  • The idea about the first ever inflatable pocket-size snowshoes originated in the mountain. The inventor of Small Foot Peter Dimitrov is a freeride snowboarder and a designer of sports outfit.
The development of the first prototypes started in 2011 and in 2012 the model Universal was among the finalist at ISPO BrandNew Awards and the team received the start-up award of Forbes Business Awards.
They are made from two layers of material - outer which is strong and protects them from damage and internal (a balloon) which is air-tight and inflatable. When used, the snowshoes are inflated with a small pump and then attached to the feet with straps. After that the air is released and the snowshoes can be put away in a backpack or special bags suitable for different sports - snowboarding, paragliding, to be hung on a backpack or a belt.
In 2015 Small Foot conducted a successful Kickstarter campaign when they introduced the second model of snowshoes - Revolution. This model won RedDot Design Award in 2016 and German Design Award in 2017. In 2016 they were certified by NATO and the company started to supply them to the United Kingdom army. In 2019 the team used its patented design to develop an inflatable stretcher which can be used by rescue teams. Two years later Small Foot presented their third model snowshoes which is named Musala. It combines the best qualities of Universal and Revolution but is even easier to use and has very good steep climbing and descending characteristic features.
The product is а part of the featured products in the book "Bulgarian Product Design 2000/2022" and is a part of the national traveling exhibition, based on the book.
