go.. like example.. briefcase mode. What r correct way too position change in different different moments. Thanks.
Do you do anything with the Strength or Stiffness settings under the motor parameters ? I found raising strength decreases "lag" significantly if you want it very responsive for sport mode, but if you raise strength you have to make sure stiffness is high enough or there will be problems lol
I just let auto-tune take care of those settings. As you've noticed, the settings interact with other settings and can start to drive you crazy! -Matt
Great video Matt - what shotgun mic & preamp are you using for this video? Audio capture is crispy and smooth... -AW
Thanks Adam. I switch from my old NTG2 to the Audio-Technica AT4053b - it sounds wonderful for indoor interviews. And then the sound is processed with SoundGrades - www.soundgrades.io

I don't know why my Fujifilm xt4 records footage in slow motion when connected to the gimbal? Any idea what am I doing wrong?
did you have filter when filming?
Very good. I have a question, how can I lock the pan axis? Thanks
To temporarily lock the pan and tilt hold the front trigger down.
@@thefilmpoets Hi,thanks for advice. I tried but when I want do the orbit movement,I cannot block the pan axis 🤦🏻♂️.
