i'm not tongan, but i know one of the Fakafanuas, i went to high school with her, but i just love the Tongan culture! the dances and the gatherings, just one question, when everyone was dancing, why were some woman sitting on the floor?

What if the mother is ranked higher than the father? Is it the father's side who sits on the floor?

+Te Wharau Walker I've never heard of that to be the case. In Tongan culture, in one respect you're higher than someone, but still considered lower than someone else (i.e.: You maybe ranked higher in your mother's side but still ranked lower than your father's eldest sister on your father's side.)
