    I think you are right. I used to get gel polish and my nails looked exactly like this client's after removal. Not only little round white spots, but those white streaks almost looking like a web or tumbleweed just like this. Also, the toe polish was just regular polish and was left on for a very long time, like a month. Once the polish was removed, the areas of the toenails where the polish had been all that time were just like I described above. No spots on the new growth. I think it's a combination of wearing the polish too long, in the case of regular nail polish on the toes. And for the gel polish, so much is done to "seal" everything in and on, that the same result happens, even with removal at 2 weeks. I think because in both cases (gel nails and regular polish being worn too long) the nails wind up being smothered and maybe the white spots represent an extreme dehydration.
    On the dazzle dry, you mentioned that the formula can get contaminated and that it's happened to you. By chance did you keep the bottle so that we might see what it looks like?
    Love your videos!!!

    My understanding of any nail coating, even regular old polish, is that all coatings continuously shrink over time so the longer you wear it, the more the coating is pulling at the top layer of the nail plate thus causing delamination. That’s why many of my pedicure clients who will wear their polish for an entire summer without removal end up with very white, dry toenails. And just like with our hair, some people are more dry, some people are more brittle, and some people are more prone to damage, therefore there is no definitive answer to the question of how long a client should keep a coating on before they remove it. Everyone is so different.
    I’ve been using Dazzle Dry for the past six months and have been loving the results, but as with all things, there is a learning curve. My latest lesson was that just because you can wear it longer doesn’t mean that you should wear it longer. One of my clients loved the results of her Dazzle Dry after the first trial so she had another manicure before a European vacation and kept it on for about a month. While it wore beautifully, we discovered that she had a good amount of “dehydration” which was really delamination. Now I am counseling my clients that yes, it is an amazing product, but we need to figure out what the sweet spot is for each person so that we avoid delaminating the nail from prolonged wear. And of course, HOME MAINTENANCE PEOPLE. Oil, oil, oil. If you never conditioned your hair or moisturized your face, would you question why you had brittle hair and a flaky face?

    You are making an excellent point about the drying and damaging effects of gel nails. I’ve been using them for years and the health of my nails has most definitely declined. They are much thinner, layers are lifting off at times and very brittle. Never occurred to me it could be the gel nail products. I look forward to giving Dazzle Dry a try and see how they improve. Thank you for sharing this info, the links and the discount!

    This was great to watch! I was just considering, after my first Shellac treatment, that I would never go back to regular polish (that never lasts longer than 3-4 days in my busy family practice, washing hands all day). Learning about CND and DD have given me hope. I notice after my Shellac treatment, just 1 week it is already growing out anyway, but I love how strong my nails feel. I will give Vinylux a try later this week to see how long it lasts. It looked great in the 2 videos I just watched. Thanks for posting!

      If you want more of the “gel manicure” feel, as in the thickness it gives, DD makes a product called Transform that will give that effect. It will smooth out any ridging in the nail and provide some extra strength/thickness to your manicure. It takes a little extra time to apply but it is worth it. You follow all of the prep steps as usual. Apply 2 coats of step 2 base. Allow to dry. Then apply 1 coat of transform. Allow to dry for a full 5 mins. This step is very important! Then apply another step 2 base and allow to dry. Then you 2 coats of color and your top coat.

    The whites spots on peoples nails can also be caused by using a high alkaline cuticle remover. I switched over to water manicures using the DD soak and it has completely stopped any of the white spots on my clients nails. If I get a client that has really “sticky” cuticles and I need to use a cuticle remover, I use the DD cuticle softener, make sure to use only a small amount (as to not not over-saturate the mail plate), and make sure to clean the mail plate with water to deactivate the cuticle softener. It has helped so much!

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 года назад +1

      In many cases it’s not due to alkaline cuticle removers. I always do dry manicures with Shellac and it happens. Same with feet. I use cuticle remover now and it doesn’t happen with Dazzle Dry (I only had maybe 3 clients who had that happen with DD, way way less than with gel polish and other polishes)
      Also it never happens for clients who never wear polish even though I use cuticle remover.
      Ps. I always rinse the cuticle remover.

    I tried both gel and dip, and both ended up absolutely wrecking my nails. I don't know if it was the removal process, the ingredients or what. The only way I brought my nails back was I have to use nail guards and full coverage false nails, along with a lot of oil soaks. If I use even just the nail guards and not the tips, my nails end up still a little damaged. Nowhere near as badly without them, but still. This makes really excited to hear/see how well your client is doing with Dazzle Dry. I'll have to give it a try! This video was very helpful.

    Very last question, is there any reason you dont cap the edges when using DD. Ive always hated that step on ever single coat base, color, or top when using other regular polish or gel as everyone swears by for longer lasting manicures but seems like it does always help things last more. Maybe with the DD quality it just isnt needed and simply brushing it past the tip is enough which would be amazing as that has always been my preference! :)

In the beginning I would get a week to 10 days out of it, but now it chips after a day. I do not know why. I am so sad, I thought I finally found a great alternative to Gel. I wish I knew why I cannot get more than a day out of it. I have purchased maybe 10 colors :(

    Just stumbled on your channel which I adore as was originally trying to figure out the best way to desk with cuticles and not cut too much as mine are lasts active on the nail plate and have excess I need to cut always when pushing back but hate the process. Always have lol. Comically I now have a new Dazzel Dry addiction and never had even heard of this brand shockingly in my nail obsession. I have gotten gel nails for years and have the brands my salon uses at home of my favorite colors between Madam Glam and Valentino however am just so tired of the exhaustion of removing gel nails. As much as I hate how fast my regular polish chips per cleaning and living lol, I feel like I have to use buckets of acetone or a nail drill to remove gel polish and even having super strong thick healthy nails all my life the acetone has started to sensitize my nails a bit when having to keep it on longer than 5 minutes max as is the case for gel removal. Nails drills even by pros damage the plate if used to remove entirely so have that huge dilemma not wanting to throw out my at home gel stash and professional led light but over the stress and endless time of removal among healing my nails after. So finding your chalet by outr accident for another reason entirely couldnt have come at a better time and getting DD on my radar. Not gonna lie it does feel very pricey for a non gel brand especially but if it gives the wear of gel and ease of removal of regular polish I just may have to dive in even with all the wasted money for my at home gel collection and professional light! 😅

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 года назад +1

      Hi Diana! Just came across this comment :)
      Acetone would not cause sensitivity but what causes the sensitivity is what acetone dissolves. I talk about it in this video:
      ruclips.net/video/o_TntfuahsM/видео.html
      E-files do not damage the nails when used properly for the proper reason. They should not be used to remove gel polish. There is no way I would be able to remove all gel polish from the nail without hitting the natural nail.
      I find them to be very effective at gentle cuticle removal in the right hands with the proper bits and proper speed and pressure. It can be done but you need to be VERY skilled.
      DD (despite how they advertise it) is not like gel polish. In the way it looks it's much closer to traditional polish but for some strange reason sometimes it lasts better on some people than gel polish. Some people have issues with gel polish peeling and they don't have the same issues with DD.
      The finished look of gel polish is much smoother and much thicker than DD so I don't like to compare both that way,

    • @diananemoy7409
      @diananemoy7409 2 года назад

      @@TheSalonLife No hurry at all Anna. Yes I completely agree all the marketing of everything being "like gel" is just that but I am equally impressed with DD having received my first order since you convinced me to try them out. Some beautiful colors and I agree I can see why many love the brand as it does have a legit system of products that do last longer than typical polish I'm sure for many. Agreed as well nothing is as iron hard thick smooth glossy wear as gel. What got me into it when it first came out was the easy of pedicures as regular polish never lasted all my life without instant tip wear from all my heels workout shoes etc so gels were heaven for me wore a month plus per much slower growing nails on feet and like iron through any shoes. I did them for last 8 years and decided to take a break as started making me nervous even with the amazing nail salon owner I go to. Manish o couldn't justify getting often as grew out too fast and I never wanted my polish stash at home to not have love Haha. Also always been very lucky to have very strong thick nails naturally, as well as living a clean lifestyle and doing all i can to mantain health in skin hair nails as well, so even wearing regular polish many think I have fake nails so the thickness gel adds isn't a must for me. Hmmm thank you for mentioning that acetone can't cause sensitivity? Baffled as o was so sure that was the culprit because I noticed every time I would struggle to remove dam gel manicures I did whether soskokg on acetone and foil for 10 minutes or 40 did not help the gel come off any more easily even with my gentle efile attempts as if the gel was super glued to my nails lol. Worst of all my nails would feel 50x more tingly sensitive and dehydrated no matter how much oil I used after and some as salon if I follow to do a fresh gel mani when I would be curing even with super thin coats my nails would burn/feel hot during the cure. I never normally had this unless acetone soaking and removal was involved so just assumed that had to be the issue hence why trying Koko & Claire Peel Off Base Coat hoping to avoid the drama and bain of my existence of gel removal. Curious what you think may cause the nail sensitivity and burning I have after soaking with acetone? Thank you as always for your time! 🙌

      @@TheSalonLife , In what way can I see this? Was the IBX Boost a bad move or the right way to go after gelpolish gives a bad result for some clients on the way to restore the damaged nails?
      And I do believe dehydration has a big factor in nails that get damaged easily..
      I have a few clients that, in some way we came up to this topic, drink water very sparingly.. and exactly those clients have white spots all over and not just spots but half nails that are white after the gelpolish is removed. Also extremely thin nails while before applying the gelpolish they had healthy, nice firm nails.
      And yes, coming back after 2 or 3 weeks and a whole gel appliance was flipped off of the nail.
      So what I do recommend these few clients is not to wear gelpolish often, give the nails the time to bounce back and take breaks in between.. and that is what works for me I found.

  • @tmcdgreen
    @tmcdgreen 3 года назад

    My theory is that for clients that have that level of damage underneath gel, gel isn't the correct product for them due to the flexibility. Those clients would probably do better with a hard gel base with regular fills and a soft gel top to change regularly. To reduce flexibility if the client didn't want to commit to hard gel, I would do one layer of dip (apply a thin layer of base gel, pour over dip powder and cure - *not* resin) and then proceed with the gel polish layers. The dip layer adds the tiniest amount of rigidity without bulk, and the client wouldn't have to worry about cracking or peeling since the dip powder provides a much more textured surface than the buffed nail alone. However, you might have to add one more coat of gel as the acrylic tends to absorb the first thin layer of gel. I find that the base layer of dip (with gel) removes beautifully - basically crumbles off after the gel breaks down. I'm not sure it would puff up like CND Shellac does under acetone (if CND Shellac base is used with the dip layer), but the removal ease would be similar. I agree with comments below about the white spots though - I think that's just wearing the polish too long resulting in dehydration and/or where maybe the nail + polish/gel is more rigid than the other parts of the nail, but still suffering some flexibility limit, since I've noticed clients tend to have white spots above the 'shredded' damaged areas after gel removal.

      Interesting points. This client wore hard gel before for years with limited success. She often suffered breaks and pocket lifting. The flexibility helped with wear but caused damage I think. Interesting point though. This same client just sent me a picture of her nails with 3 week old Dazzle Dry I did before I left Canada. Excellent wear and zero damage to her nails after taking it off. :). Stronger isn’t always better. :))

    Looking into alternatives for gel polish. I seem to have become allergic to it. Any recommendations? Right now I’m using press on false nails because it’s faster then constant painting. So sad about losing gel in my life as it lasted so long for me.

      Hi Cindy! So sorry for the late reply!
      Dazzle Dry would be a good option. It's not as long lasting as gel polish and it will not cover any damage but if you want color, healthy nails and hypoallergenic then DD would be awesome!

      Yes. The base doesn’t need thinning. Just colors, top coat and Transform (ridgefiller). The base only needs warming up like you described.

    That is really shocking to see that with Gelpolish you do seem to get damaged looking nails... me and my clients like the gelpolish because there is no dry time.. so regular polish wouldnt be chosen by them, however I do have Caption nail polish and their conversion base and top coat... Maybe it is worth to give that a try to those clients.... Thanx again for your video

      Well, many people have no damage but some do and I talk about it :)
      I haven’t had 1 client with damaged nails from Dazzle dry, in fact they feel that their nails are better now.
      I forgot to mention in this video that Dazzle Dry dries fully in 5 min.

    I like the DD, but it doesn't last more than a few days for me. It might be all the handwashing, but I've had longevity problems with all types of products. My nails just do not seem to grip product, no matter what type of prep or base coat I use. I can't do wet manicures or pedicures because of the moisture that gets trapped underneath the product, so I've switched to dry nail prep before polish. That works better, but with regular, DND, or gel polish my nails get very dry and brittle. Product just pops or chips off. The free edges bend, crack and peel and just don't grow very long due to the weakness. It's very frustrating. I've spent thousands of dollars over my lifetime in services and products and have never been completely satisfied with anything. They are finally growing out about as healthy as I can get them naturally, but I am at a loss on what to use for a long lasting enhancement or color product. 😕

      Hi Millie! Yes, for sure, not everyone will have the same results from DD. This was just to show how for some of my clients DD lasts actually better than gel polish and the nails remain much healthier.
      Very sadly some people just don't have good luck with any nail coating.
      There might be many reasons. Usually external like you mentioned hand washing etc. How are your toenails?
      Do you also wear polish on your feet?
      I think that some people just naturally might have a weaker nail structure that gets damaged very easily.
      Have you tried nail hardeners, strengthening products etc. How about oils? How often do you use them?
      Have you ruled out medical issues that can affect the nails?
      I would love to have a look at your nails and I will let you know what I think. Pls email me thesalonlife[at]gmail[dot]com.
      Send me a picture of your nails free of any polish or creams/oils, ideally wiped with pure acetone or 99% alcohol and dried properly.

      I use oils almost daily and especially when not wearing polish to keep the nails moisturized. I've tried hardener before, but they make my nails more prone to chipping because they aren't flexible with those products. 🤷🏻‍♀️
