  • In this video we take a look at the new Creality K1 SE and see the features it does and doesnt have. I also have a K1C so we'll see how it compares to that machine as well. The SE is a stripped down version of the K1C so if you like to tinker or want to build a printer this could be the set up for you!

    Hey, just wanted to add from a K1 SE owner: I chose the K1 SE as a print almost exclusively in PLA. If you print PLA with the doors and top closed on the K1C, you run the risk of nozzle clogs due to heat creep. That's not an issue at all on the K1 SE. Since I almost exclusively print PLA, I didn't want to have the door open and top open all the time on the K1C, and I figured the $140 savings was worth it for otherwise the exact same printer. Although, I did add the K1 camera for $25, so I guess, $115 savings. Bed is almost exactly like yours, slanting to one side. Haven't had too bad of issues with 1st layer, so haven't shimmed or gear skipped it yet.
    Added moonraker and fluidd to it; big upgrade over Creality OS. And it's overall a million times better than my old Ender 3 V2 bedslinger I upgraded from. Thanks for the video.

    The SE is like a modern Ender 3 in that you get it to tinker with. For the price it's great (I bought one and loving it lol) but the K1 SE is cannibalizing the most expensive Ender 3 v3. Why get the regular Ender 3 v3, when the K1 SE is cheaper on Amazon as of the time of this comment? That's more of a criticism of the creality, not the product.

    The current k1s do have the unicorn nozzle,so for the price difference the Se is probably worth it to most people who primarily print PLA. However I just sold a K1C for $300 so there are options.

      @@joeking433 bambu is the apple of 3D Printing, closed source and with the latest firmware they are pushing it can block 3rd part stuff from being able to be hooked up or communicate with various software (all in the name of "security"...). They could also push a update to remove features you previously had or heck make it so your printer doesn't even work anymore, why they would do that is beyond me but it would theoretically be possible.

    For $20 more you can get a Qidi Q1 Pro with coupon and I'd definitely go with that over the K1 SE. It looks like a decent printer for the money, but the Creality printers have a poor extruder design currently. On a deep sale it could make sense.

      I like my Q1 pro as well. Along with the flash forge, its a pretty competitive market in that $400-600 price range! I personally am not one to buy a printer to build it, I would much rather it be turn key and just pretty pretty good with minimal tweaks.

      @@802Garage Thanks man. As an IT Engineer that’s lived in the virtual world for too many years I get a major kick out of bringing what’s on screen too life. As such, hooked… The thing that kicked my ass about this generation of printers (Bambu included) is actually pretty simple and I couldn’t understand why it took so long to come to fruition. Booting up, and accessing the machine from my phone (yeah I don’t do this, screens too damn small), tablet, laptop, that’s the way it should be. Follow that with auto bed mesh/leveling, calibration, etc…. and well we’ve arrived. This thing is consistently spot on and the prints show such a signifcant increase in quality vs using a piece of paper and adjustment wheels to get a decent first layer. Waiting for the right price point was important to me and even if (no if, I will) I upgrade it completely and enclose it, etc…. I can spend that money when I want to. The open source nature and community of modders is fun and motivational considering the great stuff people come up with as well.

    • @802Garage
      @802Garage 3 месяца назад +1

      @@TheJacklwilliams Yeah the open source community has also been the source of a lot of those upgrades you were waiting for. :) I will say having the option to tram the bed instead of just relying on mesh compensation is still a good thing to me. A lot of the K1 series come with a very off level bed, but the compensation does work well. Like I said, super glad it's working for you. I think the most important thing is for the owner to enjoy 3D printing!

    Do you consider this k1 se printer a reliable printer? I could get k1 SE for like 315 usd vs the bambu a1 for 375 (im from mexico, those are the current prices) i decided to go for the k1SE. I do like a lot more the idea of a core xy printer for even cheaper but im worried cuz this is would be my first printer and i've heard creality has a lot of quality control issues while bambulab is just easy printing. I do like tinkering and learning from fixing things since im in the custom built pcs hobby i just dont want something that makes me not wanting to use it cuz everytime there is something going wrong, i do consider i learn really fast and i have a decent amount of hardware and electronics knowledge cuz the pc hobby i mentioned before but i dont know anything about 3d printing ant this is my journey start. What are your thoughts on these, would you consider i should be fine with the k1 SE?

    i just returned mine as I am new to 3D printing because this printer has been kind of irritating.
    the printer started out fine but after a few days I started running into issues.
    the wifi would disconnect here and there not often but id have to turn the printer off the back on
    when the printer started doing the first layer of print it would do a little level and extrude some PLA but that little bit of PLA would stick to the extruder then get stuck on the first layer.
    today I started the printer and started doing a print and I noticed my printer had stopped so I checked the screen and found an Error: Leveling sensor chip abnormality, sensor damage or environmental impact
    I was able to get the Error to go away for alittle awhile after doing a full bed level and factory reset but it came back later on. I know im new to 3D printing so I could have been doing things wrong but I decided to just never print again so I returned it

      The wifi issues are caused by your network trying to enforce WPA3 if you have WPA2+3 enabled. I solved this by temporarily downgrading my wifi to WPA2, connecting the printer's wifi, then changing the wifi settings back to WPA2+3. That seems to have solved my connection issues. Other than that, sounds like you got a dud, sorry. My K1 SE has been solid 40+ prints in so far.
