She is a wonderful, giving, forgiving positive person. I watched the movie and it was very well portrayed by Thora Birch. It is beautiful that Liz knows her parents loved her which is the most important ingredient in having resilience (maybe - I haven't walked in Liz's shoes) but she didn't have emotional or physical support and knew she needed that. Many children/teenagers get the food and creature comforts but not the love and time. Liz remembered having fun sliding with her mum and the cuddles and the advice from her dad which is what kept her going in spite of all the hurdles she had to jump and bullying she was facing daily. That watershed moment in which she saw herself never progressing in life and decided to do something right then was brilliant - she didn't expect anything to be handed to her; she knew she had to persist and work hard. She has such warmth and compassion and I love it that she said that people should not use the excuse of a bad childhood for their bad adult behaviour. Wonderful human being.

A couple of questions, else the questions might be answered when I read 'Breaking Night'. Three defining moments in Liz's life, the death of her mother, Eva and Humanities Preparatory Academy!
1/ Was Eva at the New York Times when Liz was awarded her scholarship?
    2/ What's happened to Liz's sister?

I think the book you reference is this one: "Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard." It chronicles her experiences as a child of drug addicted parents. The book includes numerous stories from her childhood.

:) When the interviewer it's sitting in such a defensive attitude, one of her leg held as a shield in front of her, you know that's all it's a fake, all of it it's unnatural, watching this it will be just an utter waste of time.

I don't think so; Liz is amazing. She cannot help it that the interviewer is bad. She still spoke the truth. Have you read her biography - seen the movie - read anything else about her? Liz did the talking anyway. the interviewer may have been inexperienced.
