I used credit card for buying gold at Dubai. 3.5% markup charge +18% GST for markup charge. Ex. 100000 +3500+630= 104130 So around 4.13% If we convert INR to Drhm at India minimum charge is 3.25%+ tax(180rs for 1L). So around 3.42% International credit card is better than carry a currency for Gold purchase. Making charge is 5 to 6 % is reasonable at branded shop. More than 6% not profitable at there. Maximum branded shop they charge more making charge.
3 questions: 1. I heard the making charge of jewelry in Dubai Souk is around 20% or more compared to around 7% in India. Can you provide a rough estimate of the making charge of a similar design in both countries? 2. Is paying by cash (AED or USD) results in 2.5% discount compared to using credit card? 3. For investment purpose, is it better to buy Bullions / Coins (instead of jewelry)? Since they don't have much making charge and can benefit from reduced gold price at Dubai + refund of the 5% VAT.
Bro if a man is carrying gold more than 20 garms then doesn't ke needs to pay the customs duty. What are you saying about the ornaments that you can wear of more than the allowed amount and you won't have any problem. How's that possible
Thanks for the straight forward info. Every damn video is of finance influencers making cringy skits around why buying gold in Dubai is not a good idea. God damn. So cringy and absolutely uninformative. You saved me a lot of time.
Hey, thanks for the information. But I have one question I have been working in Dubai for around 2 years but I visited India 2 times.. so it is like if I have to carry 10gm I have to be in Dubai for the continuous previous 12 months?
Thanks for straight info , I am going from USA to India and my overnight stay in Dubai. If I want to do normal gold shopping where quickly I visited ( Trusted gold shop) near airport to buy gold . if you could help
Can you please answer my queries: 1.) I'm planning to buy gold in Dubai for my wife and kid. I now know that we need to pay 38.5 percent as tax as I don't stay in Dubai. Can they wear it and come out safely without being caught at Bangalore airport from Dubai? 2.) In the customs form I shouldn't mention that these 40gms or 2 lakhs worth gold is purchased from Dubai right? 3.) Does Malabar or Joyalukas in Gold Souk Dubai offer free making charges or you need to visit local shops in Shouk? 4.) Do all shops charge for credit card or some shops exempt? 5.) Is it possible to get caught with gold (20gms or lesser) even if we say that this was purchased in India? I'm landing at Bangalore airport so if you have any suggestions, please let me know. 6.) what's the total savings that we can get buying 40gms gold in total (for my wife and kid) when compared to India? Is it worth taking all these tensions?
I won’t be advising anything against the laws. But what I saw is mentioned in the video. - To avoid making charges go to Gold souk -Yes all gold shops charge extra for credit card - Not much difference in saving if you buy little amount of gold - Customs have caught several people brining gold coins and biscuits

If you use a niyo credit card with 0% charges then a shop person can charge 2.5% extra charges for the card ?
@Naveen_Y9 niyo is a big scam. Check my other video from same series

Yeah you can buy at airport. Not much price difference, but they charge more or less based on designs and stones used in jewellery.

If I use credit card to buy gold in Dubai. How much cost they charge for credit card and bank side fees.
Depends from where you are buying, some shops wont charge extra, some shop will charge 50 to 100 dhirams extra
Can I use debit card there ?
Is there any charges for debit card
RBI has blocked all Debit cards outside of India sadly.
If i had international access of my debit card ,will it work?
Nope, credit card only works
