Most of these can easily be chalked up to it being obvious additions.
Copper is a common ore, shields are an obvious choice for protection, etc.

Agreed, not only do we have more combinations to use, but we can also make them player specific with a diamond on the lock.
Thus you actually have DOUBLE in a single player world.

Let me tell you one thing you might didn't know about Minecraft. Redstone Dust can't be connected through any solid blocks, but they can through Stairs and Slabs, no matter where the Stairs are facing.
