    The Lego games have explored many stories that we’ve come to know and love, but they've had to censor some moments for the younger player base. For this list, we'll be looking at how Lego games have altered some moments that weren't appropriate for all audiences. Our list includes Harry’s Awful Family from “Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4” (2010), Dooku’s Demise from “Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” (2022), Gazerbeam’s Fate from “Lego The Incredibles” (2018), and more! Which of these censors did you feel was unnecessary? Was there something we might have forgotten about? Share with us in the comments below!

    Even more funny is: In countries like Germany, the "Skywalker Saga" is rated for 12 year olds. Since video-game-, series- and movie-ratings are the same here.
    This is hight enaught for milder action-movies, that would be rated PG-13 in the U.S. (I don't know how to compare it better). As you mentioned in this video, it has many scenes altered or cut, that where more faitfull in the first two Lego Star Wars games. But the older games are rated for 6 year olds, despite being more brutal, at least in the cutscenes.

    Lego Indiana Jones: Even the official Lego sets don’t have any imagery as they do not like promoting war of any kind.
    Lego Harry Potter Year 5-7: They killed Nagini in a boss fight before the boss fight with Voldemort
    Lego Jurassic World: Nobody dies in any of the movies.
    Lego Incredibles: The first movie is really inaccurate. Frozone is not supposed to be on the island anyways. They also left out the other reason Mr. Incredible was being sued for saving a man’s life. Also again, nobody dies. For a movie that’s rated PG (the equivalent of an E10+), they sure censored a lot of things.
    Lego Movie 2: The tension with Rex’s existence being erased was missing and instead only being talked about via Wyldstyle’s narration. No final boss battle or anything like that.
    Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga: You hear Count Dooku’s head pop off (side note the DS version of the Complete Saga shows his head). The Complete Saga also shows General Grevious’ death correctly but Commander Cody also dies too.

Not sure if that was acted or the actor was genuinely concerned the glass would fall out since they had to have the glass just resting in the frame so they could remove it for the scene.

    In the "Back To The Future" level that is unlocked by playing as Marty in "Lego Dimensions", they were able to censor the part with the Libian terrorists shooting at Doc in the most surprising way: Doc is seen easily avoiding all of the gunfire that the Libians are able to use until they run out, to which they are then able to attack Doc by hitting him in the head with a baseball, which doesn't kill him, but rather knocks him out cold while he's able to mutter to himself.

    On the other hand, Shadow the Hedgehog (the video game from 2005) was *also* rated E10+ and has the titular character swear *every time* you get hit or lose a life. Granted, it's mild, but if Shadow can do that in a game that was toned down from T to E10+ before release (yes, even in other parts of the world), then I'm pretty sure TT Games could've kept some of the same mild swears in their games.

    I’ve always thought about this, why do they feel the need to sensor some things in the games? Idk how to explain it that well but take Jurassic park for example, that’s a movie everyone in the family would love to watch together right? Even the kids, so that means they’ve already seen the guys get eaten by the dinosaurs. But then in the Lego game we see some of those scenes get censored like it’s trying to hide the fact that they died from the kids. I haven’t played through it but in Lego incredibles I know they censor a lot of stuff but kids have already seen what happened in the movie like the supes being killed off. Know what I’m trying to say? Maybe it is for a good reason that they’re censoring some stuff but sometimes it doesn’t make sense

  • @SuperDuperNick

    Another point you missed while talking about Gazerbeam’s Fate. In the original movie, Syndrome tells Mr. Incredible that he hid under the bones of another super to trick the probe into thinking he was dead but in the game, Syndrome says he took advantage of an injured super which makes no sense there but I guess it was too dark to say “hide under the bones of another super” in a kids game because that implies he’s dead but I don’t get how Mr. Incredible took advantage of Gazerbeam. Like, they were on the same team

  • @benjithomas112
    @benjithomas112 2 года назад +29

    I think some of them though went a tad too far with censorship because the truth is kids are going to see a few disturbing things in their life anyway no matter how hard you try to censor it so by going over the top with pantomime you just make it worse for them to deal with the real thing for example I played Lego star wars then went straight to films just by following cravings blindly and I got quite touched by some of the shocking moments there because I was too young to realise there would be a difference

    • @big_dee33
      @big_dee33 Год назад

      kids are going to deal with tragedy so just shove it in thier face? yea, no. they still need places where they can still be innocent too. let the parents deal with the hard time and leave the video games for fun.

    • @benjithomas112
      @benjithomas112 Год назад +2

      @@big_dee33 It's mainly a balancing act between safe and danger with it and I think we can both agree that most of the time it's been going to far down the safe part of the scales . While yes I do agree that you can't go all in offensive right away but changing petty things like the colour of blood or a scar it's not needed because by the time they are playing the game they've already witnessed blood go out of them at the doctor's oh and scars just leave them be if it's not made to look aggressive simply because it's just a part of life that needs accepting. So simply with games or films yes be appropriate but don't go ridiculous with it cause then when kids get into the franchise the first place they will go next is the real film counterpart simply because to them at that age more means more and parents they seem to be ok with letting the internet baby sit so there shouldn't be a big problem with their kids scrolling through the TV film channel right.(sarcasm btw). Though the internet part that needs more time for discussion here though
      Which precisely leads into my last question? If parents are meant to help their kids why are they letting the internet do their occupation for them?
