⚡️⚡️ UPDATE - NOV 11, 2019 ⚡️⚡️
We have many new recommendations. Watch our new "Top 5 Budget Cams 2020" video: • Top 5 Budget Dash Cams... We've also updated our picks below.

OUR PICKS & WHERE TO GET THEM
In 2016 we received the Viofo A119 from the manufacturer and the A118C and G1W from Spy-Tec for free. We got a volume discount for buying many cameras from eStore009 Other cameras used were purchased at full retail price. Since 2017 I've purchased all dash cams and accessories at full retail price. I've never been directly paid for a review by a manufacturer or retailer. When you buy using links below, I may earn an affiliate commission.
1️⃣ VIOFO A119V3 - $110 | Best Budget Camera
The 2019 upgrade to the A119 we reviewed. It has better night quality, parking mode and all the issues with the older model have been fixed.

3️⃣ ROAV A1 | Top Cheap Pick

So happy you made an updated video!! Thanks for your hard work. Looking forward to your premium camera recommendations. Happy New year!😊
Thanks Kassy! Happy new year to you too (belated). I'm looking forward to releasing them right after I get the A119S video done.
The quality and depth of consumer information as well as the production value of these videos is incredible! You need to consider something like a patreon link for us to give back.
Hey Adam I might go with patreon in the future, I want to refine a few things first. The affiliate links in each video you can use to buy things and I get a percentage of the sales. That's the biggest help for me. Thanks for the feedback!

⚡️⚡️ UPDATE - NOV 11, 2019 ⚡️⚡️
We have many new dash cam recommendations. Watch our new "Top 5 Budget Cams 2020" video here: ruclips.net/video/d-KBKzkOKS0/видео.html
Best Dashcam review in the entire RUclips. This is the quality and information I was looking for. Really like the way you come back and update your review on changes and failures.
Thank you, Balaji!
-Rolands
I have the transcend 200 its absolutely amazing for the price and records pretty amazing video.
I can imagine you driving around with 5 cameras mounted all the time.
It's as beautiful and wonderful as you might expect.
Only five?
Do you actually have 5 ? Is it a great idea ?
Front, back, left, right, and passengers. Yeah, I can see the benefits.
EXCESSORIZE ME. 7
Damn, the flow of the video was amazing because I've never really sat down to watch a review fully. Im going to watch it again.
Fellow Torontonians here! Thank you for all the great work you've put into this video, very informative for those who aren't so familiar with electronics. Also love the fact that you constantly check back and update the description boxes!
Hey Conan. Thanks for the kind words. We try our best!
-Rolands
best style of review. thank you!
Thanks BP!
Thank you for posting this video. I've been thinking about getting an in car camera for awhile now but was overwhelmed by the idea. Your video was very informative and helped me make a decision. This is quality information and I cannot express how helpful it was. Thanks again.
Glad I could help Aaron, I try my best!
If I use a "Add a Fuse" and wire it into the fuse box to a fuse that is always on (In other words if I have the camera running always even when the car is off) will it drain my battery over night?
Also I went with the Goluk T3 and I like it a lot. Being able to access the video right through the App on my iPhone is very simple and convenient. I'd like to get it hard wired into the fuse box so it's always recording for the least amount of money. And obviously I don't want a dead car battery in the morning! Any tips would be so helpful. I'll be hard wiring the Goluk into a 2014 Kia Soul.
Update: I purchased a "Kimdrox 3A/15W Dual Power Adapter 12V to 5V double USB cable Connector" and a "Add a Fuse." Am I headed in the right direction? Also I find is so odd that Americans are not on top of this dash cam situation as much as so many other countries. I don't think any of the material I've researched had been USA based.
Hey Aaron, there's not cutoff on that device as you mentioned. I'm a fan of the add a fuse plus a voltage cutoff device like the Vico Power-Plus or the Multi Safer. I made a much longer article here which includes parts and some videos on installation: www.carcamcentral.com/guide/guide-parked-recording-dash-cameras
Sorry about the late reply, RUclips does not make it easy to find out when someone posts a response.
Love your videos, Andrew. No hype, honest opinion, thorough testing, and (best of all) comparison video with day and night views. Solid, dude.
Thank you very much!
-Rolands
I love your videos. I can tell that you really speak from the heart and are never swayed by the companies of the cameras you review. Keep up the great work.
Thanks lorderik, I try my best.
Car Cam Central hi 👋, I was wondering that is the battery g1w camera can handle the freezing cold weather like in Canada ?
I love the specs of the A119 for the price, and hope to see very soon your review of the A119S.
Unboxed the A119S yesterday, I'll be driving around with them and looking at the video quality as everything else is the same.
David, I did an analysis of the video quality. My current thoughts is that the A119S does have better dynamic range but it's not good enough to warrant an extra $20. Longer post on Reddit here: bit.ly/A119S_Compare
Thank you for the video, it would be great if you can make a full Goluk T3 review with an emphasis on parking mode, there are no videos for the T3 on youtube
I'll do my best to get to that ASAP.
So glad I got the T3 last year. Been running two of them front and rear for 9 months and I can tell you parking mode works very well. The motion activation works extremely well. The video starts before you even see anything come across the camera. I also use a battery backup. The Anypower T plus battery backup is awesome and I've ran both camera for 2 days in parking mode. It's a lot more inexpensive than the other more talked about cell link b. My whole setup for both cameras and battery back up is only $350
Great video! I know absolutely nothing about dash cams and am happy to have found your channel.
Thank you oahugrown07. We are very happy to help.

Never thought I'd have fun looking up dash cams. I love how the information was presented and was very clear and to the point. Excellent work. :)
Thanks! We try our best!
-Rolands
thank you for the video.
I hope you can make a comparison video between the A119 and the just released A119S
I read that the S should be better in low light and the regular better in daylight. Wonder if your own testing confirms those findings 😃
I definitely will with how many people are asking.
Hey Elara, I did an early analysis. I don't think the A119S is worth it. has better dynamic range but I wouldn't pay an extra $20 for it and lose out on sharpness. Made a post on Reddit about it with more details and videos: bit.ly/A119S_Compare
A wo won 8 is cheaper than A wo won 9. So buy a cheap one :D
Glad I got the A119 as I captured a collision with it. Still waiting for a CPL filter though.
The filter is out! Shoot I knew I forgot to mention something in the video. Here's what I wrote in the description of the A119 review.
POLARIZER
The official polarizer has been released which clips onto your lens to reduce glare from your windshield. Unfortunately for the A119 this will prevent your lens from moving side to side. As well as it lacks the detent slot found on the A118CV2 so it's recommend to use blu-tack or tape to make sure it doesn't slip off.
Amazon USA: bit.ly/A119_CPL_ClipOn_Amazon
BlueSkySea Version
There's another version which uses adhesive to stick the polarizer onto your lens which allows for movement but it doesn't allow you to pull it off and retatch it.
Amazon USA: bit.ly/A119_CPL_Glue_Amazon
eBay: bit.ly/A119_CPL_Glue_eBay
These CPLs are just released so we'll keep you updated on their performance. See the ongoing discussion at DashCamTalk: bit.ly/A119_CPL_DashCamTalk
Hahha, I see you already posted there.
Thank you for this very informative video about the good dash cams for the budget. Really appreciate it !!!
Non nonsense review and straight to-the-point, with Descriptions and Links ... what else do we need ? Thanks million mate !
You're welcome Philip. Check back soon. We'll have the A119 Pro review.
-Rolands
Just bought "Viofo A119 " and "Transcend 32GB sdcard" for about $108 with tax and everything on Amazon, just as you recommended both! Hopefully they are great as you described
Thank-you !
Hey. They should be. If you have any questions be sure to get back to us! Hope your product serves you well!

Car Cam Central
Thankyou again !
I bought the Viofo A119 after watching this and many other reviews. NOTHING but trouble from day 1. First the hardwire cable didn't work correctly. After replacement, that worked. Next, the brand new SanDisk SD card got corrupted and stopped working no matter how I formatted it (tried via dashcam, Linux, Windows, deleting the partitions, different file systems - nada). New SD card in place. Then it turns out there is a bad connection between the GPS bracket and the camera so suddenly it would go into a loop turning on/off/on/off with a beep sound in between. This could explain the corrupted SD card. Doing some research online shows lots of people have this problem with the GPS bracket. I added a piece of tape to the bracket to make the connection tighter. Seemed to work for a few days, but one day I noticed the screen flickering. Well, might just be magnetic interference or crap quality screen I figured. Now the camera doesn't record anymore. It turns on, but no recording. Buttons beep when pressed, but nothing happens. The timestamp counts 2 seconds after turning on, then freezes. Resetting will make the unit restart, but with the same problem. Well, I guess it's time for me to have some fun with this infamous Viofo support service. Thank you for your terrible recommendation.
Hey Senseipt, sorry you had such an issue with the camera. Yes, Viofo's service is terrible. I try to point people towards third-party resellers who I know are solid (OCD Tronic, BlackBoxMyCar and Capture Your Action). All three received new GPS mounts which fixed the issues with the older pin mounts and shipped them out for free.
The problems with the old camera are definitely well documented and we should have pushed out a video letting people know about the update. We'll do better in the future.
-Andrew
Is it possible to have bought a fake viofo? Where did you buy it?
Thankyou my friend - excellent reviews ! I will be buying one of these cams today
Looks cold in Toronto, awesome reviews and keep up the great work.
Thank you very much. We will!
-Rolands
Can you do a review on a good quality dash camera worth 20 dollars or below?
If I find one I definitely will. So far I haven't seen one where I'm comfortable recommending.
tnx so much
Oh Yea!!!!
This 🚆 keeps on going.

Awesome video. Thanks for taking the time to make it!
Glad I could help!
Great video...thank you for taking the time to share.
Thank you Excursion.

Great video and channel. I subscribed. I am a tech guy myself (check out my channel) but I know almost nothing about dash cams. I'm so glad you put all this info in one place and that I found your channel.
Awesome stuff! I took a look through, I'm a camera and filming nerd so I'll check some of the Sony stuff out. Glad I could help. Keep up the work on your end.
Kinda glossed over the fact that 2 cameras were given for free, but never mentioned which ones.
It's in the description, I listed which ones I bought and received for free and where I got those from. I didn't want to go into detail because that would be 20-30 seconds of just disclosure. I should have mentioned the description though.
SHIFTIBOI who gives a shit. That's not what is important here.
Man you just saved me SO much time and money. Thank you.
Glad to help! There's a newer video now if you haven't seen it: ruclips.net/video/d-KBKzkOKS0/видео.html
Great video and super informative. I am currently in the market for a dash cam and this video helped. Thanks alot.
Hey Rebecca. Glad we can help! Hope your product serves you well!

Pewdiepie fear this man, he's the next big deal
not sure if he's racist enough.
Great review of a good selection of cams. I recently went for the Viofo A119 following your previous review. I'm very happy with it's performance and it covers all my needs. Thanks for your excellent video 👍🏻🙂
Thanks Todd, appreciate the comment! 🙌
Great job!! I liked your presentation and how you shared all the important details. :)
Thanks Vortex!
Very well done video! Why not buy 2 of whichever you choose-for front/rear coverage?
wow this channel is incredible for someone who knows nothing about dash cams. definitely going to be watching more to find myself a suitable cam!

Finally a reviewer who shows “PARKING MODE” ,,,,,,, most reviews focus on dumb stuff like the box it came in and the package but you didn’t.........you’re the best and I definitely subscribed.
Thanks Dareal, there's a new version of this review coming out in the future.
-Andrew
Glad I found your reviews. Excellent information to help get me started. I really like the front and rear cams. Hopefully I'll make the right choice.
Glad I could help! Let me know if you ahve more questions.
Great Video... I am about to upgrade my fwd facing camera which is in a rear view mirror snap over, I am going to add a rear camera as many threats are coming from the rear... ie rear ended.... Great video!!!

Thanks for the great review! I had no idea the Rexing was so much larger than the A119.
No problems Star, glad I could help.
Great video here as always, looking forward to the A119S video before I pull the trigger on it or the original.
Hey Eddy, I did an early analysis. I don't think the A119S is worth it. has better dynamic range but I wouldn't pay an extra $20 for it and lose out on sharpness. Made a post on Reddit about it with more details and videos: bit.ly/A119S_Compare
Car Cam Central Hey sorry, only just saw this, thanks for the reply! I went ahead with the A119 and I'm super impressed.
Great video as always. I did go with
All9 for my other car and I am happy with it....
Hey again John. Thanks for comment, much appreciated.
Very professional video, thanks for reviewing
Thanks Dylan!
I actually bought the Yi Dash cam based on your reviews. I got a great deal on it from NCIX. Thanks for your reviews. They are excellent!
It was on sale at a really good price. Glad to help!

👍👍 Thanks Alfonso, enjoy!
Thank you, good info
Thanks, Henrik!
-Rolands
just bought a119 v2. thanks for the reviews. saved me a ton of time googling. i got the transcend 400x sd card with it on amazon.
Hey. Should be good purchases. Hope your products serve you well. If anything, let us know.
-Rolands
the camera is holding out very good. i STRONGLY recommend buying the polarizer. thought i didn't need it, turns out i do. though i've never experienced the same glare with other cheap dash cam... wonder why
I had no intention on subscribing when I 1st saw the videos. But then I realized the amount of detail, and quality that goes into shooting everything they have to shoot. And the links to everything that's seen and discussed....I was obligated to subscribe. The quality is GREAT, and the DESCRIPTIONS are not unnecessary, and filled with a bunch of bias.
Just a simple formula:
1. Here's what we looked into
2. Here's how it works/worked.
3. Here's the specific detailed comparisons & what we recommend.
Looooooooove how you got straight to the point!!!!!!
Hey thanks a lot for subscribing and for acknowledging what I'm trying to do with the brand. I'm designing the type of reviews I would have wanted when doing research. Hopefully should launch a new review channel in the future on office productivity tools like standing desks, backpacks, etc.
-Andrew
@@Lam is DEFINITELY a brand worth building. That is exactly how I prefer reviews to be!!! None of that extra content that allllllllll the other channels tend to do, or hyped up "what's up guys" approach.
I have to mention again, it was shot extremely well. I adore how well it was done. You and your team do GREAT SHOTS. It might not be easy, but it's creatively worth it.
Thanks - it's just me filming but it makes me happy that the extra work going into the product is making a difference for some people. It takes a long time to refine and cut out any fluff in the review. It's a painful process and I think it's why a lot of reviews aren't that good - they just don't want to do the work.
Can't wait for the Goluk T3 review. I checked out their dash cam videos and reviews. I am impressed. I am sure your review will give me a better idea. Thank you
It'll be out in 2-3 weeks, just have to get some other videos out first.
Thank you. I am looking forward to watch the review.
Are you going to do in cab look review of the goluk t3 ?
Good day Andrew. As always, nice review. Just want to ask how's the parking mode of the A119v2?thanks
Hello, Philip. Unfortunately, we haven't done any tests to judge how it performs. Sorry.
-Rolands
As always, excellent around up review. You sway me into a Viofo 119A or S model :)... waiting for your review on the 119S before purchasing one.
I did the unboxing yesterday of the A119S so I'll have the testing done soon. I'll release a statement of the results first then the actual video soon after.
Great stuff - thanks.
Thanks Senior!
Great video mang!
Thank you ACoustaDC!

thank you, this helped me buy a dash cam.
Thank you for watching. What did you end up buying?

Great review
Thank you!
-Rolands
Thanks Andrew! I am going to purchase the A119S.
While it's not a bad camera from what I've seen the video quality isn't great. I did the unboxing yesterday of the A119S so I'll have the testing done soon. I'll write about the results first then release the review soon after.
Great video! Really helpful for my search for my next dash cam. I wish your video was available before I bought the last 4 dashcams that are now junk.
I see the A119 with and without the GPS module. Is the GPS worth it if I don't use the GPS Viewer software? In other words, what are the benefits of GPS outside of being able to view it with the GPS Viewer?
Hi Stephan, thanks! I think GPS isn't useful for most people, courts aren't likely to accept it for speeding tickets unless you have an expert witness. Tracking teenage drivers and company assets, maybe. The quick release function is useful. If you don't need that, save the $10.
Best reviews, Cheers👍
Thanks Somchiman!
Love your videos, will buy myself a dash cam based on your info. BTW I didn't know you guys have JYSK in the USA lol
Thanks. Keep watching us. What camera are you buying?
-Rolands
Hi there, Its really nice watched your helpful reviews on dash cam. I need an advice on budged dash cam that can also recording inside the cabin. Looking forward for your suggestion. Thanks
Hello. Please see our video of taxi cameras I think that's exactly what you are looking for. Also, the Vantrue N2 Pro looks to be a good choice, but we haven't tested it out ourselves so I can't give it a thumbs up just yet.
ruclips.net/video/0oYqnqb6Agc/видео.html
-Rolands
my research is done thank you
Keep watching us!
-Rolands
Very nicely done comparison video
Thanks, Jeff.
-Rolands
Car Cam Central, Thanks for all your amazing reviews. Can you please share your thoughts on YI vs VantrueN2?
Hello Samir. The Vantrue N2 is meant to be a taxi camera but fails at its intended purpose. At night you can’t see passengers as the N2 lacks infrared lights. If you’re looking to use this as a cheap rear camera you often won’t be able to see anything out the windshield. It has nice design, the rubberized body and matte dark grey texture is quite appealing. Vantrue also provides good customer support. The Yi dash cam is the cheapest Wi-Fi camera we recommend. The fact that it uses battery instead of a capacitor is a drawback, but we haven’t noticed any thermal issues yet and at $60 it is a great value pick. The Yi dash cam is our value pick over Vantrue N2 by a mile.
Rolands - Community Support
I want to thank you for your job!
You are doing a fantastic reviews and only after watching your videos I desided not to buy Yi dash cam because of heating problems. So now I have a119s. Hope to see your review on it!)
Good luck and happiness to you!)
I did the unboxing yesterday of the A119S so I'll have the testing done soon. Statement out first then the actual video soon after.
Thank you for this video!!! Which camera did you get for free though? Did any of them make it to the best ones?
The Viofo A119 and yes it did make it as our top value pick. We got that one from Viofo. The A118C we got from Spytec. I wish we purchased the A119 ourselves but we have purchased both the A119V2 and A119S at full retail cost from Amazon.
Instead of the usual "we have complete creative control" I just tell people to look at the data. Yes Amazon reviews haven't been strong and I attribute that to Viofo's somewhat poor outreach to users who purchased cameras not from "quality" retailers.
-Andrew
A clear video. Thanks
Thank you for watching!
-Rolands
What about rear cameras? Do you think they are worth it and can be helpful?
