When I was 7 I became fixated on a Lucuma tree that my family had. It was skinny and neglected and they said it would never bare fruit. I tended to it; watered it, trimmed it. Eventually, it produced green fruit. I did not tell anyone about it-rather I took one behind the shed, and ate the whole thing by myself. I had never tasted anything so sweet. It was like caramel. Eventually a Coati got to it and ate some of the fruit, but that’s a different story.
This has to be one of the best comments I've ever had the pleasure of reading! Thanks for sharing that great story! You got my mouth watering for some lucuma now!
I live in Miami were there is a lot of Peruvians and in some Latinos markets you can buy the frozen pulp that is very different in taste to the power one but if you can get it I can give you the recipe for it that happens to the same for mango Ice cream, just one thing is not healthy one bit.
I literally just received a bag of lucuma powder I bought on Amazon, mixed it with vanilla ice cream! A banger! Tomorrow I will try with my morning oatmeal. You gotta try it!
You can use it in baking, or in marinades or in smoothies! There are a lot of things you can use it in because it can replace other sweeteners like white and brown sugar. Enjoy!
