Thank you for this recipe. I've been enjoying Ethiopian food from restaurants in Nairobi... then visited Moyale and walked across the border for the most delicious meal ever 😋 loved it. Loved this recipe, I'll cook it tomorrow and hope it can even come half as good.
Folks need to understand a lot of us growing up with our parents or grandparents teaching us this, we aren’t given recipes. It’s based on visual and taste.
Thank you so much for making an English version!!!! Ethiopian food is my absolute favorite but after my favorite restaurant closed I haven’t found one close enough to me. I was nervous to not have measurements at first but realized it was pretty easy to follow. It turned out delicious!! Can’t wait to try more
A cheating step I did was add garlic ginger red and yellow onions in the food processor to make a paste cook it for a bit then add my oil It saves a lot of time on the onions
This looks like the best version of key wat I have seen yet online and it's got me so excited to try and make it! Would you happen to have the ingredient amounts? Thanks for the great video 🙏
This looks so delicious! Could you share the measurements of ingredients and the cut of beef that you're using? Also what kind of blended garlic/ginger do you use? Thank you!!!
As someone said below, there really is no recipe, you just have to eyeball it. I have a standard Le Creuset Dutch oven and I would fill it about half full of diced onions and maybe about 2lbs of chuck roast.
This looks sublime! I've always wanted to make key wot. I checked but I couldn't find the measurements in the description box. Would it be possible to share? 🙏 Thank you so much 😊
Spiced butter? Wow. I never heard of it. Where can I find? Looks amazing Thanks for sharing this dish with the world. I'm so interested to learn about food from all countries.
Please tell me what kind of vegetable oil you used? And also what kind of oil did Ethiopia use before there was vegetable oil? Did they use lard or tallow
Amazing recipe! Since there was no exact measurements, I improvised. Is there any way we could see the ingredient list and measurements in the description box?
Is it possible to get the measurements or recipe? I usually am a cook that adds based on the eye, but trying something out of my comfort zone, I like to get general recipe to follow. Thank you!
I like your video each step very detailed. I appreciate that. What I didn't know was that you could add the beef just raw like that in cubes everywhere else I saw them Browning it. Can't wait to try. I had this once in Ethiopian restaurant ( didn't like it 😕 ) think because it was cold. barely warm. Also thought it would be spicy ...it wasn't. Still going to give this a try. Looks exactly like what I had. ? ..if you don't have spiced butter what can you use ; also how long did you cook stew for. Could I make in slow cooker?? Sorry I know that's a lot of questions but this will be my first time making it. Thank you
U can’t slow cook it as the onions have to fry and brown to caramelize. That sweetness of the onions is what makes the dish spectacular, can’t take short cuts on that step. It’s stirring every 2-3 minutes for a hour with the onions as a must.
@@Jiulize let me clarify. Doro wot, siga wot, and many other dishes have 1 thing in common, the preparation and seasoning. The prep and cook of the onions along with berbere is the dish. You throw protein in after, any kind. Berbere isn't spicy hot, it spicy aromatic. Don't be shy it takes more than you would think with the long cook time. One of my favorite dishes to introduce people to West African cuisine as it is amazing.

It's ghee but we add our own spices to it to make our traditional butter. You use ghee instead or skip it all together.
Can I eat ijara with this stew, look delicious 😋

I absolutely love the video but I just wish you listed some of the amounts and ingredients specifically so I wouldn't know how much to add of what

I'm determined .
That looked delicious 😋 .
How much berber did she use
Loveeee this!!! Can I skip the berebere tho? Or just put a small amount?
You can put as much amount you’d like my dear. I’ve never tried one without berbere but you can try turmeric if you don’t want it spicy
I died when I read skip berbere. Wouldn't be ethiopian to me with no berbere
