    It was an honor to compete against Mitchell. He can definitely contend with the best long drivers in the world. One day it would be awesome to see him make a run at the World Long Drive Championship.
    As a huge fan of strength sports it’s cool to meet the World’s Strongest Man. Mitchell is such a nice guy in person - truly embodies the LHBK motto.
    Including the Swingplates shout-out is much appreciated.

    Damn, this is super impressive, I used to compete in LD back in the late 2000s and early 2010s. It's crazy how how good the competition has got, back then then you wouldn't see many guys breaking 210mph until you went to Worlds. I knew you were a good golfer and obviously a great well rounded athlete so to be honest I am only somewhat surprised by your results here but mostly because I would imagine you are giving up a lot of club head speed and flexibility due to the strongman specific training. Wouldn't be surprised to see you compete in LD maybe in the future. Anyway, this is super impressive.

    Fun video. Just a point of clarification. The grooves on a driver don't change the spin. The real reason is that it allows finer manufacturing tolerances and less cost. You are trying to get a thin face and maximum COR, and it's harder to achieve that with a durable long drive head if you have grooves. The main purpose of grooves in a golf club is to channel away dirt and moisture to ensure the ball has maximum contact with the face. Just like a car tire channeling away water.

    One tip for you I can see from here. I can also drive a ball like no ones business and gained a lot of muscle between my first and best drives. You need to aim AT the ball not through it. It looks like your power is leading in front of the ball. I bet you'd gain more just by trying to imagine you're trying to smash and break the ball not swinging through it. Let the follow through be relaxed from contact forward.

  • @recoilrob324
    @recoilrob324 7 месяцев назад

    What 's most impressive to me is how that ball takes SO many smashes without failing! Somehow I'd think that there can only be a limited number of times it can be compressed before it starts to lose rebound ability. Slo-mo video shows the ball being compressed nearly in half...that's amazing.

    Certainly a higher quality swing than Eddie Hall displayed with Shiels. Mitchell should hit up Kyle Berkshire, he's trying to get stronger to push his limits even further as he thinks he got quite a bit of potential in the strength department. He's actually surprisingly weak in terms of static lifts, really shows technique is king, and speed isn't entirely dependent on strength level.

    Spin may be more important than most experts are thinking. Without spin, your drives are going to take a nose dive and not stay long enough in the air to carry as is needed for long drives. I started out with a PING I25 8 degree driver on a Fujikura Ventus Red flexible shaft but the ball nose dived on me. When I switched to the Fujikura Atmos flexible shaft my ball stayed in the air and my drives gained an additional 25 yards.
