    Owned an 890 R for about 4 months. I absolutely loved the bike, but it turned me into a 66 yr old hooligan and I knew if I didn’t get rid of it I would either windup in jail or die. The most hypnotic, communicative, telepathic bike I’ve ever owned. Oh to be young again with a track close by!

    My bike is a KTM Duke 390, TBH that's the most powerful bike I have ridden in my country, until i got the chance to ride the 22 MY 890 R a few weeks ago.physically it felt just like another Duke 390. The dimensions, seat height, everything felt kinda similar except that power, my Goooooooooood, it felt like I was having a fun heart attack, after just 1 kilometre of riding, I was soooooo happy, that i literally laid on the grass and cried of laughing...I have never felt anything that's addictive or ecstatic like it in my entire life...

    In my 3rd summer with the 890 Duke R and people that have never ridden this bike will never know just how good it is in the twisties. It actually makes you a better rider with so much confidence taking corners. The suspension is adjustable so when he’s saying it’s firm, it can be adjusted to whatever you like. I adjusted mine to a more softer ride. I’m 6’2” and 215 lbs and adjusted it so I could enjoy 3 good hours of riding in the hills and mountains. It carves it up!

    • @Steve-motorcycles
      @Steve-motorcycles Год назад +4

      @@Tall_Paul_On_Bikes the KTM 890 duke R in my opinion, is as about as much fun as you can have on a bike given the right roads. On start up, the screen say’s ready to race? The bike certainly inspires you to ride, let’s say spiritedly. However, it’s not always easy to control that keenness say, on a wet Monday morning on the commute to work. It will do it but it edges you to go and ride like a twat every minute.. The MT09, the gen 3 has that side to it but is also quite happy to poodle along in a high gear, low revs and amble about cruising. either bike is great. You won’t make a bad choice. My ownership experience on a KTM duke spoils my desire to own another. On fun factor, I’d give the Duke a 10 and the MT09SP 9.5 however, to own I’d give the Yamaha a 10 and the KTM a generous 8

    • @billpayer3745
      @billpayer3745 Год назад +3

      @@Tall_Paul_On_Bikes Geometry is pretty similar but when you ride them back to back, the triple just feels more refined and grown up. If you want to hoon around all the time, the KTM is a great option. If you want something you can hoon around on, do some touring, do some commuting, nip to the shops. The Yam does it all. It's all things to all men (and women).😎

    This bike is PHENOMENAL, albeit a one trick pony, that trick being the twisties. I used to have one & LOVED it. I live in Eastern Spain (Comunidad Valenciana) & we have some awesome, very technical curvy roads & this thing is 'la leche' (f***ing brilliant) in local parlance. True, you have to concentrate - it's faster than you (at least me) are, but wow. I suggest you blag a long termer & get yourself over here to find out what it can really do on the road - endless tight, well-surfaced, connected technical twisties, where you can push the suspension, lean on the brakes & get the most out of the engine grunt on exits, without having to worry about police or traffic. I now have a BMW RS, to do everything, including long distance traveling (& I love it), but if I could have more bikes, this would still be in my stable. Great vid as always, looking forward to the comparison.

Ive owned alot of bikes in over 25 years of riding and this is the most fun on 2 wheels ive ever had. All it needs is a track pack and exhaust and it unleashes the animal within. Ive ridden and left for dead much bigger bikes in the twisties. It loves the back wheel. The only downside is the cup2 mileage. They are like chewing gum. Mental grip but dont exspect more then 2k miles. Maddest thing is it still returns 20mpg more then my Mt09. Ive got 67mpg on average and never seen below 55mpg even riden hard. Magnificent machine. Ps 0-80mph a Superduke 1290 cant get away. 50-100mph its a different story. In the twisties my pal struggles to keep up on a 1290. Especiallly into and out of corners. Had it replaced 3x, and it never helped. I've had it serviced twice by KTM, and both times, it comes back having false gas guage readings. After about a week, it fixes itself but its been annoying having range anxiety while on it. Small issues but scared to spend a bunch on another KTM. I'm 6'5 (196cm) and it isn't too small for me.
    And if you want even more agressive riding position just add Woodcraft clip ons.

      as someone who's short (167cm, 5'6) I'm just curious how does it feel for a ~2M person to ride a bike, supersports, naked sports, big adventure bikes and such,

      @@sadeqalbana Depends a lot on the bike.
      The new Fireblade R-RR-RRR-RRRRRr is impossible for me.
      Pegs are stupid high.
      Knee angle is impossible.
      Aprilla RSV 4 is too cramped as well.
      The older liter bikes vere ok.
      I have had a KTM RC8 which was really roomy for a sports bike. 2009 Fireblade was comfortable. 2005 Kawa Ninja 10 wasn't bad ergonomicly but it was a bike that otherwise tries to actively kill you. 😁
      GSX-R line of sports bikes are really comfortable.
      The new R1 not comfortable at all.
      Most naked bikes are just fine.
      I have riden the Street Triple, Speed Triple, Monster, MT-09, MT-10, Superdukes, and no issues.
      Big Supermotos are a lot of fun.
      Hypermotards, SMC-R 690...
      Few of my friends could not even consider the Hyper SP because they can't reach the ground. For me it is perfect.
      But I do like my Duke 890R more than the Hyper.
      A lot of people over estimate the effects of wind or no fairings.
      Even thou I'm tall I can cruise in comfort on a naked bike at 160 km (100mph) for hours.
      This summer I rode from Travemünde North Germany to Neukirhen Austria in one go overnight. 1070 km in 11 hours. On the Duke 890R.
      No screen.
      Just wear good gear that doesn't flap around at all and have a good helmet and good ear plugs and it's not a big deal.
      Only above 170kmh it gets to me on longer high way stints and at those speeds a screen and fairings start to become essential.

      @trevorbrowneguitar6311 not as simple as that at all. I have a 1290 sdr gen3 and it's pretty damn handy in the corners and on straights, but I'd love to try a 890r to see if it would be just as much fun or maybe better in some ways 🤷‍♂️

    Said it before I tried this the 765rs and the 2023 mt09 sp Yamaha is in my garage now due to build quality electrical sweep and how fun it is easily as quick as this in a straight line triumph may have the edge on both at the top but feels flatter elsewhere I don’t regret buying the yam at all though best street bike I’ve owned makes the 1000s seem pointless on uk roads another thing to note is triumph ridiculous service prices and ktm’s lack of selling you a top end model with any gadgets on it the yam comes with everything that’s needed other than grips that were £180 makes the choice easier

    Nothing wrong with the bike or KTMs bikes as a concept. The problem is KTM as a company. The lack off quality and numerous problems pared with KTMs approach to fight their customers on warranty claims. Also their stupid policy to build in tech that you have to unlock at a additional fee is just retarded. One more problems is that the inshurence companies wants a whole lot off more money to inshure these bikes. The superduke in Sweden is 3x the price off a Tuono V4 or a MT10.

    Since the first day I have had issues with this bike. After taking my girlfriend for a ride the day after I bought it, I kept having this extreme creaking sound, likely from the rear suspension or swing arm. Then the front brakes started sounding the same, both issues the dealership told me is “normal”.
    I haven’t been able to ride it for almost a year now because I’m waiting on parts. Trust me, when you’re riding it (and it isn’t making noises that it isn’t supposed to) it’s incredible, but I would warn anyone against owning a KTM because the build quality and reliability is horrible.
